    BRILLIANT!! I just unpacked my printer this morning and thought for a moment that I could only run 11 x 17 paper one at a time through the back. Then I found your review and you showed me how to load it. Thank you very much!!

    I'm having trouble with my printer alignment when printing A3. When I print from the A3 tray and/or the single manuel feed tray it has troubles printing in straight lines, it offsets them by a millimeter or two in some cases.
    Have you had any problems regarding this issue at all?
    (and yes, I have tried the alignment settings and the alignment tests and they all seem fine)

    I can't find it again but I read that I can scan A3 (a open book for example) and that the software can split it automatically in 2 A4 and make a continuous PDF ? How? It would avoid me scanning A3 and batch cropping / copying / renaming in LR and PDFing in Preview (Mac). Thanks !

    What's the difference from the J6520DW and this printer besides the extra tray? Can the 6520DW scan and fax A3 paper and does the tray hold the A3 paper as well or does it have to be fed through the rear one by one?

    I LOVE this printer - I've used it daily for about 2 years. I turned if using the button above the "wi-fi" symbol yesterday & now it won't turn on again. We tried everything we know to do: unplug & replug, etc. The screen wil briefly flicker on & then goes black again. What else can I do?

    Love the review :) My girlfriend and I have been looking for a solid A3 home scanner/printer, and this seems to be a good option. I do have two questions that I hope, that you can answer: 1) What is the DPI scan quality? 2) How thick paper can it print on? Standard 80g A4 (of course double for A3) or can it go higher?
    Kind regards, Kim.

    One downside is the paper tray/holder... it doesn't hold more than 2 or 3 pages on it once you've printed an a3 page... a4 is fine.. but not a3.... you would think if they allowed you to print a3... it would catch the pages once done... instead they fall on the floor losing any order they were printed in.

    Can I custom a printing size? Is it working If I put B4(9.8x13.9) paper in to the machine, is it gonna regonize the paper size?

    • @Printerbase
      @Printerbase  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shiilan16, thanks for getting in touch. You can print onto a custom sized paper by using the user defined paper setting within the driver. The device will not automatically recognise B4 paper in the tray as it is not one of the preconfigured sizes within the driver setup. You would have to manually detail the dimensions in the paper settings in the print driver.
      Take a look at the brochure here for more details on compatible sizes - www.printerbase.co.uk/media/pdf/brother-mfcj6920dw.pdf
      I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the helpful review. Have you tried the VERY similar model: MFC-J6720DW? The price difference seems to 30% less than this one (MFC-J6920DW) and when I used a comparison website the differences seemed small: no photo-printing, scanned 11x17 (rather than the 11.7x17 that this one offers), and no auto-duplex feeder. However, that comparison site also told me that this model does NOT have a USB port (which you showed us here that it does actually have), and it said this model does not do auto-duplex printing, e-printing, or template printing. (The last 2 features I'm not familiar with, but I would want it to be able to print on both sides of the sheet without me re-feeding it.) I would love to know your opinion on this matter because I don't think I'm getting complete and accurate info. Thanks in advance for your time and effort.

    • @Printerbase
      @Printerbase  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Toadali - and thank you for submitting this question.
      In response to your query, we can advise that the J6720 and J6920 are in essencethe same model as they share the same print system, but do vary in other
      features. They can both print photographs and print and scan A3 size paper
      (11x17). I can also confirm that both models have a USB port for direct
      connection printing as well as a USB port for a inserting a flash drive. The
      key advantages the J6920DW has over the J6720 are as follows:
      1. Bigger screen (9.3cm Vs 6.8cm)
      2. More memory for processing
      (256MB Vs 128MB)
      3. Duplex Scan and Copy functions
      (both models print double-sided)
      4. NFC (near field communication)
      If you don’t think you require any of the above extra features then the J6720 should suit your requirements perfectly fine.
      We hope that this helps. If you do have any additional queries, please do not hesitate to ask.Best Regards,The Printerbase Team

      Yes, i was totally convinced with your review... and i bought this printer after watching this last video and it really satisfies all my needs for home office use... i don't have to connect it by wires or anything just simply i can print files from anywhere at home using wireless network and upload files by scanning straight to my home office cloud folder, its just saving me around 2 hour everyday. there was no setup required no cd was required so overall installation took me just unboxing and turning it on, everything was compatible with windows server 2016 Datacenter Technical Preview 5 Evaluation Copy.

    Hi, can you let me know if the ink that this printer uses are waterproof and fade resistant? Also, If this printer prints on single cartridge if I need to (suppose I just need to print the black or cyan)? It will be great if you can share the images of prints the machine delivers. Thanks in advance.

    • @Printerbase
      @Printerbase  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ravi Gupta
      Hi,
      The inks used in the printer are not waterproof, but instead water resistant. They're actually really tough as far as inks go, and when printed on the right media, prints will last a very long time.
      As far as printing on a single cartridge, you can only do this with black. When printing, choose greyscale from the colour options and that will tell the printer to only use the black ink cartridge. Unfortunately, there's no way to do this for individual colours.
      We hope this helps

      Hi
      Unfortunately, the 6920 is rated for paper weighing up to 220gsm. The card you have may be too thick to pull through the paper feed, causing your problem.
      We recommend trying thinner card, 220gsm should be ok, and try not to print over the crease. If you have anymore questions let us know.
      We hope this helps

    Thank you, yes it's a nice machine.
    It does give me a bit of crooked problem when scanning 11x17 stacks, though. Okay for a lawyer but not so great for an architect. Taping small blocks as help-guides seems to help a bit as the paper easily gets out of guide.
    But what would you suggest as a good paper for
    a) best text quality
    b) text and images together
    3) for best photo quality
    Thank you!

    • @Printerbase
      @Printerbase  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Veffari, thanks for getting in touch.
      Unfortunately, there is always a margin for error in alignment when using an ADF to scan documents, although the adjustable guides on the machine should ensure that the paper is fed correctly to begin with. For general documents it is not so much of an issue, if you need to scan an image or drawing, for accuracy, I would recommend using the platen on the machine which avoids any skewing issues.
      As for paper, there isn’t a particular recommendation we would suggest for text or text/images only that you use an uncoated standard paper or an inkjet specific one. For photographs, you can use media up to 220gsm on this model and so for best results would recommend a heavyweight glossy or semi-gloss media. Take a look at some of our photo paper here - www.printerbase.co.uk/printer-paper/photo-papers.html
      I hope this helps.
      Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

      Hi.
      All you need to do is load the 8 x 10 paper into the paper tray and make sure the guides hug the paper. Then select the correct paper size from the print driver when you're printing. If you need anymore help, contact us via our live chat.

    can it print cards, e.g business cards?

    • @Printerbase
      @Printerbase  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi +oshi bobo,
      The maximum weight of media this machine is capable of handling is 220gsm, which is a relatively light cardstock- certainly not up to the weights you would usually use for a business card, which would be over 350gsm at least. There aren’t any devices of this type (A3 inkjet MFPs) that are capable of handling the thickest media types.
      Hope this helps.The Printerbase Team

    Where does the effing paper go

    I have owned one of this model for 3 years. Would NEVER buy one again. I bought it to give me the option of printing on A3 - except I have never been able to get it to print reliably on A3. Every time I have tried, it is a monumental frustration and after 15 minutes of mucking around and switching trays, I give up. It is not a terrible printer in terms of quality and its "Best" in black & white is OK for business use - but forget using colour for business as the quality is poor - I use a red and dark blue logo for business and the colours on letterhead are very wishy-washy, even on Best quality. Double sided printing and scanning is OK but when scanning, the paper feed goes askew, so very difficult to scan a copy that can be sent to a client. Also, like most brands of inkjet (unlike HP), this printer uses some colour ink to print in black and white. So even though I print very little colour, colour inks still run out far too quickly and are too costly for the quality. You also can't just turn the printer off. There is a massive stuff around to turn it back on again - you almost have to stand on your head - absurd. If you really need A3, possibly worth a risk, but I would not recommend this printer overall - 2 stars out of 5.

      I agree, unfortunately it was reviews like this that convinced me to buy the horrible thing. A3 printing, which was something that was important for me, was a big factor in buying the printer and it hasn't worked well for me. I expect that when I buy a printer, especially an expensive, well reviewed one, that using it will be straightforward and reliable. This is the 2nd well reviewed printer in a row that I've owned in a row that has simply failed to meet those basic expectations.

    Do not buy this printer or for that mater Brother DCP-T500W!
    It has worst ever paper pick up system.
    It sometime take 3-5 pages at the same time or even a little delay between pages and you get print on two pages... This started from new
    Have tested many different papers and its same thing.
    Just don't....
