Kind of bummed that they go with heroes/characters instead of letting everyone design their own. I really don't get why that trend is taking over every game, let us create our own characters and customize them as we want !
I believe a lot of it has to go into balancing and avoiding mainstream meta gameplay. I too have seen a rise/revival in hero shooters and while I dont necessarily enjoy them either and feel like gamers get put into a box with creative strategies, it allows the devs to have an easier time with bugs and future balance issues.
I think a great compromise between PvE and >PvP would be if they made PvP exclusive Zones, so people are not forced to PvP. Make it like the Division, make it optional. Not every game needs to be like Tarkov just because Tarkov was succesful.

First of all there is no real progression because couples of mistakes can cost you every bit of effort you have made. Can wipe out days of gameplay. There is no attachment to the loot whatsoever

Recently they added a skin for the Ak on The Finals on the final reward for completing all the contracts, and you can tell that it's an Easter Egg for Arc Raiders, they also said that they gonna make an anouncement on tomorrow's Summer Game Fest, so, fingers crossed man :D
I know the change in genre was controversial and I personally wouldve preferred PVE only, but embark earned the benefit of the doubt for me and will try to make the most of it when it comes out. I think that we at leadt get an open beta announcement in the summer gamefest
Man I missed the first beta and was very sad. Since I am regularly checking when there will be another one or any other material regarding the game. Really crave a great looter shooter experience like the early warframe and the division. I can't belive how good this gameplay looks, especially the lighting. I just hope the gameplay loop will be fun and engaging for the long term. I care more about PvE, but I don't mind some PvP if it isn't too intrusive. Between The First Descendant and Arc Raiders I find Arc way more compelling. Another game to look out for is Off the Grid.

I would say helldivers has the DNA of extraction shooter but most extraction shooters you go into the match with a certain amount of gear and weapons and if you die you lose everything but with helldivers all you lose is xp I should of probably explained this more in the video but hope it makes sense - but you’re totally right as well

I'll admit, I was more excited when it was just pve, but now we have hd2 and soon space marines 2, so maybe itsa good thing arc raiders decided to go pvpve to give it a different identify than hd2, and even spacemarines2. this way it can stand on its own n not be called an hd2 clone. but wow! hd2, spacemarines2, the first descendants and arc raiders. so many incredible looking live-service games coming our way (alrdy having hd2 released)!
They've already killed this game by adding PvP and changing it to an extraction shooter...3rd person and PvP never work well and extraction shooters are nothing but no-life griefers, hacks and cheaters, and extract campers. The game WAS looking awesome and going to be very similar to Helldivers 2 but now it's gonna be just another Division Dark Zone where basement dweller sweats run around killing players just to be a$$holes. They sold out and changed their game genre and half the people excited for it are no longer interested at all. Its gonna flop...dead before arrival.
I hope they don't repeat the mistakes they made during the closed beta of The Finals. I signed up the same day the first trailer dropped and waited for months and didn't get access, while tons of people who'd never heard of the game got in right away. and look now at The player count dropped from 250k to 15k on steam, yet I still play it every day. If they handle Arc Raiders the same way, count me out.
unlucky but it's the only fair way they can do it. Also it wasn't hard to get a code if you had all your friends sign up and just have them use their friend codes on you whenever one of them got in. That's how I did it. tell like 5+ people you know to sign up and most likely one of them gets in

If they did it on a first-come-first-serve basis, then they would only attract an audience of dedicated fans- and when playtesting, you need a truly random sample, so your feedback isn’t skewed. Plus, they wouldn’t get as much interest because people who happen to discover the game a little later than most others would then feel like it is unfair- put yourself in their shoes as well. The best thing they can do make it truly random so everyone, regardless of their situation, has an equal chance to get in.
