    Ways of doing things are changing everyday at a high speed rate. Knowledge is expanding, what we were doing in the past years are now becoming outdated. So we should always see ourselves as 'WE DON'T KNOW' we are still learning. At first we did not know that we can even construct net cages for rearing snails, all we thought is digging and rearing snails in the ground. The soil in the ground if not treated well contains a lot of micro organism, especially for imprisoned snails held in captivity. So people are now trying to see if they can go soiless (farming snails with only dried mulched leaves) and given them the same nutrients they need to survive in the soil. So if people can farm on desert lands with modern technology, then it is possible.

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really wished I could send a voice note to answer this 😂
      Please do your research.
      The fact that technology and way of doing stuff are fast changing does not mean that we do anything that is proposed without looking at the output in totality.
      Do you know how many abysmal inventions have been cut out of the system to save lives?
      I’ll urge you to watch my video on greenhouses. Without prior knowledge in snail farming, common sense will even expose the lies.
      Do you know how many net house owners call me weekly to cry out the output results? It would be okay if it was easy to mitigate those problems easily like the trench system.
      The owners of trench housing system do face challenges but it’s quickly corrected.
      About the soilless system, please I won’t tutor you on it. I think it’s about time people do their own research.
      Why do you think the Koreans farming Fulica find the need to use soil? You think they are not wise?
      All the best chief. A word to the wise is enough.

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the commendation.
      Kindly note that not all 200,000 snails will be brought forth the same day. It will depend on your business model or strategy to decide whether to keep them all or sell off at a certain age.
      Since they will be in various stages of life, it will be difficult telling how many snail pens will be needed. This is because at some age you can keep 5000 snails in a pen and at some other stage you may want to even keep just 50 in a pen. Thanks

    I also think the sexual age of the snail contributes to the number of eggs, it may produce. I don't think POL snails will produce much at the beginning. So the farmer is trying to just suggest the minimum average expentancy may be of 1st time laying snails (depending on their age). So l don't think he has deviated.

    How many pens would you need to start with 2 000 point of lay snails? And how many would you need by 1 year to house the minimum
    400 000 hatchlings?

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you’re driving at, but it’s fine.
      If I wanted to keep all 400,000 snails, I’ll put a minimum of 500 HATCHLINGS in one pen. Meaning you’ll need 800 pens for that. Good thing, we don’t need to wait for all those snails to be over a year old to be sold.
      That being said, if I still want to house them, 10 pens roughly costs 5000 cedis. Hence total will be around 400,000 cedis.
      No do similar maths for greenhouse that still kills snails, 400,000 snails divided by 2000 per house. Means you’ll need 200 greenhouses. 200 multiplied by average of 50,000 cedis is 10,000,000 cedis.

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And like I always say, even if the housing cost a billion dollars but gives the best yield, then why not.
      But that that's not the situation. Alot of people who have terribly failed with the net housing are reaching out to me trying to tell their story to the rest of the world.
      My questions posed to the net housers are daring and the truth. You'll have to be charmed to not understand the reality I've explained.

    Samuel you're always telling us the bad side of greenhouse what about the bad side of trench and gallery snail rearing

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which bad sides of trench housing system?
      It’s designed to be very secured.
      The limitations come into play when you don’t follow the guidelines.
      For example, I’ve seen people doing trench without cementing the beneath. That makes the whole design flawed.
      It’s a also labour intensive and time consuming to manage but it’s returns pays off the debt.
      If you’ve done mango farming before, you’d know unlink other crops, you have to treat your mango trees like babies and that’s why it has a high profitability rate.
      I’ve seen trench houses without trenches/gutter around it. Again, that flaws the design. I’ve also seen people doing trench without treating the soil. That spoils the whole idea. I hope I answered you

      Interestingly enough I got a response yesterday stating that with a thousand snails in a 5by15 greenhouse I would need to build other spaces to transfer juveniles into

      But how will you find the Juveniles in that housing. I’m curious to know.

    I am a startup. I am making my budget towards wooden structures only. I am lucky to land here with my curiosity. In fact l even plan to go soiless.

      Well good you found me, wooden structures will rot when they come into contact with water. If you line it with black plastic bag, it will generate heat in the pen which is unhealthy for the snails.
      My next video might be on that whole idea of soilless pens. I do not know why people are coming up with weird ideas. Please farm them in the soil. They need it.

      Not advisable to start with eggs. Get sexually matured snails.

    How many snails can one of those 1 meter square enclosures comfortably hold?

    • @k.t.samuel
      @k.t.samuel  ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you know it’s a meter square. It’s actually not. The number of snails per pen is dependent on the size of the snails.

    • @sportsactuary8574
      @sportsactuary8574 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@k.t.samuel Please give a standard pen size and indicate how many snails that specific pen size would accommodate for two or three sizes of snails.
