Thanks to Indrid and the players for this video. @11:19 Those icons above the unit abilities are structures built. So you can click on the upgrades building icon to see the stuff rather than clicking around the map.
The truck went down because he missclicked the extra ability which you get with the stormboyz, your vehicle does more dmg and gets faster for few sec and then it blows up by itself.
Only @ 2:12 at the mo, but bear in mind those doctrines at this point COULD be correct. You might not see Assault Leap on the right side doctrine list, because it comes with the Dreadnought on the left side list. That'd be a good reason to BRING the Venerable Dreadnought - so you could have Assault Leap while still having three other doctrines. Also, why the Dreadnought doctrine list may be legit at this point; Two Dreadnought doctrines on right side, would compliment well with the Dreadnought Doctrine Gabe may be bringing. Remember - you actually get 6 doctrines per match. 3 from your pool of unlocked doctrines, and then an additional 3 dependant on the hero units you bring. If you bring the Venerable Dreadnought with the Assault Leap doctrine selected, there's no reason to bring the Assault Leap doctrine a second time as one of your three open choice doctrines. EDIT: Haha, and then later on you mention these exact things heh. BTW, the Ork Trukk randomly going boom - there's an Ork doctrine, can't remember which elite it's tied too, that let's you overcharge ork vehicles and destroy them for AoE damage or something. I remember I kept on activating the ability by accident in the campaign and blowing up my own Dredds unintentionally, seem's for some reason the hotkey for it replaces whatever would normally be on Q hotkey for the unit (and it shifts the unit's abilities all across one hotkey). Chances are that's what happened here - he pressed Q to launch the Orks from Trukk and instead activated the self-destruct countdown ability thing; It doesn't happen straight away, so he probably realised what he did wrong and managed to follow-up with the reassigned hotkey for Ork launching from the Trukk and get them out before the Trukk went ka-boom.
Here is how Elite doctrines work: Presence - Works ONLY when the elite is on the field. Indicator on the unit is up at all times but the effect isn't. Command - Works all the time if it is selected. All you need is level 3. Level 8 allows you to pick that doctrine as your army doctrine (independently from the elite), but that's it.
Does anyone know if either of these players, or other top competitive players, have a YT channel (I assume most do)? I would like to see some top games from the players perspective
I think the truck went down either because 1: assault marine throw ability to it (unlikely) or 2: the truck has an ability (self or doctrine) that allow it to self-destruct, and do damage to nearby enemy units. I think 2 is more likely, given that the truck was chased by asm and he might want to use that to wipe the marine, but they backed up too early and the truck couldn't catch on anymore, so only self-destruct
I never really comment but here it goes. I thought I was going to hate DOW 3 and no it is not a perfect game but for some reason it is really fun! and I love these casts even more than DOW 2! keep it up Indrid!
Looking forward to more races and hopefully expanded number of units per race in future updates. I just hope they are at the very least cheap if not free because I don't see this game being worth it for content but the potential is there.
I'm not a big fan of the art direction either. For me it's the overabundance of lighting effects. The map has so many light sources , those lines breaking up the surface, etc., and that just adds to all the effects from abilities. It's not enough to turn me away from the game, but it's annoying.
Sorry, I'll add that I know not all maps have those lighting effects. I still think there are too many lighting effects in general, but I especially hate maps with this tile-set.
Only game I have seen this year that seems backwards then previous ones.Dawn of war I and II are improved versions of Dawn of war 3.I still wait for a real DOW3.
You REALLY need to memorize how the doctrines work, some gain the bonus even when they are not deployed. ASM gets a leap even if the dreadnaught aint out. The same with the truks stormboy perk. Great commentary except getting a lot of the doctrines and how they work wrong, it really takes away from otherwise good commentary.
And remembering which doctrines are "when X is deployed" and which arent aint really that hard, he could always load up the relplay, look at the doctrines, seach the effect on the net. Do some reseach before starting the game since its youtube and not live, mistakes like that should not really happen.

HA! Maybe self-destruct abilities should have to be clicked twice, and at least not put right next to other abilities.
Been guilty of this myself a few times.
xD

Man I love when you upload more often lol, I've rewatched almost all of your videos twice now lol. Keep it up man!

Hey Indrid still love your vids, still a good way into DoW (now III)

That Liberian stone wall is nuts

Yeah, I think the Ork player was used to that Stormboy bomb when you load units in, but chose the wrong doctrine and accidentally blew up his truck.

That didn't age well 😂
By the sheer amount of mistakes hfseid did, I'm thinking he had some nerves going.
Orks suicide bombers are a bit op I think, you sacrifice only 1 of your 5 stormboyz to kill at least 3 tactical marines
Indrid you just need level 3 for assault leap
what does the banner do?
JB speed buff and I think damage buff
Please learn how doctrines work
Well, if this game becomes a real e-sport then you will have a lagitimate chance of becoming an official caster. That would be nice.
That was a good game.
More Dawn of War II !
The truck self destructed. i guess it was a missclick. Happened to me once. ':|
i just cant get over the art style. im sorry.
I honestly see nothing wrong with it. Looks good. Looking back at Dow1/2 they dont look better, just different. Matter of taste I guess. :)
I'm not a big fan of the art direction either. For me it's the overabundance of lighting effects. The map has so many light sources , those lines breaking up the surface, etc., and that just adds to all the effects from abilities.

Probably another game going for the colorful style because of Overwatch

GUDT the game has been out for a week

DoW 3 looks like shit. That blue aura around EACH UNIT needs to go.
How the hell do you see whos winning?
