حسب المركز الوطني للآثار ، التاسيلي مرت على مراحل عديدة على زمن سحيق في التاريخ ، فالرسومات تعود لعدة حقبات أولها مرحلة السافانا تعود الى خمسين الف سنة ، و مرحلة البحيرات العضمى ثمانين الف سنة و اقدم مرحلة و هي غامضة جدا تعود الى اكثر من مليون سنة خلت
إن أول من أكتشفها هو جبريل من قبيلة الطوارق كان يرعى الجمال و يعرف طرق الصحراء و كان دليل و مرشد للفرنسي الذي نسبها لنفسه... عليك تصحيح ذلك
عندنا في الغرب الجزائري إذا أردنا أن نشير لأصل شخص ما نقول طاسيلته من هناك و هذا يعني ربما أن كلمة طاسيلي معناها الأصل و ربما هذا يشير لأن طاسيلي هي أصل البشر أو أول مخلوق سكن الأرض
