For those asking if you can use canned peaches, yes. I just made this. I used a 29 oz can of peaches and a clear glass brownie pan. I think it's 8x8 inches, or maybe 9 x 9. I don't know the exact dimensions. I'm NOT, after all, the Superman of my brownie pan. Drain the liquid of course. I didn't use the lemon zest but followed the rest of the recipe. Well, I used margarine instead of butter because it's all I have. It just got done cooling for 40 minutes. I tasted it and it's pretty good. Now I'll have to go to the store later and buy some ice cream and/or whipped cream.
From his blog Ingredients for 8 portions: 6 large peaches, cut into 8ths zest and juice from 1 lemon - Placed in a buttered baking dish (about 2-inches deep is perfect) - Mine dish was 10-inches across, and holds 2 quarts For the batter: 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temp 1 1/4 cup granulated white sugar 1 1/3 cups self-rising flour (or all-purpose flour plus 2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon fine salt) 1/3 cup rolled oats 2/3 cup whole milk For the top: 1/4 cup granulated white sugar cold water spritzed generously over the top - Bake at 375 F for about 45 minutes, or until browned and crispy.
I tried this recipe today and it was AMAZING. The crust came out soo crisp, I'm gonna use this trick on many more desserts. Thank you Chef John. Has to be said, my husband was the gobbler.. of this crispy peach cobbler. 🤣

So my brother made this today using peaches he just picked while I distracted his kids and it came out amazing. It was absolutely delicious and wasn't too sweet like so many cobblers. You could actually taste the fresh peaches! The sweetness was balanced very well. We both discovered you independently (I was first!) and are huge fans. Keep up the good work! 🤗
Chef John, gotta let you know I've made this recipe countless times now, with all sorts of different fruits and it is ALWAYS a hit. Everyone always wants to know how I got the topping so crispy! Thank you for making this video!
I just made this with cherries and didn’t change a thing. What a beautiful dessert. It was oh so crispy crunchy with the sugar glaze on top and the cherries were their decadent beautiful selves. Although it was a bit more labor intensive with cherries, it was worth slicing and pitting an entire. It was perfect. Thank you Chef John.
I made this today, and it finally cooled down enough. simply amazing! we used fresh Georgia peaches (live in St. Augustine, Florida) and the filling was perfect! I was sceptical, but you were right, no need to add sugar to the peaches. the topping is fluffy and that sugar glaze gives a nice crunchy/chewy texture. Thanks chef John for another keeper recipe!

I've copied many of Chef John's recipes to a flash drive so I have them at hand when needed and I just send the one I want to my phone. My grandmother made an amazing peach cobbler, mostly because my grandfather disliked peaches. She'd make cobbler in a long baking dish, put peach filling in one end, and either strawberry or raspberry in the other. The juices mingled, and my dad and I always wanted the middle part, where the two combined. Now I have to have people over for dinner so I can make a cobbler!
This recipe is amazing! If anyone has any hesitations about it, just go for it! It's surprisingly simple and amazingly delicious! Thank you Chef John, you never disappoint.

Made this recipe twice this summer, once with cherries once with strawberries. Absolutely delicious. I love how crispy it get on the top while still having some gooey bits towards the center. Exquisite as always Chef John!
The first time I watched this 3 years ago. I couldn't wait to make it, I had canned peaches in addition to some fresh ones. It was fantastic 😊. So much can change in 3 years time. Glad I made it when I could!
I'm planning to make this tomorrow. Mm, can't wait! I'll be substituting maple syrup for the butter; adding some organic cinnamon, organi nutmeg and a splash of 100% vanilla extract. Oodoggie, salivating already 😏🍑🥧🤤💞
Wow I've been looking for a recipe that really showcases the peach and not just a bunch of syrup and sugar. Love it!! And keeping the skins on makes it so much easier
This was amazing! Due to family allergies, I made it with plant butter and gluten free flour. And it was still amazing. Saving this to my favorite recipes.
Made it today ..burnt the crust a bit..but my family loved it! thank you..it was so quick n easy to make, especially when you don't have time to make pie crust..m gunna try it with apples n cherries too!
This is the first good recipe I ever saw on TH-cam. Probably 10 years ago! I remembered the measurements for the longest time. I finally forgot them and came back. I rewatched the whole video, it’s the best! Love your humor. And your baking!
I've made this twice now, second time for 18 people, and it is easy and absolutely delicious. Thank you Chef John! I have to admit though, that I cut back on the sugar by almost half, and it did not lack in sweetness. Also, in the future, I need to let it cool in the kitchen, not on the table, because it puts the guest's patience to a hard test, it looks so good they'd rather suffer burns than wait half an hour.
I make this peach crisp recipe about six times a year or more and I send a copy of this recipe with my home-canned peaches to my friends and family! We love it! I made it today! Thanks, Chef John!
Chef John, you have never led me astray. Any time I've made one of your recipes or something inspired by you, it has turned out wonderfully. The other day I made 2 of your recipes, gyros with tzatziki, and they were sooooooooo good. Thank you for everything you do!
I had a mixed bunch of peaches and nectarines and I decided to make this anyway. It was just FAB. Truly summer in a bowl. I used a little less sugar in the dough mix, and it still worked so well! Chef John you rock - you make it all look so easy and doable!
I made this today and it was fantastic! Mind you, I don't have a freakishly small wooden spoon so that probably lessened the quality of the end product. I made a few adjustments. Most minor of which, I had several smallish peaches and nectarines so I used a mixture of both and used 8 pieces of fruit. I also did add a bit more liquid so it poured a little easier and it still turned out just fine with a nice, crispy layer atop the crust. I also decreased the temperature and added more time because I cooked it in my convection toaster oven. This recipe was a huge hit and it's a keeper!
I had to make this. I used can peaches instead. This is simply very delicious and crispy unlike any other cobbler. I will make this cobbler from now own.
I made this last night, down here in NZ. It was scrumptious! Even youngest extremely fussy son ate it - two helpings no less! Thanks again Chef John ☺️
I prepared this dish today for Easter dinner and it was a huge hit. My family is not crazy about dessert but they loved it! My sister even had seconds. I also made Chef John’s BBQ ribs and they came out great! Anyway, the main reason that I want to comment is because I did a few things slightly different that helped me prepare the dish in 10 minutes or less. I used pre-sliced frozen peaches, preheated the oven, used room temp butter, used a potatoes smasher to quickly mix the ingredients together, and a tiny sifter to dust the sugar on top. I skipped the spray part and still got the beautiful crust!
Hey, Chef John, I just cooked this cobbler for Father's Day today and it was delish! Although a little too sweet but still amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Totally made this for a July 4th BBQ and knocked my "bring dessert" game out of the ballpark. Was a total hit! Thank you Chef John! All my in-laws loved it.
Chef john I learned something the other day on CHEF show is if butter is used last minute, keep it frozen and grate with large cheese grater right into the sugar or flour.....tada!
I actually adopted this and made it Apple and put in margarita mix instead of lemon juice for a friend's 21st birthday! first time I ever made something from a video! thanks chef John! it was the Floyd Mayweather of the get-together.

I made this for the fourth of July. It was fantastic. I added a 1/2 tsp of vanilla to the batter. I cut the sugar by a little bit and basically used that to put more of it on top for the glaze. Make sure to cook this on a baking plate or something else to catch the juice. It will bubble up the edges. I had to cook it for 55 minutes in my oven. You want it to get that perfect golden brown and then take it out and let it cool. This would work with any filling strawberries, apples..etc.
I just used this batter with blackberries and it worked great. About 4+ cups of blackberries, two tblsp tapioca and half cup sugar. Vanilla ice cream is not optional.
Just made this with farm fresh peaches and OMG....so freaking good! Thank you!!!! My son will be going to culinary school in Jan and I'm very excited! He and I teamed up to make a fabulous dinner and dessert tonight!
Made this tonight (tossed in some blackberries, too!)... WOW... it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy! No need for box mixes - this is TREMENDOUSLY easy & simple! And FANTASTIC. Thank you, Chef John!
Made this for the 4th of July and it was a massive success. I used a larger dish so I scaled the recipe proportions up by 50%...also, did half peaches and half cherry & blackberry. In spite of the bigger dish and a full dessert spread to compete against, it was gone in less than 10 minutes. Thank you chef!
I love that you include some of your minor mistakes, Chef John. It's encouraging that even the best chefs still have brain farts or forget something every now and then but still manage to work around them and make sexy, delicious food.
You know that inspiration, excitement, and joy comes from a soothing and yet comedic voice by the name Chef John. This seems like the perfect go-to comfort dessert recipe.
@@xJillie no not really. i think the dough usually soaks up most of the liquid. there was once i made it a bit soggy i think but if the recipe is followed well i think wouldn't have had that problem. i hope that helps.
Hey man thank you sooo much chef John I love being able to go back to amazing tried and true recipes like this and cook up up to impress the ladies. I promise you you’re getting an invite to my wedding :) peace from Canada you the man!
"Not to mention I bet it's more nutritious with them, which of course is the main reason you eat a peach cobbler." Lmao, Chef John is my favorite comedian X'D
I made the peach cobbler with this recipe since my peach tree has been bountiful. It was so aromatic with the lemon zest. We served it with ice cream and it was a hit with my family! Thank you for another delicious recipe!
I made this. Twice. It is an excellent recipe. I do offer one suggestion. After slicing the peaches in eighths, cut each slice once again crosswise. It makes it easier to grab a fork/spoonful. The second time I made the cobbler I did not have enough peaches, so I subbed 2 nectarines and a plum. Turned out well.
Teaches of Peaches?? Chef John is a G!!! That's right Chef- bake the pain away!! You are a slice of fried gold Sir- instant shot of Prozac to the soul!!!
I'm doing this right now. Will text again to the finish..... Well I got it done and it turned out really really great! Mine looks almost exactly like the picture. And the flavor was very good, the crust very flaky and crispy. My only change would be to add some nutmeg and give the peaches a kinda sauce because since there was none made, it turned out somewhat dry. As for the process, I had a hard time with the peaches. They may not have been ripe enough. But then I figured out how to cut around the pit from the top to loosen it and take it out before slicing the peach. That worked great. Other than that, it was exactly as described.
Yes I agree with you. I’d have to figure out how to make a juice, because I prefer a juicy cobbler. I’ll bet strawberries would be a good variation also!
For a vegan option I tried this and substituted the butter for coconut oil and added nondairy milk. Also I used coconut sugar... It still turned out amazingly... the whole family loved it! By far My favorite peach cobbler recipe
It is mango season here. The trees are full of them; big, ripe, fresh-off-the-tree, 10 minutes from picking to the oven and so delicious. So, I will be making this with mangos instead of peaches. Should be SO good. Thank you Chef John.
I made a double batch for the 4th, added two tablespoons of cinnamon sugar. People that never go back for seconds were going back for thirds. Big hit!! Thanks Chef John it really was awesome.
Chef John! This recipe is amazing, I've made this several times since I saw this video about a year ago. My grandkids demand it!!! I've done it with apples too!!!!
I scored a bunch of peaches from a local farm, and I am going to do three for the 4th party. Thank you I hope it comes out like yours, I will be the hit of the party.
I just made this cobbler with apples and it turned out absolutely amazing! This is by far the best cobbler recipe I've ever tried and I have tried several. The only thing I did different is add cinnamon to the fruit. It's just perfect. Thanks, chef John!
Missy Minx, help! Did you peel your apples first? Apple skins are a bit tougher than peach skins. Making this for a special someone and wanting it to come out perfect... ;)
We love his peach cobbler and his unique special way of talking us through it. I always add a can of cherry pie filling to the large can of peaches to make a bigger cobbler. But his fresh peaches and crust recipe is best.
@@tracielansing8938 You're supposed to get sweet, ripe peaches. There's more than enough sugar in the peaches and in the crust to even out the tartness of the lemon juice,
I made this yesterday. It is all you said it would be, very delicious. I used my stand mixer, as I didn’t need a workout. I did dot my peaches with small pieces of butter. This recipe is a keeper!

How bout BROWN SUGAR BABY!? Can I use it mixed with the white sugar? Please let me know... PLEASE! 🤍😋

i suggest a few vids from 2009....
this is absolutely delicious, ive been using this recipe for about a year now, never gets old.
Does the inside ever get soupy?
@@xJillie no not really. i think the dough usually soaks up most of the liquid. there was once i made it a bit soggy i think but if the recipe is followed well i think wouldn't have had that problem. i hope that helps.
This looks absolutely amazing! Quarantine recipe I’ve been waiting for.
Hey man thank you sooo much chef John I love being able to go back to amazing tried and true recipes like this and cook up up to impress the ladies. I promise you you’re getting an invite to my wedding :) peace from Canada you the man!
"Not to mention I bet it's more nutritious with them, which of course is the main reason you eat a peach cobbler."
Lmao, Chef John is my favorite comedian X'D
I made the peach cobbler with this recipe since my peach tree has been bountiful. It was so aromatic with the lemon zest. We served it with ice cream and it was a hit with my family! Thank you for another delicious recipe!

Fancy seeing you in this side of the tube. 😆 Luke will teach you how to grow a peach, chef john will teach you how to use the peach! 😆😆😉
"C'mon, you can't keep showing up with a bag of chips." -HAHA LOL
Just used your recipe for the crust on my apple cobbler and it came out great, will continue to use. Thank you
It was a hit chef John. Thanks!
It is mango season here. The trees are full of them; big, ripe, fresh-off-the-tree, 10 minutes from picking to the oven and so delicious. So, I will be making this with mangos instead of peaches. Should be SO good. Thank you Chef John.
as a good old southern boy, I can say this is 100% accurate despite there being no 100% accurate recipes for this
I made a double batch for the 4th, added two tablespoons of cinnamon sugar. People that never go back for seconds were going back for thirds. Big hit!! Thanks Chef John it really was awesome.
"But whenever I can feature the freakishly small wooden spoon, I do" 😂😂
The peach skins DO give the filling a very pretty colour indeed! Thank you for sharing your great recipe 😊
I really don't like a soggy doughy peach cobbler. I hated it in fact. I did your recipe and I no longer hate it. I like it.
I've been making this cobbler for years and it never fails to impress. Happy holidays to everyone, and thanks for the recipe, Chef John!
the teaches of peaches, eh?
Huh, what?
Riiiiiggghtttt
fuck the pain away
scrolled down til I found the inevitable. 😄 good work, internet.
heyfrau maybe he'll tell us what else is in the teaches of peaches
Chef John! This recipe is amazing, I've made this several times since I saw this video about a year ago. My grandkids demand it!!! I've done it with apples too!!!!
Omg. I'm totally making this tomorrow
I scored a bunch of peaches from a local farm, and I am going to do three for the 4th party. Thank you I hope it comes out like yours, I will be the hit of the party.
Teaches of Peaches? Why Chef John, I do believe you are trying to bake the pain away.
This
this made my day
Too awesome!
Ha!
Hilarious!
Made this tonight for a dinner. Everyone loved it! Also made the macaroni salad. They loved that too. Thanks so Much!
Chef John, I'd like to double the amount of the crust topping? Will it still work?
I just made this cobbler with apples and it turned out absolutely amazing! This is by far the best cobbler recipe I've ever tried and I have tried several. The only thing I did different is add cinnamon to the fruit. It's just perfect. Thanks, chef John!
I'll see your apple cobbler and raise you a cherry cobbler :) :) :)
Missy Minx ...Perfect !!!
Thanks for sharing 😳😳
I was considering apples as well but I was apprehensive
Now I'll give it a go...🙌
Missy Minx, help! Did you peel your apples first? Apple skins are a bit tougher than peach skins. Making this for a special someone and wanting it to come out perfect... ;)
I'm adding about a half teaspoon CornStarch and half cup of sugar to the Peaches
Love your voice and how you talk the recipe.
Was that a Peaches lyric shout out?! Amazing. 😂. What else is in the teaches of peaches, Chef John?
We love his peach cobbler and his unique special way of
talking us through it.
I always add a can of cherry pie filling to the large can of peaches to make a bigger cobbler. But his fresh peaches and crust recipe is best.
But you gotta add cinnamon to those peaches.
That was my thought during the video and I am a genius.
That shits gonna be tart as hell
@@tracielansing8938 Yum! Tart sounds good with the contrast of the sweet!
@@tracielansing8938 Ripe peaches will never be tart
@@tracielansing8938 You're supposed to get sweet, ripe peaches. There's more than enough sugar in the peaches and in the crust to even out the tartness of the lemon juice,
I made this for the 4th of July tomorrow and it turned out great! Thanks for the awesome video!
I love the way he talks 😂🙌🏼
MarvilaMusic it’s annoying! 😂 it’s like he’s trying to stay in certain rhythm. Just talk Normal!
I made this yesterday. It is all you said it would be, very delicious. I used my stand mixer, as I didn’t need a workout. I did dot my peaches with small pieces of butter. This recipe is a keeper!
the teaches of peaches?! omg that reference !!!
I really enjoyed this video and now I'm going enjoy your recipe for this amazing peach cobbler ... Thanks!!!!
