Thanks for the video. It helped me troubleshoot my own dead dishwasher. My bimetal fuse was fine (and your video helped me find it and prevent my shocking myself). I traced wire connections until I found a loose harness connecting to the touch panel, and now it's all fixed. One major correction, though: It's a KitchenAid, not a Whirlpool. The wrong video title may stop other users from finding it.

Thank you for the video. It was very helpful. I liked your "industrial plastic" comment. I work on cars and everything is getting cheesier all the time. Ron

When reinstalling the panel cover the fuse wires should be outside. Skip back to the removal and you will see the two black wires are not routed under the cover. That way the fuse can be removed, tested and changed without removing the panel cover.

the reason for the little doo-dad on the end of the replacement fuse is for flexibility on other systems. you could have just replaced the fuse itself.
Some repairmen online have said that the fuse connections go bad over time. With that said, I've just swapped out the fuse on mine (this exact model) and it worked just fine. Despite this disagreement on how to do the repair, this is definitely one the better HOWTO videos I've seen.

But, why was the thermal fuse bad? Aren't there larger issues at stake that caused it to short-circuit? Thanks.
