African cichlids are definitely not a beginner fish. I started keeping African cichlids after becoming a member of your channel. I really really enjoy keeping African cichlids because of the amount of special care that they need. I guess you could call it a labor of love.
Definitely the Africans go back and forth with some speed and the Americans (Jaguar,Midas,Severum )etc also tend to pick an area they like to hang out in
Any of the South or Central Americans, minus the true giants like Dovi or Peacock Bass, can live in a 4 foot tank without issue. I wouldn't keep multiple big cichlids in a 4 footer, but a single Oscar, Jack Dempsey, even a single Jaguar can live a long, healthy life in a 48x18 footprint.
They aren't cichlids, but believe it or not, the South American silver arowana is a mouth brooder. I did not know that until I recently saw a short where they stripped a female of her babies.
I have mentioned to you once before with no reply which is all good you can't reply to everyone I understand but I noticed you have never owned a Malawi Barracuda I have a large specimen talking about a real diverce looking fish this one hits the spot and I can say mine is quite laid back keeps to itself maybe one day consider this fish love all the good work you do keep it up 👍👍
Ben i just got the opportunity to get some 5 inch Texas cichlid, a CriboHero Rostratus, and a Paratroplus Nourissati to,go in my established 300G south/central tank with same size cichlids in it. Have you had any of these and how were they ?

They are certainly not for everybody and definitely a labor of love!
Bless you 😊
Hiya beautiful people! 🙋 Let's get TANK'd!!! 🥴
I'm catching the replay. I was on during the stream, but I was at a Pre Pearl Jam show, and I really couldn't hear you then. 😊
I always try to have a plan, too, but I usually get derailed 10 minutes in. The chatters always take me in directions I had not anticipated 😂
Absolutely would enjoy seeing the cleaning of the filter as everybody is not a experienced, fish keeper
You definitely need lots of Africans, lots of site breaks, lots of filtration with the African tanks

Also my American cichlids are generally much larger than my Africans of course that is because of the species I keep

I definitely keep my African tank all male
70!?!?!? 😮

I have more brilliant solid colors in the African tank lots of Peacocks and Haps but more patterns among my Americans
Gotta get into the predatory jewels the king of the cichlids Henichromis Fasciatus then Frempongi the 5 star generals

Hi Mark! They are certainly a unique looking fish. Perhaps I’ll add one in the future.
I have also had a higher murder rate among my Africans even though I have the Jaguar and Midas in the American tank

Never owned those.
