Loving this Rochelle!!! Would you have believed a decade ago that you'd go from living in your parents ground floor to living in and owning business in Africa and moving city to city??? Life can change dramatically for you and your whole family when you take big brave steps. I made a decision and will be graduating this year from a top university that I never dreamed I would get into. But I had to do something different as I was stuck in a vicious cycle and stagnant. There are many gated estates in Lekki with all amenities inclusive eg water, 24 hrs electricity, waste management, security, playgrounds for the kids, gyms etc, shopping centre etc- you pay service charge yearly for all these tho. Get a reputable agent who will show you some of these places....you will live very comfortably in such places and not have to bother about utility issues
A big issue in Nigeria and West Africa generally is there is often a lack of standardization in housing - that's why historically almost everybody built their own. Because if you rent, you're going to be subject to another person's aesthetics which includes where they randomly decide to cut corners. In that showcase house, it is clear that by the time the owner got to the bathroom they lost all interest. To get contemporary finishes reflecting universal standards, you'll have to pay more in a new estate. Also renters in Nigeria legit change finishing... like you can remove that whole tile and replace it to what you want (relatively inexpensively) and the landlord would have no issue.
Just a little tip, those houses are not gone, base on what you filled on the forms, you where not seen as a potential occupant. The form is a screening tool. Good luck in your search and that's Nigeria for you.
Hi Rochelle, I ve got a newly built house at The Estate Oganbo road. This is our property and I can assure you, it’s something you would love….We live in Australia and just finished building. L kindly let me know if interested.
For your own power, get a solar panel and inverter. Its just what it is and Nigerians have been used to this and people have been thriving. With an inverter, you have constant power till the power from the main grid comes up. Lets not act like the over 220 million people in Nigeria including millons of foreigners are all dead. We all get to a new environment, and see what obtains there and make adjustments to keep going. Its all choice, some communities offerr 24hrs uninterrupted electricity as well. There are other cities with more constant power, up to 20hrs per day. Don't act like you are in the US or the developed world. Even GH and SA have daily power cuts nowadays.

No, moulds are indoors despite Lagos being swampy. It is hot sunshine most of he year. The reason that floor looks like it is having moulds is because it has not been thoroughly cleaned and the tiles poorly done with cavities. Probably the cements are still left there after completing building the house. You basically have to clean those cavities.

The truth is that everybody is building in Lekki and poorly. She should look at some old area like Ikoyi. There are some cool vertical apartments where she can get something better at the same price despite not a gated community but usually have fences..
I looked at townhomes with similar layouts and steep stairs here in NJ and NY and passed bc thinking of going down such steep steps with a child gave me anxiety. Either a big open layout apt or a true house. Also, if one is buying, I understand and encourage investing in a neighborhood still being built, for return on investment. But if you are renting (and not at a cheap price), why not live in an already completed area so you can enjoy the area too?

One advice: Don't take prices at face value. Sometimes, agents (let's say Agent B) take advertising work from other agents (let's say Agent A) and act merely as introducers. They might increase the rental/sale price by a little amount. This is why you can go to some property websites and see the same apartment advertised for different prices. Agent A (the original agent) advertised it for N13m. Which was the intended price by the landlord. Agent B (the introducer) advertised it for N14m. Which is a N1m add-on that they would gladly take if you can afford it. Considering you are paying percentages as legal and agent fees, they are also milking extras in that. So, do negotiate the price as much as possible. NEVER show you are desperate or don't have alternative options.
Like I said in your previous video, Nigeria is a very competitive and progressive society. You just have to be fast because whatever that you are thinking in your head another person is already working on it or still perfecting on it 😀

Hi, new subscriber here, I will advise working with more than one agent for more options, there are more beautiful and way less houses on the island to rent for sure. Get a place in a serviced estate, for better security and 24 hrs electricity etc, and of course some of them come with a pool , if possible a new built, and unfurnished. Unfurnished usually come with a fitted kitchen, and closets so u can furnish the rest yourself it way cheaper n better to get unfurnished than furnished with ridiculous rent. The houses you showed in my opinion are definitely not worth the price, go further into Lekki if you must like chevron or even Abraham Adesanya, you will get newer, beautiful and cheaper houses with nice finishing, get a trusted person who lives in Lekki or even Nigeria to come with you when viewing also if you see one you like, ask questions from the residents in the estates before making a deposit. If you take your time and make tiny compromise you will definitely get what you want, Good luck my love.

Dear Rochelle, I wanted to share some concerns I have about the potential move to Nigeria for you and your family, especially your kids. Considering the country’s reputation for safety concerns, I believe it’s essential for you to take your time and conduct thorough research before making any decisions. I suggest dedicating six months to a year to gather information, exchange experiences with people who have lived in Nigeria, and understand the current situation firsthand. Given that your partner hasn’t lived in Nigeria for quite some time, this research period could provide valuable insights into any changes or challenges since then.❤
Aw. Thanks. We actually met a Canadian couple who moved to Nigeria. They’ve been living there for three years. So they will definitely give us all the intel we will need. And introduced us to other Xbox just like us. That will definitely help us navigate in Nigeria!
My question is, why is a Ghanian that has NEVER been to Nigeria before giving advise on Nigeria as tho he were a Nigerian??? Boy I tell you , these Ghanaians are Hella Deceptive..
Yup, we see it girl! And that’s a little annoying because it seemed to be like that in most of the houses. Hopefully, you find something that you don’t have to compromise with.🙏🏽❤️

What i love about Nigerian homes compared to Ghanaian ones is that they typically have better finishings. They dont use the tacky doors, tiles, or lighting. etc. that Ghanaian homes typically have. You definitely get value for money as compared to Ghana.
I’m stressed out just hearing about all the things you have to take in consideration. Wow it’s a lot. And I have a toddler and those stairs in most of those places gave anxiety. But it’s fun to see what different countries have to offer. My coward ass is staying put in Canada. Even tho dem yearly prices is like 4 months mortgage payment 😩 over here.
The thing is, if you want to skimp in Nigeria then you won’t enjoy it. You need money to enjoy Nigeria. Even for general safety you need money. Rochelle I suggest y’all increase y’all budget because the houses y’all were looking at are all very ugly. For safety you need to try and find a gated community. You have kids, so please take extra precautions.
Yeah that tile is a mess for absolutely no reason. I don’t get the builders doing all that work and not wanting it to look good, like they did it so sloppy but there was so much potential lol
Hey Rochelle, I know you intend to move to Nigeria at all costs, but considering how these apts are taken whenever you fill out the forms raises much concern. As you did state earlier, if these apts are taken, why do they give you forms to fill? Please take your time to do more diligent work before making the move.
The properties are still on the market when you're given a form to fill, however, the properties are on a first come first serve basis and there are so many people looking for homes to rent. So you can fill out the form but an hour later someone who has their money ready will pay and take the property. That's how it goes.
Population increase & infrastructure built during colonial times cannot accommodate or keep up with the population. Part of the problem is most Governments have the capacity to fix the issue but because of corruption & greediness they would rather not make changes that benefit the population.
It's not always. There are periods of crisis and there are African cities with really good power supply. But as usual with Africa it's the negative news that dominates on the Internet not the positive ones.
They use the proceeds from the first tenant to finish the remaining parts of the houses. It's no big deal. Either you choose it or not. Building an estate is capital intensive so hence why they need the final payments to complete it
She will be fine. Blessings to you and your family. Its where you choices to live and how. Yah, will always protect you all. I wish you can buy a house there instead. You have a good head on your shoulders so i expect great things to gwaan mi gal. Love 💖💖💖💖 safe journey. Shalom

Ye those tiles are definitely not brand New
I like the 2nd house that u like as well
Dear Rochelle,
I wanted to share some concerns I have about the potential move to Nigeria for you and your family, especially your kids.
Hopefully, you find something that you don’t have to compromise with.🙏🏽❤️
that's a lie. It's not in most of the houses. Have you been to all the houses in Nigeria?
@@sean-et4wr when I said most , I was speaking on the houses that she showed us ….and it was most of them! Again, hopefully she will fine something she loves and doesn’t have to compromise.
you better rent a house at victoria island or osapa london .
What i love about Nigerian homes compared to Ghanaian ones is that they typically have better finishings. They dont use the tacky doors, tiles, or lighting. etc. that Ghanaian homes typically have. You definitely get value for money as compared to Ghana.
This is tru
Lol
Facts💯
I’m stressed out just hearing about all the things you have to take in consideration. Wow it’s a lot. And I have a toddler and those stairs in most of those places gave anxiety. But it’s fun to see what different countries have to offer. My coward ass is staying put in Canada. Even tho dem yearly prices is like 4 months mortgage payment 😩 over here.
I cant believe in this day and age they still need to operate like this. Light or no light !? Cmon
Wow!! This is a lot!!!!!
Are these places rent to own..its so pricey😩 or does the location play a part as into how high the rent is?1
Yeah that tile is a mess for absolutely no reason. I don’t get the builders doing all that work and not wanting it to look good, like they did it so sloppy but there was so much potential lol
Hey Rochelle,
I know you intend to move to Nigeria at all costs, but considering how these apts are taken whenever you fill out the forms raises much concern. As you did state earlier, if these apts are taken, why do they give you forms to fill? Please take your time to do more diligent work before making the move.
We have Whites, Chinese & Indians living & doing Business in Nigeria 🇳🇬 I’m sure Rochelle will be just fine…
The properties are still on the market when you're given a form to fill, however, the properties are on a first come first serve basis and there are so many people looking for homes to rent. So you can fill out the form but an hour later someone who has their money ready will pay and take the property. That's how it goes.
Can someone please explain to me why the electricity always goes out in Africa?
Population increase & infrastructure built during colonial times cannot accommodate or keep up with the population. Part of the problem is most Governments have the capacity to fix the issue but because of corruption & greediness they would rather not make changes that benefit the population.
More of a Corruption thing
Africa is a continent. Which of the 54 countries are you referring to?
It's not always. There are periods of crisis and there are African cities with really good power supply. But as usual with Africa it's the negative news that dominates on the Internet not the positive ones.
@@mimi-pb5gn thank you for the explanation and understanding. 🙂
How do they show a place looking like that? I can understand under construction but my goodness lol🤦🏾♀️
Another Debby-Downer..Smh
@@Mkym365 you must want an award
They use the proceeds from the first tenant to finish the remaining parts of the houses. It's no big deal. Either you choose it or not. Building an estate is capital intensive so hence why they need the final payments to complete it
@@MissCriticizer Thanks for explaining!
She will be fine. Blessings to you and your family. Its where you choices to live and how. Yah, will always protect you all. I wish you can buy a house there instead. You have a good head on your shoulders so i expect great things to gwaan mi gal. Love 💖💖💖💖 safe journey. Shalom
Rent in abuja is better at the end of the day and the power is better too.
Shut up
Rochelle, may god protect you and make your wishes come true❤ Btw you are so beautiful!
The bathroom tiles are Nigeria made that’s why but they are new
Am a Nigerian but you just got my sub
Why they don’t clean the homes before showing them?
Cause they expect you to use your brain to determine how it will look when it’s finished lol
@@RochelleOfficially Rochelle!!!!! 😩😩😩😩😩😂😂😂😂😂😂
Move to Abuja. Abuja is more conducive.
You’re def not nit picking those tiles did not look brand new I see it lol
"Good, job. "Rochelle.😀.
Roro, are you still best friends with Chanelle?
Absolutely !

More negative comments about Nigerians loading. It’s been eye opening learning what our fellow Africans think about us through these videos, especially Ghanaians that we used to love so much. Anyways, no more unity. Everyone should stay in their lane.
This is the first time in your life that you’ve heard negative comments from other Africans towards Nigerians? Not saying it’s right but let’s not pretend that it’s not the norm.
In more current times the AFCON was a few months ago. The whole internet was on fire.
Immediately you see a negative comment you assume it's a Ghanaian. It says a lot about you. Do you realize most of the negative news we get on social media is from Nigerians? We live peacefully with our Nigerian brothers and sisters in Ghana.
@@nenemens 90% are from Ghanaians..Some of them create ids with Nigerians names
@@Sabigalriri Mr CIA. I like how you're speaking with so much authority like you've done the investigation. A ghanaian using a Nigerian identity for what? We're proud of our country. What part of the island is this ?
What about Solar?
Yes. That’s what we are getting. They also refer to it as “inverter system”
If possible ask to speak with the landlord and pay in an office and don’t forget your receipt 😂
It should be possible 💯 Don’t trust these people. I live in Abuja and i know how desperate for money people can be. Just being very careful

The ones in Ghana are worse

All your comments on Nigeria has been Negative, you seem to just be a miserable person..Smh
Trust me in some aspects it is. As Nigeria is bigger, has a bigger population and more money than Ghana does. So naturally there’s more advancement, with that being said like all over the world. There’s good and bad parts
@@africasfinest52 a city that every house use borehole in this 21st century, you have to generate your own electricity. 63% of the population lives below the poverty line. Come on. What do u call development then? Buildings or what. Come to Accra and see if you will find a borehole anywhere
@@apologeticsreview7988 You are very funny to be comparing Accra to Lagos. Lagos is more developed, please.
@@apologeticsreview7988 Hey, before you start attacking Nigeria, please smell yourself first. I have been to Accra, Lagos, Abuja, and there is no comparison. Lagos and Abuja has way more infrastructures than Accra. Please stop being bitter. Ghana will forever live in the shadows of Nigeria. That is why you Ghanaians always throw shots at NIgeria unprovoked. So, please stop being so bitter.
The last time I checked, your tiny little country Ghana is already bankrupt, and majority your people live in object poverty! No electricity. High cost of living. Corruption. All you do is wait for your government to give handouts. Please, don't even go there about development. Ghana has nothing on Nigeria when it comes to that.
Fun facts: Lagos economy (GDP) is larger than that of your country Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Senegal, Guinea, Benin Republic , Togo, and Sierra Leone all put together. The electricity that powers the entire Ghana, can not even power half of Lagos. Let that sink in.
I say this to say that, a tiny little country like Ghana with only 30 million people is already bankrupt. You still owes Nigeria over $200 million for gas and diesel supplied to power your electricity. Ghana still haven't paid. You wonder why the Ghanaian government said they do not have no money to buy gas and diesel to run your power plants last week. Ghan is neck-dip in debt. So please stop being bitter and a sore loser.
9:39 is that mold everywhere????????

As a nigerian. I dont like these houses. Head to banana island and get a house and checkout chevron housing units.

Lol I was kinda picky! But the was just always something 🤣🤣
If you have this much for rent why don’t you just buy or build to your preference
And live where during that time... My God what is wrong with you lovely people
Why do you move without finding a place first. I thought your partner will make this easier for you
We underestimated the difficulty in securing a place for sure! We have the money. It’s just actually winning the place
But he should have gone and done the due diligence, secure the place and then you go to Nigeria with the 3 children… why are you in Nigeria running around with 3 children like that… live the soft life a little bit, lady.
You do realize that your subscription base consists of more than just Canadians right????
Is this a g l o b a l thing with the power issues or an exclusive thing to the A continent. The A continent seems to assist with powering up a number of E u r o p e a n countries.
South Africa you pay monthly rent just like America 😊
20 million for what? I could become a king of a kingdom for that amount in the north central.
I would say the homes in Nigeria do look better than some of the ones you showed in Ghana…. But Rochelle baby just come to America stink.
Why the doors so high
Because it’s mainly double height ceilings
Been waiting for this video …. I personally didn’t like none of the places it’s not well finished and your right too many stairs , don’t settle unless your happy with the right place . LOL TAKE THE STAIR AWAY TO HEAVEN 😂😂😂😂
