I am a part of Gen Z and agree that Gen Z is too sensitive. Just know some of us are capable of intelligent, reasonable reactivity rather than constantly seeking a reason to express blind rage with cancel culture and things of that nature
As an older member of gen Z it’s important to remember that the majority of gen z are still children, many of which are currently in their teens, the oldest members being only in their early twenties. This generation is still in the process of learning and growing and establishing what their values and opinions are as every generation has done previously during these important developmental years. Of course they seem sensitive. Who wasn’t at these ages? However, just because they are young doesn’t mean that they are dumb, and that doesn’t mean that they aren’t making a good point. It’s admirable how they have even as children pushed for social change. Older generations should be proud that they have helped raise a generation that is not afraid to speak their mind and not afraid to hold others accountable and question authority. Young people have always been known for changing the status quo and pushing for social change. I’m sure back in their youth, even boomers were seen as “too sensitive” by older generations.
The problem is as a gen X who had to live by my own in very difficult social and work conditions (low salaries, no jobs, expensive appartements, lot of bullying) hearing those heavy privileged young people complaining about being oppressed is overwhelming. Even more when they want to " awake or educate you" after never been through anything. They are the kings and queens of labelling people to silence them.
Gen Z is absolutely too sensitive, and I say this as a younger millennial. Rather than work through a problem, they’ll just break down because they’re taught to give in too easily. They need to learn to take responsibility for their lives and gain resilience in the face of adversity , I.e toughen up.
