Now I see clearly what the problem could be at the ends of the rows of flat panel, I will definitely have a go.I have watched many and told to pull the yarn tight at each end but didn't understand the yarn had to drop under the red prong before reversing. Thankyou so much for explaining this to the members like myself that have never braved making a flat panel before. I am well impressed.
FIVE YEARS AGO i watched this and commented! i remembered it and searched for it because i remembered what a great lesson it was. i’m using your BAM technique and it’s GREAT. Thank You again!❤
Thank you! I have tried and tried to do flat panels but stitches always dropped. Now that I've watched this, I'll try again. UPDATE, I've tried it and I can do it!!! You're my new best friend.
Thank you so much for that! I was about to give up doing flat panel on my Addi. Couldn't figure out why my end stitches were dropping... grrrrrr.... Now i will start doing them again. Thank you again!
FINALLY! Someone shows the details of the edges of a flat knit panel as you are knitting it and how to make sure that last stitch is knitted properly! Thank you!! I kept dropping stitches and coming up with loose edges and could not figure out what I was doing wrong!!
I do not have a machine yet, but I am trying to simultaneously save the money and clear a spot for it at the same time😂. But I’m watching videos like crazy, and the flat panel thing just had me mystified. Why does no one use the panel feature? It seems like in every video I’ve seen people say to leave it in tubular or circular mode. Is there some special (bad) magic thing that putting it in the panel mode does that you guys don’t like? Everybody kept telling me look at the red bar, look at the red bar, and I had no idea what I was looking for. Finally someone who filmed it from an angle that made it obvious! 👍🏼 This makes it perfectly clear if doing a full panel. If you want to do less than a full panel, would you mark where your last one would be or do you just know from experience when to reverse it? It’s pretty easy when you’ve got those three black pegs but if you were only doing 20 stitches I assume you would either mark the last one somehow, at least temporarily, so you know when to tug your yarn down. Would weights on the ends help that last stitch go down all the way? I noticed almost everybody has to manually push it down which seems really strange to me.
Amazing! Again, another great Addi tutorial video. I LOVE the way you explain and show 'exactly' what happens at the end of each flat panel row. No one has ever shown that and it is the KEY to making flat panels! Thank you so much for doing this for our group ( Addi Addicts on facebook) Fantastic! Hugs, Lyn
After watching you I think I just might be able to make a flat panel. Great instructions, can see clearly how I should be doing the edge. Thank you so much.
Thanks! Was trying to decide if it was worth buying those plastic stoppers. I can see it is a waste. I have never knitted before but, after watching a few videos I can see that it is very easy. Now, once I get that machine my tune could change. I could see ( if I can be successful) I could start a side business on Etsy. Had never looked into this before- my daughter moved to Illinois for school. We are learning about the cold weather. We live about 1 mile from the beach so we do not experience the weather. I can see that it might something I need to experience. You have a great video! Thank you very much!

You can also use those colorful rubberbands for the rubber and looms as markers for visual stoppers for more narrow panels if you like the idea of the stoppers but not like the fact it literally stops you.
Man! This video was great! My last stitches kept dropping as well, and the way you showed how to make sure it’s pushes down prior to knitting and right after, was great! Thank you!
Thank very much, you are so helpful. I will try the tips. I was struggling with the flat panel, tried many times and gets messed up, but I was using the knitting machine from Michaels also I tried with the Singer that causes problem too. But Singer is great for the round. This is my top wish list for Santa Clauss: the king addi, and I want the one that comes with the clumps/table holder. I can't stress enough, you are so lovely and generous. Don't change. LOL.
Thank you so much. You are so kind. Panels can be a pain in the butt. I still drop stitches . do you want to know my secret weapon, variegated yarn. It can mask a few drop stitches that you may have missed.Just make sure the edges are perfect. the center stitches can have a few missed mistakes🙂
I'm glad i was able to make it clear for you. thank you for stopping by my channel. If you like more videos like this make sure you are a subscriber. I come out with new tutorials oftern
Just out of curiosity, how fast can you do say 5 inches of flat panel? I'm going to be doing charity scarves and I'm trying to get an idea of how fast I can crank out a 50" long scarf once I have some experience. It won't be a full panel, but you might as well assume it is as it will probably take quite a while to work up to your full speed, so your full panel will probably be about right for my partial panel. :-D
@@LittlejohnsYarn I got my Sentro knitting machine last Friday. I've made 4 scarves for a charity event and now that I have the hang of this machine I'm doing about an inch per minute. I can get a 50" panel done in a little less than an hour, although the scarves take about 3 hours as I'm doing some ribbing on the ends and down the sides to keep them from rolling so badly.
Great video! Thank you :) On one side of my flat panel, the turning hook grabs more than one loop (and it ends up with two tight loops on the hook). Then, after a while (about 20 rows or so), it gets stuck on that peg when I try to turn. I keep having this problem. Do you have any tips for that? I am using red heart soft (weight 4)
Red Heart weight size can vary. the color Red in RHSS is very thick, while RHSS yellow, orange, teal or variagated color are a thinner strand....You said you hook is picking up 2 loops, what is actually happening is you missed a loop from the previous row. This is a tucked stitch. 2 important times to watch the yarn when working....1 the needles to the left of the feeder. Watch them rise up. the yarn will drop to the base of the needle around the double pegs...when this doesnt drop all the way it can create a tucked/ missed stitch...2 Now that hook latches on to the new yarn from the feeder. make sure that yarn get tucked back in (while cranking) and keeping the yarn from "step 1" around the double pegs......those two areas are where all dropped stitches occur.
when i first recieve my Addi I thought I understood how the mechanism worked but i didn't, lol. I really had to get up there and look very closely. And it did take me a while. but Eventually it clicked. I don't have to cranky slowly anymore. Dont give up. it will click
You are very welcome. I have a new Facebook group dedicated to the Addi & Crochet. Would love to have u as a member. m.facebook.com/groups/139574133317097?ref=bookmarks
It's all in the last stitch of each row, When the working yarn drops below the red double ped, the row is complete. Pull the work yarn tight, then reverse the direction.
Littlejohn's Yarn I worked on it last night and FINALLY GOT MY 1st Flat Panel!!! I watched that last stitch at both ends and Praise God!!! It worked! If it wasn’t for finding you and your tutorials I would have sold it! I had the smaller Addi brand new, but I bought the 46 Addi used and figured it must be the machine and worn down How do you feel about the Sentro??
I'm so glad that I could help! Your story is my story. I was about to sell it after spending $$$. I sat there and stared at it forever, lol. Thankfully I figured it out....... I have heard wonderful things about the Sentro, but I have not used it myself. My friend Jojo Juju , she had a Addi TH-cam channel, she like it & uses them in her videos sometimes.

Lynnette Monrean I think the camera angle helps. I accidentally found out my camera fits in the middle of my addi perfectly😂
Well that is a very clever discovery! Excellent idea!
Thank you again hon

Thank u. I remember it took me forever til I figured out how to flat panel. I didn't click until I truly had a good look
Very helpful on how it drops over the red thing
Watching the yarn drop below the red thingy is the key to not dropping stitches. I'm so glad I could help
Clear explanation. Once I knew what to look out for. I am now able to do flat panels successfully. Thank you.
I'm so glad I could help. That was my issue at first too. Waiting for it to drop over the last peg makes it so much easier
Thank you for this!
I am considering getting a machine like this to make tunics for myself. Fast panels are essential to that process!
I have to try making a flat panel now! This looks pretty easy to do with the help of this terrific video. Thank you!

thank you this is a very clear demonstrastion, it really helped me to understand.
Great video! I’m curious, though, are you using the panel setting or the circular setting? 🤷♀️😁
you make it clear and easy -- thank you!

Great video, I would love to see her assemble a regular ( not crop like some videos) sweater
Very good presentation..

If you hang some weight on the end stitches you won't have them hanging up and not dropping down on the last needle.
Super great tutorial
