The Tour - My Musical Playground
I enjoy watching tours of music producer’s studios. Sometimes it leaves me lusting for more, but it always inspires me. So, I thought I would produce a tour of my space.
I don’t call it a studio, though that word sometimes slips out of my mouth. Calling my 9.5’ x 9.5’ bedroom (it was my childhood bedroom) a studio seems a little pretentious. So, I call it my “Musical Playground!”

For the Techies:
Narration: I recorded my narration directly into Reaper. The signal chain was: Beyerdynamic M201 TG microphone, into a Midas 502 500 series Preamp, into an Allen&Heath ZEDi10 mixer/interface and into Reaper. I used the UADx LA-2A Tube Compressor and Waves L1+ Ultramaximizer.
Background Ambient: I decided I needed some ambient background music so I played random chords and notes, using the Arturia Keystep 37 and the Arturia Pigments Plugin, set to the Cityzen Bridge Preset.
The videos were shot with a Fujifilm XS-10 (Fuji 18-55mm lens), FujiFilm XT3 (Fuji 10-24mm lens) and an iPhone 8 and an iPhoneSE.
The final video was edited in Adobe Premiere Elements 2023.
Recording and monitoring was through an Allen&Heath ZEDi10 with Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones.
