Thanks for posting this, my MG100HDFX had a slightly different two pin adapter and I was able to use my PC PSU pin tool to just remove the black/red leads and then I installed a Noctua NF-A6x25 with the NA-RC12 lead, no soldering required but again my two pin connector is standard fan style unlike yours... cheers
Did the NF A6 fit the screw holes? I was also thinking of it, since when not ordering from Aliexpress directly those small fans cost almost the same as the Noctua would.
My hdfx100 head is making a vibration type noise that gets worse when you tap on the top im thinking something is just loose like a ground or something ? What do you think 🤔 cheers 🍻
On dis/reassembly and while working beware of shorting charge capacitors in the circuitry with metal tools or flesh and thereby damaging the amp or shocking yourself.
Hello m8. My footswitch input no longer works : whenever I insert a jack cable into it, the amp switches to the clean channel (no matter which channel I have previously selected) turning off the red channel selection led. And there is no way to change the channel when the jack is into it, either manually or by footswitch. I have to unplug the jack from the footswitch input to get the channel selection to work again (only manually by button of course). Any tips about this kind of issue? Evrything inside is fine and nothing is broken / unsoldered. Evry pin connector is correctly plugged in, and previously the footswitch input (and footswitch) worked fine. I cheked the footswitch too to see if it was a pedal issue, but evrything it's ok with it too. And the problem comes even when I plug a normal jack cable into it.
yes, they run whenever the amps powered up, you can get a MUCH quieter fan, I used a Noctua NF-A6x25 in mine, can't hear it at all unless I'm behind it and very close
And I finally got around to replacing it. For future folks, if you want lower noise, use a hydraulic bearing fan, lower noise, shorter life. If you’re ok with a little more noise, but want a longer life, use a dual ball bearing one. I’m going to try a lower noise one but the others I’ve had like them only last a year, two at the most.

And are the screws long enough to still grip into the heatsink?
Is there a way to lubricate it with white lithium grease or something?
i did everything like you did and replaced 2 fans when i put it back no sound after a while still makes sounds why ?

can i just disable the fan if i just quietly practice at home?
I would strongly advise not to do that, as it'll cause the amp to overheat with time and damage it.
Install a new fan! I put a Noctua NF-A6x25 in mine

PC paste is same deal, Arctic Silver, etc... this heatsink isn't doing a lot of work, but it's important all the same

I used a Noctua NF-A6x25 in mine, any 60x60x25mm will do the job, but the Noctua brand is famous for quiet and reliable fans

Agreed! Highly recommend swapping it with a Noctua NF-A6x25 just to quiet it down
