Finally, somebody gets how this song should be sung. So many big name singers have tried and failed to nail this one down. Well done David Mallett. Best version since Don Gibson.
I always loved the "Garden Song" but only recently realized the prodigious talent from which it and many other great songs have sprung. David Mallet has a wonderful voice and his phrasing and timing are superb. If you have not heard "One of those things " I would highly recommend it to you all.
I've been a fan of Dave's music for many, many years -- got to hear him play live in an intimated house concert setting here in Austin back in the 90s (I think). He's such a fine writer. Great to hear him do such a wonderful job on this classic song. Thanks for posting!
Wonderful cover of this old Don Gibson song by Maine's super songwriter and singer, David Mallett. If you ever get a chance to see David in concert, you'll enjoy every minute of his performance. He's real, authentic, and riveting.
One, two, one, two, three, four The lights in the harbor Don't shine for me I'm like a lost ship adrift on the sea The sea of heartbreak Lost love and loneliness Memories of your caress So divine how I wish you were mine Again my dear I am on this sea of tears Sea of heartbreak Oh how did I lose you Oh where did I fail Why did you leave me Always to sail The sea of heartbreak Lost love and loneliness Memories of your caress So divine how I wish you were mine Again my dear I am on this sea of tears Sea of heartbreak Oh what I'd give just to sail back to shore Back to your arms once more Come to my rescue Oh, come here to me Take me and keep me Away from the sea The sea of heartbreak Lost love and loneliness Memories of your caress So divine how I wish you were mine Again my dear I am on this sea of tears Sea of heartbreak

So wonderful!
One, two, one, two, three, four
The lights in the harbor
Don't shine for me
I'm like a lost ship adrift on the sea
The sea of heartbreak
Lost love and loneliness
Memories of your caress
So divine how I wish you were mine
Again my dear
I am on this sea of tears
Sea of heartbreak
Oh how did I lose you
Oh where did I fail
Why did you leave me
Always to sail
The sea of heartbreak
Lost love and loneliness
Memories of your caress
So divine how I wish you were mine
Again my dear
I am on this sea of tears
Sea of heartbreak
Oh what I'd give just to sail back to shore
Back to your arms once more
Come to my rescue
Oh, come here to me
Take me and keep me
Away from the sea
The sea of heartbreak
Lost love and loneliness
Memories of your caress
So divine how I wish you were mine
Again my dear
I am on this sea of tears
Sea of heartbreak
What a Treat!
MY T FINE job on a great song
