Hi; Just by the look of this setup I think the sailor has inflatable rollers for beaching the craft. Properly stowed ( as they appear to be here) you have also given the hull some emergency buoyancy if swamped. Good idea
I don’t like the look of the under-seat flotation as described in the plans. I’m planning on adding flotation that hopefully will be a better solution. The beach rollers are serving a dual purpose: temporary flotation and to help get the boat out of the surf quickly
