I don't think people realize how important this game was for not only basketball but sports in general. 2K10 was a fun game but the hype and excitement of being able to play with MJ in a game is what drew everyone in and the modes and features in the game is what made everyone stay.

I loaded up the game for the first time and remember just how much I loved it. It started my love for basketball and this game means so much to me.
Best MyPlayer ever. It was legitimately difficult to ball out in the rookie combine and do well as a low overall rookie and it was really satisfying to upgrade your player and watch him get better. So much replayability with different playstyles and different scenarios that would happen like crazy trades. I remember being an all star point guard on the Suns and Lebron actually joined me in free agency.
This is overall an awesome video. You really took me back to the good ol days of 2K. It makes me even more thankful I got to enjoy the franchise in its prime. It's so sad to see how it has turned out today & I hope we see 2K rise back up to this level
Hands down the best basketball game ever. The amount of content was insane. The first game to have Jordan in forever. The Jordan challenge great and really took me back to some great memories. 10/10🔥🔥🔥
I loved 2k11 because that’s the last year I remember rubber banding not being in the game. If somebody outplayed you by 30 points you got beat by 30 points. Now if you outplay a guy by 30 points you win by like 17 points maybe less than that.
@@Dc225_ basically, 2k wants EVERY game to some bs nailbiter, down to wire, close game. I HATE IT. In 2k15, they literally set your players consistency to shit, to guarantee you'll have a difficult time closing out games (as in you'll start missing layups in the 4th quater)
sounds like fifa's momentum mechanic. on the one hand i get the "realism" factor in shifting momentum, but this is a videogame and should be purely based on the players skill
I remember my brother and I playing NBA live all the way into 2010! But I had a couple buddy’s that had swore by 2k since 2k8. The first time I remember playing a 2k game was 2k10 on my buddy’s Xbox360 I was a huge Kobe fan so you know I had to check the post game and fadeaways out and I gotta tell you it was a night and day difference from live . That’s when I realized something felt different but I was stuck on which brand was more noticeable and who had most of the rights to the NBA. (EA). When 2k11 came out I remember me and my brother being in Sams with my mom luckily my brother and I had 30 dollars a piece for some reason that day we put our money together and brought it for the PS3. We got home popped it in and was blown away. My brother picked the Knicks and I had the Lakers and played at MSG. I looked at my brother and said we are never getting a Live game ever again.
The worst part about recent 2ks is that the gameplay is so ridiculous and therefore my career is unplayable it's sad how these games are not even meant to be fun, really fortunate to have witnessed 2k11
This game has the best game mechanics out of all the NBA 2k games. It's the perfect blend of realism and arcade style. I wish 2k would implement this style of gameplay in the newer NBA 2k games. NBA 2k11 proves that gameplay is much more important than graphics.
People overlook 2k12, it introduced like 10 new retro teams. 2k11 had MJ's Bulls and a couple other teams he played against, but 2k12 brought us so many legends. Remember it's intro? The intro was made to show off all the new legends. The controls were much smoother, dribbling was still done with the left stick, but at least all other moves were done with the right stick instead of having to use B / circle for "hop step". Soundtrack was bomb once again, the presentation was the same as 2k11, menus were slicker, graphics were too. It was basically 2k11 2.0. The only feature they removed, as far as I remember, was the scenario mode and the Jordan challenges were replaced with a Legends mode. People bring up 2k11, 2k13 and 2k16 but nobody ever mentions 2k12. Not to mention the game was released just after Rose was MVP and Dirk just "dirked" LeBron out in the finals. Yeah, 2k11 gave us MJ, Magic, Bird, Ewing, Stockton and Malone. But 2k12 added on top of all those: Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robinson, Bill Russell, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Walt Frazier, Kareem, Pistol Pete, Dr. J, Moses Malone, Hakeem, Shaq and Penny, young 'fro Kobe, rookie Duncan and David Robinson, Dominique Wilkins and even Chris Webber... People are demonstrating a failure to show appreciation for 2k12!
I love your vids man. I turned notifications on a while back and don’t regret it. You’re spot on with everything you say about football and basketball ball games. I can’t wait to see what you have planned for this channel, keep it up brother!🙏🏻 (Would love to see NFL fever, NFL Street retrospectives)
I played this game more than every bball ever made combined. 8:28 ..that actually happened to me. My aunt and dad both thought I was watching a game on tnt.
I lived 30 min from Chicago during the 90’s as a teen. This game was a love letter to us especially in Chicago. I remember when this came out, no game has grabbed me like this did. My favorite game of all time.
Hurt my back in 2013 and had a kid I coached tell me how good 2k was. I had quit playing basketball games around 2000 because they were boring. So I start playing 2k13 and I loved it. Have played everyone since. I do have 2k10 and 2k11 on PS3 but never even took the wrapper off. I’m in the process of buying all the2K’s just to have them as a collector! This video has me wanting to play 2k11 and has earned you another sub! Great video and it’s time to bing watch some more of yours!
@@hassanhaulcy Other than the scoreboard disappearing every once and a while I never had problem with that game. Your thinking of 2k12 probably because I always hear that game has bugs all the time and people hated for that. I love 2k12 though because of the features in that game. And I still play 2k13 till this day.
Hassan Haulcy RIGHT! 2k13 was an absolute cheese fest! You couldn’t block dunks, pre-patched Acrobat level 3 allowed you to shoot literal euro step 3s, the spin dunk cheese animation could be triggered anywhere on the court and you couldn’t stop it, and they patched it to where you couldn’t reach at all without getting a foul so all your steals had to be from passes. It was fun for the time, but looking back it, the game was absolutely broken
osurocks 24 couldn’t block dunks, the euro step jump shot that any player with a 75+ rating could make, the spin dunk cheese, dude Gerald green and nick young were as good as Kd on that game 💀
2k10 was my first 2k but 2k11 was the golden one of that era for sure I played tf out of it and this was pre micro transactions so that just makes it so much more special
@Jason Barker I hear you don't ever take your relationship with your dad for granted my dad passed away when I was 17. I remember when he and I would stay up till 3:00 in the morning playing Pac-Man when I was in the third grade on Atari ❣️
8:28 Had that happen to me one time with the original Red Dead Redemption game. My grandpa was walking by where I was playing and stopped and watched for literally about 10mins and then asked if I was watching a movie. He was shocked they let people cuss in video games so much lol This was almost 10 years ago now as well xD
As far as Hip Hop goes 2k15 and 2k16 had the greatest soundtrack. They got 3 of the greatest and most innovative hip hop producers of all time to compile these soundtracks (Pete Rock, DJ Premier and DJ Jazzy Jeff) . To compare how meaningful these 3 guys are to the art . Primo ,Jeff ,and Pete Rock is MJ ,Bird and Magic.
I'm sorry... *2K15???* That game had the most obnoxious soundtrack of any modern 2K. 2K16's soundtrack has all the right to be held in high esteem, but 2K15... Just no... Lol
@@eboy4216 Bro go back and hear it... It was *obnoxious af!* Just a bunch of weird Pharrell crap and some other songs that don't fit in a 2K video game. On god, I do this thing where I listen to the whole soundtrack on release to determine which songs I wanna hear the rest of the year, and I finna turned off more than *half* of it. I do admit some songs were good. "Aerosol Can" is a banger. "That Thing" and "Everlasting Light" are good songs, despite not fitting in a 2K videogame. And "Drop It Like It's Hot" is a classic in every context. But that's about as far as the list goes.
this was 2k at it's best.....before the corruption of vc. remember picking this up on midnight release (it was the last one worth doing that) and playing it that morning. the intro was simply amazing. still remember it to this day. playing as jordan was a dream, but the features, historic teams and gameplay were icing on the cake. it's sad, but it will probably never happen again.
Now these days 2k is as bad as EA and it false advertises it game, Ronnie 2k is the most hated Gaming industry related celebrity, never listens to the community, and has a extremely toxic community.
2K10 Took off with Kobe on the cover and MyPlayer first went in depth with the gameplay. Only right that 2K21 have Kobe back on the cover and this time give us Kobe moments (Like they gave us Jordan moments in 2K11) to relive and play through and when we unlock him, we play his career out starting as a rookie in the 2021 season. I hope somebody see’s this at 2K and makes it happen. Share this if you a Kobe or NBA 2K fan - b_d Side Note for 2K, we will all buy 2 copies most likely. 1 to save and 1 to play. So how bout no VC like back in the day. You can pay for clothes or tats n all that. But let me earn my skill points with gym workouts like the old 2K, that’s the real way. That’s DOING WORK like Kobe. Thank you I’m done
Great video. Got me all damn nostalgic, man. BTW, it also had the best sports game theme song. Snoop Dogg said it right: "NBA 2k11 - best game ever made."
Only thing I disagree with was when you said MyPlayer wasn’t a tedious grind, I understand 2K involves micro-transactions now but in 2K11 you literally started off as a 40 overall, earned very little skill points to upgrade with, and there were way more attribute categories that you had to upgrade. That grind probably takes 10x longer than the grind to 99 now. 2K MyPlayer mode has always been about the grind and putting time into the game.
Yes,it was existed on my PSP that MyPlayer had good microtransactions that you have rewards like 30 assists,100 points, even steals in one game. NBA 2K11 credits used to attribute my player and even unlocks. Also you can practice to reward with credits.
This is my absolute favorite 2K game for sure! I remember being so hyped leading to its release. The game didn't disappoint, and I played a heck ton of it.
Getting done with class freshmen year of college to head back to the dorm and grind on my player all night. Listening to the sound track brought back memories
I grew up playing video games. Especially basketball games. From Double Dribble to Bulls vs Lakers. I thought Nba live 95 was the end all be all, and like Jordan, I took a break from video games. But when I got 2k11, I nearly lost my mind. The commentary in the game was responsive to what was happening in the game. Throw an alley-oop and they would lose their minds. The cool half time recap to the player of the game high light reel. This game is probably why I'll always try to have an Xbox 360 on hand. Classic.
Hey thanks for this... the first 2K I ever played was 15... loved 16 and haven't played it since... 17 on has been horrible... it's very surprising to hear that 2K had it right or was definitely on the right track that far back. #2KBringBackTheFun
one thing i used to always do back then was add the NBA on NBC theme to my arena music for game intros, timeouts, halftime, player of the game, etc. then bump the crowd volume all the way up for that classic NBA on NBC feel.
Been playing 2K since 2K1 on the Dreamcast, haven't played every year's edition but 2K11 on the PS3 really blew me away! 12 was great and I didn't get into 13. Since then I've owned 16, 17, 19 and now 2K24. I'd say 24 is the best one since 16 but none of them are as good as 2K11 is/was!
I wish I could see how many hours I put in on this game because I know I basically skipped 2K12 and didn't really care about 2K13 so I was on this game kinda heavy no lie. I played a couple MyPlayer games and a few online head to head matches during Lockdown in 2020 and the game still felt exactly the same as it did to me when I was 14 staying up to 4 in the morning on a school night playing crew with the homies lmao
My best friend and I played my career so much it consumed us. Probably have 1000’s of hours on it. It makes me miss my childhood and the memories I made. Man this game will go down in history for decades to come.
Yes indeed. I played this game for 3 years straight. Also, I like that you could modify the real players just like the created players. 2K18 isn’t bad either.
I bought this game 3x. Two copies for ps3 and one for Xbox 360. I still feel like I didn't pay enough for the game, and it also was probably the reason my ps3 died.
I remember picking it up day one. Stayed up all day playing. The gameplay was great and the Jordan Challenges brought back memories of my Bulls. And seeing some retro teams was even better. They did a great job with 2K11.
2k’s secret was the foundation wasn’t 2k11. It was all of the old 2ks on the ps2 and Xbox, They built on their engine every year. Go back and play 2k6 on 360. Then play 2k7 and 2k8. You can see where all the animations and building blocks come from. Through 2k9 and 2k10 you see them refine and add more and more. 2k11 is 2k10 with even more refinement and now a fully realized Jordan mode. 2k12 and 2k13 were 2k just going all out. 2k14 on ps4 and Xbox one was the work of 10+ years through two gens. IMO they peaked with 2k16 but even still. Their game today was built through 3 console cycles and years and years of work and refinement. EA tears down their games every gen so they always have to start from ground zero. EA had something special with Live on Ps2 and OG Xbox but scrapped it for the awful 06 and 07 on 360 and ps3 but then found a good stride with NBA Live 08-10 but tore it down and canceled 11,12,13 and still haven’t rebounded. Madden was great on PS2 but has been inconsistent and shallow since because for 360 and ps3 they chose to start over and on PS4 and X1 they never even re added all the things they took out in years prior. 2k just keeps adding. Year after year. That’s why even if their games are pay to win and riddled with micro transactions, you can still have a full offline experience that’s deeper than anything on the market. EA needs to put that work and that time in, if they ever wanna really compete in sports games ever again.
Great comment. Tbh this is a lil off topic but I hope 2k can find a way to make an XFL video game too. They could sell it for a much lower price than Madden , id definitely buy it .

This game was a movie. Those Jordan mode games were so adrenaline inducing. I felt like I was Jordan.
I wasted a lot of hours in this game and I don’t regret a single min of it, this game will always have a special place in my heart!
XCHOZENX dame here bro ✊🏼
I’m about to buy it again right now!! I miss that ish
Learn how to use the word "wasted" in the correct context.
Hands down the best basketball game ever. The amount of content was insane. The first game to have Jordan in forever. The Jordan challenge great and really took me back to some great memories. 10/10🔥🔥🔥
Also 1st ever NBA 2K game to feature classic teams and NBA EUROLEAGUE teams.
I loved 2k11 because that’s the last year I remember rubber banding not being in the game. If somebody outplayed you by 30 points you got beat by 30 points. Now if you outplay a guy by 30 points you win by like 17 points maybe less than that.
2k13 did not have rubberbanding or neither did 2k14 not have rubberbanding on PS3.
osurocks 24 I disagree.
I havent played 2k in years. What do you mean by this? The game will make you miss shots if you get too far ahead?
@@Dc225_ basically, 2k wants EVERY game to some bs nailbiter, down to wire, close game. I HATE IT. In 2k15, they literally set your players consistency to shit, to guarantee you'll have a difficult time closing out games (as in you'll start missing layups in the 4th quater)
sounds like fifa's momentum mechanic. on the one hand i get the "realism" factor in shifting momentum, but this is a videogame and should be purely based on the players skill
I remember as a kid, when my dad came home with this game. I was so hyped, good memories.
Just gotta say you narrated the hell out of this video ..I like it bro
It's too bad 2K now only focuses on the park and my team. SMH
They need a kobe one just like this 1 next year
I think they will do one for Kobe, next gen will be awesome

I still play NBA 2K11 on my Xbox 360. I still have fun with it.
The only thing that NBA2K lacks is Charles Barkely
Ronald Dave and Reggie miller
and Rasheed Wallace
He’s not gonna join until they pay the legends fairly💯
I had all versions from 2k11 to 2k16 - still pull them out from time to time. 11, 12 and 15 were my favorite ones
So many hours, building so many teams, all started with 2k8 but this one man.
NFL fever 2004 was so underrated and they had a basketball series call NBA inside drive I had 2003 with Paul Pierce on the cover.
I went 0-20 to start an 82 game season before I figured it out. You had to actually call plays! Changed my world....best bball game ever.

@5:28 Patrick “Oohhwing” 😂 But Frfr my first 360 game was this game when I graduated high school. And man it was wayyyyy too legendary, hands down!!!
2k10 was my first 2k but 2k11 was the golden one of that era for sure I played tf out of it and this was pre micro transactions so that just makes it so much more special

I still have my 2K 11 collecting dust next to the tv. My Bulls vs Knicks games on my channel will certainly bring back some memories.
But at least it isn't THAT hard right, I mean, I can still get buckets with a 66 overall SG on Superstar difficulty.
Drogan | I’m just saying it took 10 times longer to get your overall rating up.
Yes,it was existed on my PSP that MyPlayer had good microtransactions that you have rewards like 30 assists,100 points, even steals in one game. NBA 2K11 credits used to attribute my player and even unlocks.
Also you can practice to reward with credits.
Joshua Balondo | The skill points you earned were at a low rate and the overall you started at was in the 40s making the grind much longer.
This is my absolute favorite 2K game for sure! I remember being so hyped leading to its release. The game didn't disappoint, and I played a heck ton of it.
Dope game I remember playing for hours
Notification squad love your vids dude
Getting done with class freshmen year of college to head back to the dorm and grind on my player all night. Listening to the sound track brought back memories
i think that VC destroyed the fun in my career
I grew up playing video games. Especially basketball games. From Double Dribble to Bulls vs Lakers. I thought Nba live 95 was the end all be all, and like Jordan, I took a break from video games. But when I got 2k11, I nearly lost my mind. The commentary in the game was responsive to what was happening in the game. Throw an alley-oop and they would lose their minds. The cool half time recap to the player of the game high light reel. This game is probably why I'll always try to have an Xbox 360 on hand. Classic.
All your videos are poignant but I love you for this one Bruh! 🙏
Hey thanks for this... the first 2K I ever played was 15... loved 16 and haven't played it since... 17 on has been horrible... it's very surprising to hear that 2K had it right or was definitely on the right track that far back.

Who else remember playing the Jordan Challenges?!?! It was Lit 🔥
After years of not playing the game I played it earlier today and remembered how much I loved that game.
This was the first 2k game I ever bought I fell in the love with it
one thing i used to always do back then was add the NBA on NBC theme to my arena music for game intros, timeouts, halftime, player of the game, etc. then bump the crowd volume all the way up for that classic NBA on NBC feel.
this is before the company started just caring about how to sell people on microtransactions
