    Yeah I really like this design, for most consumers you get something you want rather than trade offs, scan zoomed out then zoom in and see if you can identify the subject properly.

      Exactly! The ability to have what's essentially two devices in one is worth the extra weight penalties.

    The AGM Clarion thermal scope has been on the market for about a year now and also has a variable non digital zoom feature, from 35mm to 60 mm

      Nice. Didn't know about that unit. I think iRay's Zoom series made it to market even earlier but their zoom ranges are also quite limited. The reason I went for the Guide now instead of the iRay Zoom when they came out is specifically because of the versatility of the 20-60mm (1.5x-4.5x) range. 20mm is wide enough to sweep large volumes of space and 60mm is tight enough to ID targets at range.

    I need to learn Chinese, its looking to be the only way I'll ever satisfy my Night Vision autism

      Haha true, especially with the amount of NV and thermal products coming out of China nowadays

    what does "nuc" do?

    • @hypemilitaria6447
      @hypemilitaria6447  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It corrects image irregularities due to the sensor heating up unevenly from use. If you notice banding or weird noise artifacts in your thermal image that weren't there when you switched on the unit, it's time to NUC.

    what sort of mount do you use for connecting the tj660 to a tripod? does it wobble?

    • @hypemilitaria6447
      @hypemilitaria6447  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No mount, I simply use the 1/4" tripod screw hole on the bottom of the unit directly. And it does wobble quite a bit since the bottom of the unit isn't flat and doesn't sit flush with the tripod mounting plate

      @@hypemilitaria6447 i have the same experience; i am testing a saddle mount which has been effective so far.
      does your audio work, mine doesnt!

      @hypemilitaria6447  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NightSkyWalkers Mine does. You have to enable it in the menus. It's not good audio though that's for sure.

      @@hypemilitaria6447 it's enabled ..... I can barely hear mine with PC volume on full

      @hypemilitaria6447  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NightSkyWalkers Yeah same with mine. It may have something to do with the microphone being buried under a thick layer of rubber. But I don't tend to use the audio from the scope anyways so it's not a huge deal for me.
