As an English and Western rider, I can't even describe how happy this video makes me to see such an amazing pair who can clearly work well Western yet also stun a crowd with an English saddle!
keep in mind yall, this was all done in a two point postion. unbelieveable. it shows that this horse is gonna do his job no matter how the rider is sitting
Oh man, I really have to FIGHT tears every time I watch this video!!! Such amazing horsemanship! The horse is such a beautiful mover, I was definitely drooling over those lead changes and roll backs!! It's very clear as to how they won! Absolutely outstanding!!!
Yeah, that was probably the most awesome freestyle I've seen. So breathtaking, the heart gets swept up in the emotion and excitement of the sport. Wonderful job. :)
This is only the second time I have ever commented on a video. But I just could not stay away. I was watching the western pleasure congress 2010 classes, made me want to stop riding all together and then I saw this. Everything a person and a horse should be. Creative, Fun, REAL. Congradulations and thanks for giving me faith. Outstanding inside and out!
I can watch this over and over... and it makes me choke up every time. It inspires me to be a better rider. Not because its reining in a racing saddle, but because this rider's skill goes past discipline and focuses on pure ability and communication with the horse. This is also an amazing horse to compliment her rider and accept the different tack while still absolutely loving her job. Fantastic ride, fantastic idea, fantastic horse. You deserved the win, and thank you for the inspiration.
Ohhhh my Gosh! this is simply amazing! I fell in love with Smarty Jones when he ran, this is so well done with every moved timed perfect with not only the music but also the race call!
This is absolutely amazing. Beautiful goosebumpy soundtrack. The athleticism of the rider to stay in racing position is outstanding and the horse is so well trained. Great video!
that was absolutely amazing. probably the best freestyle i've ever seen. they both looked like they were having so much fun! the crowd was going nuts and the horse just fed off of it. loooove it!!!
This was truely an amazing ride! The perfect relationship between horse and rider is unmatchable! The ability 2 do reining in English is a rare skill. Congrats!
One of the MOST amazing things I've ever seen on horseback! The horse was great, but the equitation of the rider is so incredibly impressive! I got to watch this in person, and all I have to say is WOW! Superb!
I think this is one of the best examples of real horsemanship I have seen on Utube, very well done! I could see the influences of 4 disciplines melded into this tongue in cheek remarkable performance. Modern dressage is a sham compared to this.
Holy cow!!! Here inner thigh muscles have to be EXTREMELY strong to stay in this position for the 3 so minutes she is there!!! Truly amazing!! People that say horse back riding isn't a sport, you get on a horse and do what she just did, or for that fact, get on a horse and just try to stay on bareback and when you get off and your thighs and butt hurt and you find new muscles.. You will be changing your way of thinking! Great ride Ms. Shoeller!! Absolutely amazing!!
my new hero. oh my goodness. spirit soundtrack?! crossing disiplines?! and it's absolutly flawless! epic win. i LOVE it and they look like they're having sooo much fun!
Just AMAZING! Very Talented and good rider! To do them manuvers and that rate of speed in a racing saddle is something to be very proud of! Just Amazing!!!!
Wow Truly amazing and beautiful. It amazes me!! Reining is a lotta hard work and I think it's amazing that this man/lady is doin it in English attire!!! Amazinngggggg
Now that's a really good freestyle reining. It is truly a pleasure it is to be seen. It has to be hard but all the time in the racing seat ride. Especially in the turns and stops Greetings from Germany
This is the most amazing thing ever and I have been wanting to teach my ottb this and this work would do so much good for ottbs! There is just noone around me that trains it.
I enjoyed this SOOOO much! I especially looked for the person to be pulling on the rein so hard it causes the open, gaping mouth when it is brought to the sliding stop, and there was none! YEAH! AWESOME ride!!! No wonder it was the winner!
WOW! I love reining, but for me, it can get boring to watch at times...but that...was amazing. Pickup Chic has those sliding stops and roll backs down! Loved the flying lead changes at the end!
This was really fantastic. It is so cool that they pulled of such a beautiful reining routine in completely different equipment. As a predominantly english rider, there is one thing I don't really understand about reining. The sliding stops and spins are unbelievable, but why is a single lead change such a big deal?
@Vamp1116 reining is based on what an average cowboy and their horse out on the range had to do daily when dealing with cattle. Not all at once, but those movements, quick turns, and speed/collection are all necessary for an average cowboy.
@ Cadenced - don't be snarky! It's a freestyle, an interpretation. She doesn't have to actually be in a racing saddle, with racing length stirrups (how functional would that have been??) for us to understand it's a race horse! It was creative, fun, and engaged the crowd...the whole point of a freestyle! Hardly a beginner, well done!
I hope someone out there takes this away from watching this video. Horses do just as well with a light seat and hand, and they have an easier time doing their job. Their times improve, with less weight interference from the rider. Barrel riders, take note. Horse disunited a bit to the left, other than that, (which is pick-nitting) what a treat to watch!! Thank you!
This is awesome. I want to send my pony to her for training!!!! That or just give me one of their reiners... I love to watching reining. I can see why she won.. reining in anEnglish saddle with high stirrups??? AMAZING... brought tearsto my eyes.. did anyone else notice that some of the music from Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron was being played too???
I love this!! This must have taken a ton of training though, getting the horse used to a different saddle, and a different bit, (or at least I hope they didn't use a curb, with the way she held the reigns:) and two hands on the reigns, and the rider had to adjust to being in a two point and not sitting deep and secure in a western saddle. But it was simply amazing!
Anyone notice that the horse is dressed up like Secretariat, yet the race call being used for music is from the 1977 Kentucky Derby that Seattle Slew won?
@Gingersnap27239 im sorry to hear that. i know i missed jumping when i quit. But believe me western is fun too. I now ride trail and plan on entering that extreme cowboy race. looks so fun!
There is tail swishing as well but less pronounced b/c Klemke uses his spur sparingly & briefly so the swish is similar to that of a horse swatting a fly instead of the windmill spinning/twisting you see in the mare when the spur is applied far more strongly & for a longer period. Ahlerich's performance at Madison Square Garden was quieter possibly because Klemke wasn't under pressure in Olympic competition: ultimate communication between horse & rider is when NO ONE sees your cues to your horse
@amongotherthings17 I have watch that movie evry day sence it came out so would know what the songs are and not all of this music is in the movie end od of conversation
That is so neat, how he is even sitting like a jockey would... With the stirrups high up and on an English saddle. Yet he's still doing the reining. This made my day :P Awesome!! XD
dude- it's that song from spirit! :D :D :D lol i haven't seen that movie since i was little. it's a great song, though, hans zimmer is great. never seen this kind of reining- it's a mixture of racing and western. very nice, though, great vid! ;)
The pairing of race calls with the score from Spirit is absolutely genius, gives me chills every time I watch!
As an English and Western rider, I can't even describe how happy this video makes me to see such an amazing pair who can clearly work well Western yet also stun a crowd with an English saddle!
I love how they used music from the movie spirit
Sahib johar STOP
Karina Ramadhanty STOP
I love spirit
Fast FØØd greasy TacØ I lØve same
Alihusain Habshi pervert
keep in mind yall, this was all done in a two point postion. unbelieveable. it shows that this horse is gonna do his job no matter how the rider is sitting
This has got to be the most inventive reining ever!
Oh man, I really have to FIGHT tears every time I watch this video!!! Such amazing horsemanship! The horse is such a beautiful mover, I was definitely drooling over those lead changes and roll backs!! It's very clear as to how they won! Absolutely outstanding!!!

best one ever.. i've seen.. loved it
I was drooling over those sliding stops and spins. If my colt spins half as well as that, I'll be happy! Absolutely gorgeous.
I can watch this over and over... and it makes me choke up every time. It inspires me to be a better rider. Well done! Best freestyle I have seen in years!
that was absolutely amazing. probably the best freestyle i've ever seen. they both looked like they were having so much fun! the crowd was going nuts and the horse just fed off of it. loooove it!!!

that was amazing. I loved when the horse did like 3 flying changes in a row. wow
They even got the authentic silks best freestyle I've seen hands down
my new hero. oh my goodness. spirit soundtrack?! crossing disiplines?! and it's absolutly flawless! epic win. i LOVE it and they look like they're having sooo much fun!
Amazing to ride a reining pattern riding a flat saddle. This video ranks up their with Stacy Westfall's bareback & bridleless freestyle. Way to go!
This is FANTASTIC!!! Brought tears to my eyes !
Just AMAZING! Very Talented and good rider! To do them manuvers and that rate of speed in a racing saddle is something to be very proud of! Just Amazing!!!!
Beautiful performance! Made me cry!
Seriously one of the best freestyles. Amazing rider. What a great seat. Simply awesome
Wow
Truly amazing and beautiful. It amazes me!!
Reining is a lotta hard work and I think it's amazing that this man/lady is doin it in English attire!!! Amazinngggggg
That's awesome Bryan Adams music from "Spirit" and the Jockey outfit. :)
I have this silly grin I can't lose now. Thank you!! How cool to see "Secretariat" doing reining! What fun!
this was an AWESOME idea! i love this soooo much! :D
Now that's a really good freestyle reining.
It is truly a pleasure it is to be seen.
It has to be hard but all the time in the racing seat ride. Especially in the turns and stops
Greetings from Germany
WOW!! Beautiful, soft pretty mare!! No crank, ears up, she loves her job!! Beautiful!
This made me cry so much!!
Is that the Spirit soundtrack I hear?! So awesome. This was an amazing routine, and incredibly fun to watch. :D
This is the most amazing thing ever and I have been wanting to teach my ottb this and this work would do so much good for ottbs! There is just noone around me that trains it.
Holy Wow and a Half! Perfectly conceived and perfectly executed. Dressage meets cowpony meets race horse.
LOVE IT !
@havetogojump correction, this is a freestyle competition...and there was one at WEG as well.
Fantastic, creative and an awesome ride! FYI-Horse is dressed at Smarty Jones and working to parts of the actual 2004 Kentucky Derby race call.
I enjoyed this SOOOO much! I especially looked for the person to be pulling on the rein so hard it causes the open, gaping mouth when it is brought to the sliding stop, and there was none! YEAH! AWESOME ride!!! No wonder it was the winner!
spirit soundtrack! i
WOW!
I love reining, but for me, it can get boring to watch at times...but that...was amazing.

This is amazing. Period.
loved it, the typical you see is never this creative.
I love the music
@DavLarDesMar The racehorse that is being imitated is Smarty Jones.
This is sooo SWEET!
Oh and having the racecalls in the bg was a great TOUCH!
This was really fantastic. It is so cool that they pulled of such a beautiful reining routine in completely different equipment.
As a predominantly english rider, there is one thing I don't really understand about reining. The sliding stops and spins are unbelievable, but why is a single lead change such a big deal?
OMG!!!! This is freaking epic!!!!!!!!! Props to the rider! I could never hold two point like that through sliding stops and everything!!!!!
This is too cute! It's funny how I stumbled across this with today (may 5th) being the Kentucky derby. Lol! I love it!
sooo original!! i love it
Nice to see something a little different this time. Great skills!
This is a very creative Freestyle. Way to go!!
This is beyond epic!
beautiful quiet lead changes!
@Vamp1116 reining is based on what an average cowboy and their horse out on the range had to do daily when dealing with cattle. Not all at once, but those movements, quick turns, and speed/collection are all necessary for an average cowboy.
i was there it was awesome to watch in person
absolutely fun, inventive, amazing ride!
LOVE IT!!! At 3:40 the horse is like, holy crap! All these people are cheering for me!!!!! Glad to see variety in reining
Where did you get this soundtrack...? What is this music, I love it!!
@ Cadenced - don't be snarky! It's a freestyle, an interpretation. She doesn't have to actually be in a racing saddle, with racing length stirrups (how functional would that have been??) for us to understand it's a race horse!

I can't even hold my jump position for five minutes around the arena, this rider, woah. legs of steel right there!
@wolfdemondxx isnt ir from secretariet or some racing movie
I love this!! This must have taken a ton of training though, getting the horse used to a different saddle, and a different bit, (or at least I hope they didn't use a curb, with the way she held the reigns:) and two hands on the reigns, and the rider had to adjust to being in a two point and not sitting deep and secure in a western saddle. that was really cool i cant wait to start with my quarter horse!
There is tail swishing as well but less pronounced b/c Klemke uses his spur sparingly & briefly so the swish is similar to that of a horse swatting a fly instead of the windmill spinning/twisting you see in the mare when the spur is applied far more strongly & for a longer period. This is amazing, how in the WORLD do you do a slide stop like that??? This person is a BAMF.
what song or soundtrack is this????? i was thinking of doing a freestyle like this any other songs u think would work??????
THAT WAS THE BEST EVER!!!!
Love the way that ride went
speachless.. that was great.
Two steps from hell music is perfect too. This is just awesome!!!
Lexi Feldmann it’s not two steps from Hell. The piece is by Hans Zimmer, it’s from the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!!! love the tempi changes!! HOW FUN
@amongotherthings17 I have watch that movie evry day sence it came out so would know what the songs are and not all of this music is in the movie end od of conversation
@Gingersnap27239 no it is, its from i think when they're pulling the train... i think, but it most definately off spirit
That is so neat, how he is even sitting like a jockey would... With the stirrups high up and on an English saddle. Yet he's still doing the reining. This made my day :P Awesome!! XD
That horse looks so loyal
That.. just made my day.
