I had double jaw surgery at 15 and I was lucky, I didn’t bruise much at all but I was wired shut. Legit wired shut, not bands, lol. All I could have was liquids for 6 weeks. After that summer I never wanted to hear a blender ever again! I initially lost feeling in my lower jaw/face. Most of it came back, but I still have bits that are numb. And other spots that hurt more than normal. Oh and the only thing I was craving that whole time was: french fries! Once I got the wire cut off my friend bought me a large plate fries!

I had double jaw surgery 5 years ago. It wasn't all that bad actually. The worst part was drinking protein drinks through a syringe, overtime your stomach starts churning because it's used to solid foods, you do lose some weight as a result. Most people lose 10 pounds. About 75% of all swelling goes down in 2 months, it takes 6 months to a full year to see the full results because of residual swelling. My advice to anyone getting this surgery, make sure to brush your teeth if you can and know what to expect in the surgery because my surgeon never shared with me his planout (VSP) or the models.

@@ericleavitt9281 I don't recommend waiting that long. My jaw surgeon told me that most people get this type of jaw surgery in their late teens, and that risk of side effects increases as you get older, especially over 25. And so the longer you wait, the worse your recovery will be.

I'm in my 50s and had an open bite prior to having braces in the 80s, it looks like some things were undiagnosed at the time and my bite went back to an open bite after a few years. Your case is quite simple and straightforward though 7 years orthodontic visit is not easy. Mine is bad . Because the upper Jaw that is protruding . And retruded lower chin. Im gonna have to settle with Genioplasty to balance my face as Double Jaw surgery is not advisable for me . Ive seen 3 surgeon to get an advise .
