Okay, so it wasn't the best thing, but she did have a small point. I work at a nursing home, and frequently have to go take food to residents and workers (if I can't get them through paging them). *However,* and this is my major point, since most of the time the food is already paid for, they leave the food up front to be either taken back or to be picked up. In that setting, the food would have a room number on the receipt (I also worked drive through before working at the nursing home). If it only said to leave it up front, you *leave it up front.* There's really no if, and, or but with this. I have no earthly idea this women thought it was a good idea to drive away with the food. There would be detections to how to handle the delivery. The only reason *I* have to take food back is because of COVID and our company regulations. Hotels are completely different because you can go up to the doors.

@@mattjust4450 I don't have a huge issue with him but I think he (and most other TH-cam lawyers) tries too hard to use his status as a lawyer to bolster his credibility, when the majority of his videos are more mainstream topics that don't cover much legal nuance. He basically just blasts a lot of complex-sounding but very basic concepts to sound smart to a non-lawyer. This channel, on the other hand, thinks about issues in the way that a real lawyer would and explains legal concepts in a balanced and unassuming way.

Just found your channel and love it! I would love for you to do a similar video about Taylor Swift. There’s a whoooole bunch you could cover.
    1. The sexual assault/defamation trial where she countersued her accuser for $1
    2. The whole deal with owning her masters, that could be its own video probably
    3. Being sued over her most recent album titles, folklore and evermore. I think both settled out of court but I’d be interested to hear your take.
    4. Annnd you touched on this a bit here with the celebrities having fans who are willing to fight on their behalf.Taylor has been scrutinized a couple of times for this (in the record label deal and more recently in regards to a joke made in the Ginny and Georgia Netflix series). I’d love to hear your thoughts on the legal side of things and your thoughts on the morality/responsibility that celebrities have in these scenarios.

Sorry, I’m only at the first case and I believe you’re wrong about it for the following reasons:
    1. Minah is a singer. An unknown singer but a singer nonetheless. And if she tweeted original song lyrics in past, that would help her case further.
    2. If I recall correctly, Minah is a woc. That would’ve very tricky for Lizzo’s image - “stealing from a woc and not giving credit”.
    3. It is accepted that Minah is the originator of that particular phrase.
    4. Lizzo publicly admitted to being inspired by a meme and claimed she would give credit to whoever created that meme.
    5. All memes with that phrase are based on Minah’s tweet whether or not the meme creator is aware of this fact.
It makes perfect sense Lizzo cut her losses and gave writing credits, saving herself time, money and her reputation.
Ok back to watching the rest of the video…

    • @marleneg7794
      @marleneg7794 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marleneg7794
??? Erm what a weird low key racist thing to say. Why would the tweet be moot if Minah was not a woc? If she was a unknown white *singer*, she would still stand a very good chance in court, although going by today’s climate, she wouldn’t have enjoyed as much public support.
Stealing from another woc is not a good look, and Lizzo would not be able to stop the media and the public from dragging her. She made a good decision to settle.

Got recommended your uhnnn video and watched loads since. Cheers for keeping me entertained whilst I’m out of action with covid.
Only thing I wanted to say about this one specifically is normally I tend to think people who sue celebs are just out for the money (whether it has legal merit or not that’s their motivation. But the post mates woman seemed to have a genuine grievance. That tweet seemed kinda out of line

As a dancer! This first conflict is something that goes around a lot in the community. How ideas cannot be copywritten! SO MUCH "plagiarism" of dance moves or concepts happen cuz sometimes there's no way to say who originated it. MANY BIPOC peoples are originators of dances and their work is not recorded cuz, ya know colonialism and the importance of oral traditions in non white cultures.
But beside BIPOC erasure in dance.... There is an interesting thing going on (maybe Leeja, you'd be interested in talking about). There is that Beyonce choreographer who has stolen work from Fosse and Nicholas Brothers, but just this year wanted to start their own company to copywrite choreography!!! Finding out all the folks he "borrowed" from and is now try to say he did not could take a lot of searching, but Fosse and Nicholas Brothers are two HUGE ones that I'm surprised he had the gull to say he created those steps.....Like, "Honey those videos are from the 30s and you're in your 30s, something is not right there, dude!" Could be fun research or could be dull cuz it's so obvious lolz. Love your vids Leeja!
