    Getting my Eurasier puppy in the summer and I'm so so sooo excited! I've been on a waitlist in the US for many months now. This dog breed is truly the embodiment of everything I, personally, desire in a dog. I'm so happy I came across this breed!

    Honestly it is hard to find a dog breed I love. One that's not high energy, stubborn, strong prey drive or protective. But these dogs are it, the only downside is this breed isn't naturally cuddly

    I'm considering getting a dog when I move to a bigger place, and my sister recommended me a Eurasier. Never owner a dog myself, but quite experienced as I've always had them around me. Reading up on them I can see why my sister recommended a Eurasier, looks like they fit my lifestyle perfectly.

    I’ve had my dog since 2013 and had no idea he was a black Euraiser! I always thought he was a skipperke chow mix. So nice to know his actual breed. He really is one of the most affectionate dogs I’ve ever had, he’s my best friend. It’s funny how people say they don’t bark a lot though, my Gus definitely is the loudest most vocal dog I’ve ever had.

    The best dog I ever had was a Eurasier. She probably wasn’t pure, but she was very close. She was the best friend I have ever had. She passed several years ago, and I now have a Samy/Chow mix. She’s delightful and definitely her own personality, different from her predecessor!

    You have done a great job on this video! It is very accurate. You have summarized the breed very nicely with your 10 points. Many people mistakenly think they have a Eurasier because their dog may 'look' like a Eurasier. Some of the comments here and on other sites I've visited over more than 20 years of Eurasier ownership and breeding seem to indicate this. Many Chow crosses even have similar traits and characteristics. However, a Eurasier is a registered, purebred breed. That means it comes with official registration papers from a recognized organization such as VDH, EKW, KZG, ZG in Germany, and other national dog clubs in Europe, or the CKC in Canada & the US. If you don't have registration papers, you don't have a purebred Eurasier from a reputable breeder, period.

    I gotta say this is the most accurate explanation I have ever heard about my snuffles. I have quite an experience with the Eurasier by now. As with every other dog breed, of course they have completely unique personalities.
    One of the 4 girls we had so far was absolutely not in the mood when ever it was time to take a walk. But as soon as we said "Autofahren!" (car driving) she was the first at the door. On the other hand our Juna now... I'm sure she has ADHD or something, she has so unbelievably much energy. God I love these dogs to pieces. Our first two died at the same day. It was an experience I have absolutely no words for. They are ingrained in my soul.
    Thank you for such a wonderful video and if anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer :)

      Eurasier-owner here: The breed is prone to being stubborn and is highly intelligent, which you can use to your advantage by teaching your dog new tricks and just being consequent while training him. Seeing that, Id say yes to being a starter-dog, as my Eurasier is also my first dog ^^
      He can also live in an apartment, though a good number of green areas in walking distance is highly recommended and you should take care that your dog is never alone for much more than 6 hours. But he does make for an excellent office dog because he is quiet, calm and reserved towards strangers.

    Thank you so much for this vid & all the helpful info.
    I’ve been putting off getting a service dog for PTSD for a few years now (since my husband was killed), even though my therapist
    recommended I get one.
    Now with everything going on I’ve just gotten worse.
    I can barely leave my house alone anymore (thank goodness I’m able to work from home for now 🙏).
    I’ve always wanted a Malamute, but I heard they are NOT usually good service dogs. 😞
    Eurasier dogs seem like they could be a good fit for me, but I’ll talk to a service dog trainer to confirm. 🙏

      An Eurasier can be very good because they are highly sensitive and feel immediately that you are not feeling well and adapt to you. But the sensitivity can be bad too, if you are too depressed for example. The dog feels it and can start to missbehave or be depressed too because he is so empathetic with you. But it can help you too, to focus on getting well and Eurasiers are so lovely and kind and always want to be with you. I deal with my mental health too and I want an Eurasier too, because for me this breed is perfect.
      I wish you all the best and that you are or will get better and maybe with the help of an Eurasier. 😊

      My dog often gets confused for a Chow Chow (bc blue tongue), Spitz (bc similarity), Samoyed (though he is black) or Husky (for whatever reason)
      When he was a puppy, people would even think that he is a teddy bear until he would turn his head and give them puppy-eyes

  • @josefine7095
    @josefine7095 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay so the grooming part is a bit wrong. They shed all of their under coat like twice a year, and then you have to brush them up to 3 times a day when it is at it's worst. Like you can literally fill an entire trash can with fur during the shedding seasons. But apart from that they only need a couple of brushings a week. (also if you mix in a little bit of wool, you can make yarn from it and knit. I have a pair of mittens from one of our dogs and they are super warm)
    this is not a good starter dog as they can be difficult to train. They are very similar to owning a cat. It is not uncommon for these dogs to pretend not to hear your commands and go to do their own stuff, so you need to be stubborn.
    They are however, very good at adapting to the owner's lifestyle. If you enjoy running with your dog and do a bunch of activities throughout the day, this dog can do so as well(just makse sure to not force the dog to go from 0 to 100 in terms of lifestyle). If you are someone who don't have time for much other than 1 long walk a day, the dog won't mind( of course you need to take it outside for short walks so that it can do it's business several times). One of the dogs we had got trained as a tracking dog and did really well. I've also come across several of these doing good in agility. So I like calling this breed the bard of dogs haha.

    • @CimBasch
      @CimBasch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the seasonal shedding can be more work. Females 'blow their coat' a few weeks after their heat cycle; males typically once a year, and yes, sometimes there is enough to make a new dog :) But generally, the video comment is pretty good.

      To be clear that 'mix' was over 60 years ago and was part of a deliberate, carefully planned breeding program resulting in the beautiful purebred Eurasiers of today. One can't simply 'mix' these 3 breeds and call the puppies Eurasiers. In recent years, with the permission and authorization of, and supervision by the VDH, a select few 'dogs of foundation" (one of the 3 original breeds) have been mated to purebred Eurasiers to help improve the gene pool.
