      Haha! Thanks for that. I think a lot of creators covered it when it was new for a quick burst of views and then moved on to the new flavor-of-the-week. I like to dig in & explore new stuff and follow its lifespan when possible.

    Great firmware update! The only remaining improvement that I would like to see is expanded support for the Xbox controller. If the 2nd joystick paddle were enabled, games like Robotron would play perfectly. Side note for anyone that struggled, as I did, to correct the layout of vertical games, you need to download artwork that is .art format and not .lay. Many of the samples I found on the internet are .lay, which won’t work. Also, if you want the game to fill the screen and not be contained in a small window with the graphics around the game, I found that editing the file in Notepad and changing the Position values to -0.0,-0.35,1.0,1.35 worked great. I also had to create a new .png file for the bezel art which is just a black background and a new transparent layer that filled the entire game window. Once that is done, games like Pac-Man or 1942 will display full screen in the correct aspect ratio.

    Fantastic Video! Watching your video made the FW upgrade seamless and simple. Thank you so very much for all your detailed and awesome videos!! Being able to have sub folders just makes things so much easier. In order for my sd card to work I needed to create the folder "Games" without quotes and with a capital G (I got this info from a previous video, you mentioned it in your notes) and your trick to get to the sd card and its contents (simultaneously hold down the home and start buttons on the supplied controller) worked like a champ. The game-station pro truly is a great piece of hardware. Thanks again for all you do!

    On a related note for the SD card business, prior to the firmware change there have been some folks who managed to get Mega/Sega CD images working - though I personally haven't managed it but I thought that may be worth mentioning. Looking forward to expanding the current library ^_^ and might I suggest a follow-up to your previous vid about the SD card, in light of the update.
    Edit: As luck would have it, I have every single cable in the house *besides* the one I need to make the interface between the GSP and PC, what a tease lol. Looks like I'm going shopping for a proper cable later.
    Edit2: Firmware update done, extra set of roms uploaded and folders created. So much easier to navigate now MyArcade knows their stuff damn, still no save states for SD card games but I'll take the update and boot up my old Sonic games I grew up with.

What would make the GSP absolute perfection in my eyes would be the addition of Sega Master System and Sega Saturn support ... until I get that I'm still missing two of my much beloved Shining Force games. ;) My housemates think I've lost my mind, obsessing over a game console smaller than a guinea pig, and I've been trying to figure out where it's BEEN all my life! :D

    I love SNES games. I just won some from another TH-camr. I mostly come here for Atari content. I'm a big Atari fan as well as a Nintendo fan. I just played the homebrew Jutland Skies which is a free download.

    Brother, this video hit me at just the right time. I got one of these for my birthday yesterday and spent a little time today loading up some extra 2600 games on an SD card. I've been playing this with my kids all afternoon so that's been fun.
    I find the controllers a little finicky but maybe I'm too far away from the base?
    Do we know if this firmware update works on a Mac, or am I going to have to borrow my wife's laptop?
    Anyway, I'm sure I'm going to watch this video at least 2 more times as I try to actually run the process. Thanks for the update on the update

      That makes me smile. 😀 You will need a PC, but one little nugget in this update that I didn't mention but will be of interest to you: changes made in this firmware version set up for future updates being possible from the SD card with no computer necessary (other than to load the SD card, of course).

      There is a __MACOSX subfolder in the ZIP file, but I can't verify if those related files inside would work on a Mac.

You already know we want you to do SD card video, but I’ll go ahead and ask anyway. Also please check out any changes to adding additional controller options. Thanks Jon

    I got this to work with my wireless keyboard. So far I’m only able to navigate the menus - Left, right, up, down, N (select) , ESC (back). No gameplay - I’ve tried 2600 games such as codebreaker, and a few of the 5200 games. The fact that the keyboard is recognised at all is a good sign though and an opportunity for future releases….

    Thanks, Jon! Firmware update went exactly as you described! Love the improvements! Since you seem to have the eyes/ears of MyArcade, wondering if you could suggest the ability to UNmap the C-button to bring up the Menu save/load screen? With games you load on an SD card (specifically Genesis, but also some arcade games) they want to use the C-button for other commands, and since you can't load/save anything during the SD playback, it would be great to UNmap the C-button and let it just be a C button. (Actually, for Genesis it would be the Y-button...) I've found that the Xbox controller maps perfectly! The White X button takes you out of games (Home) left middle button is select, right middle is start, A=A, B=B, X=C and Y is the Menu. If you could Y actually BE Y, then you could have perfect control of Genesis games! Can't wait to play some SNES now too! Thanks again for the work!!!

    • @GenXGrownUp
      @GenXGrownUp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad it went well. Button mapping has been on my wish-list for the GSP since launch, and who knows if it's ever gonna happen, but I'll continue to press for it! 😀

    • @JohnSciaccaWriter
      @JohnSciaccaWriter ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually meant UNMAP the MENU button, not C button. C button maps perfectly to Xbox X button. Would be nice if the Y button could be a Y button and NOT the Menu button (which it is currently). No use for the menu button when playing SD card games. But you probably knew that! :)

    Thank you for the detailed rundown of how to install the new firmware! Much appreciated. Only thing I don't see addressed is paddle support for games loaded from SD - would be great to be able to play Kaboom, etc! Secondary to that, a way to remap buttons on outside controllers would be a nice feature (though I know, asking a lot here - but I can dream!)

    • @domeshtan1677
      @domeshtan1677 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you rename your Kaboom! rom to Breakout.a26 you can use the paddle (for the first player anyway). I renamed the Avalanche demo to Warlords.a26 and the paddle worked as well. Maybe put it into a separate folder to keep the original?

    • @btr3k
      @btr3k ปีที่แล้ว

      @@domeshtan1677 Thank you for the tip about this! I imagine with folder support, this would be easy enough to work around, with a number of sub-folders that contain "breakout.a26" but are actually other games per the names of their respective folders.

    • @domeshtan1677
      @domeshtan1677 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@btr3k I found out naming everything Warlords.a26 worked better overall. Kaboom! only played on the player 1 side naming it Breakout.a26. I named it Warlords.a26 and both players worked for controls. Only Backgammon is giving me issues for player 2 control.
