I just passed the statue last weekend. I was always fascinated by it when I was a kid. Still am!

Nice. I lived in Huntsville for five years. I was awakened every morning by the horn at the Walls unit. I only lived three blocks away.

I see the poster for the inmate Clyde Thompson (A.K.A The Meanest Man in Texas). A book and movie was made after him, The Meanest Man in Texas.

You should visit the Stephen F. Austin statue in Angleton. I believe was created by the same artist as this one.

I'm interested in architecture. Can anyone tell me what the two tower looking structures were used for in the steamboat house? Nice video.

Burger and onion rings looking good there 🍔.
Good Narration on the history. The prison should be full of politicians these days but they all have get out of Jail cards! 😆

Good ol' Sam. I admired his guts for refusing to vote for secession. You ever hear of the warden of Huntsville state prison called Bear tracks? Supposedly said to all new inmates, " I am the Bear and this is my track", as he dug his boot into the ground.

Wow Sam Houston did a lot at such a young age very interesting. Huntsville prison is a bit creepy tho…

The big statue not at the same location as the muesum. Several miles apart.
