- When Francis Kéré came to Germany from Burkina Faso at the age of 20, he really only wanted to learn as quickly as possible how to build houses and then return to Africa. He didn’t know what an architect was and that in Germany you have to go to university to become one. Today he designs buildings worldwide and was named architect of the year in 2021 in Germany.

He is absolutely right, appealing architecture to humans create a community. I see the same thing my my area, when our local park got more upkept and had a few communal spaces created. I also noticed his designs are very open so they expose you to the natural light.

Interesting enough this is another good PARAMETRIC architect. He works with Grasshopper quite well but his language is beyond geometrical constructions. His materials and techniques of tectonics gives this individual a particular African flavor that architecture in general needs.
His collection of strategies is vast and numerous. He gets the job done with simplicity but his architecture IS NOT SIMPLE. The level of detail is high.

hopefully these buildings in africa are not paid by german tax payers money cause that is the typical project that will abandoned - like GIZ drone delivery project with DHL in Tansania for medicals.
No tax payers funding and project is over - without any result.
since 6 decades the support of third world countries by german government did not really work out except that bureaucrats were employing themselves in budgets and projects of doubtfull reputation and outcome.
