- The Met Gala 2022's invitations suggested the stars embraced "white tie" and "gilded glamour" which lead to some incredible fashion moments. From Kim Kardashian slipping into Marilyn Monroe's most famous dress, Blake Lively being unwrapped to reveal her second dress on the Met steps, to several stars nodding to the past with sequins, tulle and corsets and dramatic headpieces, this year's red carpet was one to remember.

Ikr, she nailed it, the unfolding of the bustle took my breath away. I rewound the video to see that over again. And Ryan was perfect. I saw some of them last night and the costumes were a joke. Tbh, I wasn’t crazy about Anna’s dress.

I love that, in a way, Blake’s dress also is a nod to her “Gossip Girl” wedding gown, with the patchy metallic gold and full skirt! Overall look was fabulous. Best of the night. Nicole was also WOWWW!

Jessica Chastain was very on theme, near the Gilded era on America there was a rise on the interest for the paranormal, like, a lot, there were a lot of famous mages and psychics that came out of that time, so watching her wearing what she wore makes me happy, since she didn't threw some gold dres and came out, she did research on the Era this was supposed to be.

In a time perioda where everyone was obsceced with death and for a good reason it was common to try seek in the depths of the otherworldly, people tried to contact dead relatives a lot so mediums were very VERY popular, the dress is fantastic and the turbant ,although Idk how accurate it is, is a nice touch to make it obvious

Blake Lively with the perfect homage to the Statue of Liberty 🗽 with the 7 spikes on her headpiece and the patinated copper to the signature turquoise green, the Statue was built in 1876 (Gilded Age) and is a perfect symbol of American culture and the Gilded age. Actually pretty brilliant ngl

Kim’s dress was EXTREMELY iconic. It is the literal dress Marilyn Monroe wore while she sang Happy Birthday to JFK. There were guards there just protecting the dress. That said, she did not pull it off the way MM did at all. The hair, makeup, etc. did not support it. Even the skin tone was off. The dress was originally created to match MM’s pale tone/complexion exactly.

I’m surprised Kim made top 10, too. How does it even fit the theme? Or did she just want to show off the dress. It made me kind of sad when she said she had to lose 16 lbs in 3 days just to wear it. On MM it looked like she was wearing nothing but glitter. For Kim tho, it really did look like a nice dress. There’s probably a ton of iconic dresses ppl would want to have & wear. Since it’s THAT dress & from THAT infamous occasion tho, the dress might have actually lost some of its value now that MM is no longer the last one to wear it.

I am quoting two well known fashion magazines Vanity Fair and Vogue. "Gilded Glamour" and Blake gave us gilded glamour to the hilt.
Of course I love Ms. Lively’s dress, it was gorgeous but I am also loving Ms. Chastain’s dress it’s giving old Hollywood glamour

I'm glad you acknowledged and gave credit to Donatella :) I noticed often times people give credit to the wearer rather than Versace, when the house is orginally known for extravagant dressmaking. Donatella always makes a statement in the Met Gala, but not many seem to remember it's from Versace

Contemporary materials , but Gilded era s proportions ( the robe mantou has the Typical volume of crinoline) , the color , the structure. You can like It or not , but She was on point. Even for me the winner Is Lively. She was stunning.

Bazaar and vogue always show the same people, who are currently the most “popular”. Not that everyone on that carpet is not successful and popular. Just saying, that their selection usually doesn’t make total sense or is at least very incomplete.
Exactly my thought.....these people think they are superior so their celebrities are best dressed. Natasha wore a Sabyasachi sari in a unique and elegant way that deserves everyone's attention.

She explained how they took the idea of over-exaggerating female figures and shapes in the gilded age and made it into something modern. I actually really liked that take on the theme, combined with the corset it looked very futuristic with a nod to the past.
