For those in the Tarflower chapter, Ive consistently seen a good supply of incarnata and perrenis at Green Isle Gardens.

Great presentation! I really appreciate you putting this out and sharing your immense knowledge. I collected some native butterfly milkweed seed on a hike last year but had no luck getting it to germinate in the yard. I'll try again this year.

It is so hard finding native milkweed. I was sold two giant milkweed as an option. The nursery is listed I'm the FANN website and turns out is not a good milkweed option. So frustrating. Can't even find a native firebush in my area. Just drove 2 hours to another nursery only to find more tropical milkweed 😮‍💨

Thank you for this very informative video! I am in Broward county, south Florida, and could not find native milkweed for sale anywhere. I ordered seeds and successfully started: A. incarnata, A. tuberosa, and A. Verticillata. The swamp milkweed so far is the slowest. It is weird to to graduate then from liners to 4” pots, when they have that long taproot! I’m hoping to get some blooms this summer, and will definitely cut them all back around thanksgiving if they don’t naturally dieback.

You are so welcome! Great job in getting all of them to germinate and grow - not everyone has success early on. Are you linked up with the Broward Chapter? They have a member, Keith, who grows and gives away milkweed.

Please watch 8:59 - 12:30 if you are just skipping around in the video! Thank you for this post - p.s. Sandhill (humistrata) was found as far south as Collier County and is now believed to be extripated as it hasn't been found since the early 90s

Thanks! Just clipped the announcements off the front of the video so those timestamps might be a bit off. Good point about A. humistrata.
