Emmylou gives this song such swagger! Emmylou has achieved the "highest art form" you can find in music with this rendition...such immense groove and so smooth
Don't forget the lawn chair! This has got to be one of the most underrated artistic performances by a most consummate performer of any kind. Ridin' on air!
This has got to be one of the sexiest songs that was ever written (along with Jefferson Starship's "Miracles" and Chris Isasak's "Wicket Game"). And lyrics that conjur some of the most striking imagery ("just wear your shorts and your long hair, don't forget your lawn chair")...I almost feel sand between my toes every time I hear that.
I can't find it online anywhere! Fortunately I have an acoustical version of this song from a radio station here in Minneapolis/St Paul which annually has a CD entitled CITIES SAMPLER and the 1998/1999 version has Patty Griffin's ONE BIG LOVE: It is quite beautiful and one of my most treasured posessions.
This song, along with Peter Himmelman's "245 Days," and The Connels "74 75" are the top 3 underrated Songs of all-time....So sad that they don't get their proper credit...
I love Patty's version but I do love this one. I have covered Patty's version with a band I was in a couple of years ago and as a drummer I enjoy the feel and groove of Emmy Lou's a bit more.
This is a terrific song. Emmylou your version is way better. I’m just sorry you didn’t compose it. Southern Bell you are miss Harris! All women should age so beautifully as you have.
I love Emmylou Harris. She's one of the few artists whose cover version I think really add something to the songs. But this just isn't very good, even when you don't compare it to the original.
I hereby wholeheartedly apologize to Ms. Harris for that last comment...I'm actually happily married...and frankly my wife "wears the pants" in our relationship...uuhj...she's standing over me now as I write this...
+Cobain Dreamer This is the only song on a very fine record that Emmylou didn't write. "Red Dirt Girl" is fabulous as well as "Band of Joy" with Robert Plant.
This chick is hot! I'm just drooling to give her one big love of a recording contract. I just happen to have a studio in my own house...she can just walk those lovely long leathered legs right on over.
Only really really smart people know about this song...and appreciate the way Ms. Harris sings it...such effortless style, poise, aplomb...
This has got to be the most under-rated artistic performance of all time!

GAWD this is a GORGEOUS song no matter who sings it!

Man is she good!
Ms. Harris, despite the fact that your roots are anchored in variations of "Country", you are the quintessential "rock star" babe.
I love the way Emmylou makes "honna" rhyme with "wanna"---proving diction & enunciation alone can make one a singing star!
Emie LEE Harris and Daniel Lanois! TOO EXCELLENT---Wish I coulda been a fly on THAT wall.

Love Emmy's cover of this great Patty Griffin track. Thanks for posting this.
That is for DAMN sure. Patty has such an amazing voice and is also an amazing song writer, I can't believe she isn't more popular than she is.

Please don't try to listen to this song if your IQ is not above 150.
Sorry, no disrespect intended, but PLEASE let Patti sing Patti's songs! She's got the IT!

+Marc Romanow Are those Emmylou albums? I'm a Griffith girl all the way! ;-)

Is she drunk? This is terrible. mumble mumble mumble mumble.
So much for the bright energy of Patty Griffin's version.
