Not only will we be paying $30M when we don’t even have a QB signed for 2025, we would probably be giving up way too much draft capital for the privilege of overpaying him. Look at this year’s draft? How many of those guys would you have given up just to screw your cap. We would be set this year, but then what. I’m not sure this is the year you want to try and peak considering the OL is so young. Put one more solid draft together, sign your QB and then see what move you want to make, if any to polish off a SB winning team next year that will continue to be great for years to come instead of having to let key pieces go in the next 1-2 years because of the cap
The more it looks like Justin Fields is our QB for the future and maybe even this season, the less we're in a better-win-the-trophy-right-now, let's-mortgage-the-future posture that would make Aiyuk a necessity. Personally, I don’t like the idea of rebuilding this OL with quality vets in between each young guy and then trading away a guy like Daniels. Also keeping in mind that the two QBs tend to put the ball on the ground. I get it that Daniels will be a FA and unlikely to be resigned, however, his leadership and play is a good investment towards these young linemen.
The Steelers are fine without BA. There are several things that concern me with any trade for him. 1. His the type of player that's going to want to be wr1. That may cause friction with GP. This could potentially cause chemistry issues on the team. 2. Financial he's going to require a lot of money and soon GP is going to take a lot of money. There will be too much money at that position. 3. Van has been a good number 2 in this league and is on with being that. So let's focus on building GP to bring that wr1 that we want and we have another pass threat at TE so let's use that. Plus we're going to be a running team anyway it's not going to be enough balls to go around.

Also it’s in their best interest to just wait as the preseason and regular season are about to start, and once some teams WR goes down it’s amazing how their urgency can shift to save their season 😂

The problem is, the 49ers want a receiver as part of the trade compensation. And that receiver they want is George Pickens. The Steeler are not remotely interested in that trade option at all.
Besides, we need depth at the WR position because of injuries. So I don’t want to give up any receivers in this trade. Give’em picks.

Aiyuk decleats defensive players blocking for Christian McCaffrey, remember last year against the Steelers? Something Pickens is unwilling to do. In many ways, Aiyuk is special. He's an underrated wide receiver. I love Aiyuk. This entire situation makes me sad. I hope Aiyuk stays a 49er.
I love the guy. But I'm looking at it as a Steeler fan. A 1st is just way to much. But I can see where you guys feel that it isn't enough. And because of that I don't see him being traded unless it's to the browns or someone else. The browns if they give up cooper and a 2nd or a 3rd end pick. And his contract is really team friendly for the next few years.

First of all you're making it seem alot worse than it really is. He played his entire rookie contract for the Rams from 2020 until 2023, went to the Falcons for 2023, then here. His offense was trash in 2020, got Stafford in 2021 and did excellent as a #2, got hurt then put on IR in 2022. Then got traded to ATL in the middle 2023 barely healthy and got another bum for a QB... now he's here. I want Aiyuk too but let's not act like ppl can't improve. Dude is only 28 and still has his speed. He could still be very useful for our team.

John Lynch has no leverage in this matter, he has a player who won't sign with any other team besides Pittsburgh, if he tries to keep this player, he will.be disruptive and a distraction for the team. He can't use any other team as a trade bait because Auik said he only wants the Steelers. So the 49ers are basically cooked. They're holding up the trade as a bit id a spoiled brat mentality to show whatever power they have left in the situation.
