Have it and love it. Try using it for posts for raised garden beds. Since we bought it this spring we've put in a thousand feet of fencing, two hundred feet of raised beds, the posts for post and beam greenhouse, then planted ten fruit trees. Coincidentally the battery is a battery back up for a lawnmower, and the lawn mower battery is the battery backup for the auger. We've only needed the battery backup for the lawn mower andd that's because we have two acres of lush mowing area.

From unboxing the 8 nuts and bolts(tools included)to assembling and walking to the site…then making 5 holes for 4 fruit trees(changed my mind about 1 spot)…planted the trees and began re-charging the battery all within 1 hour.
An evolution from the eternal post hole digger.
    Pure utility.

Great video! I was amazed when I first seen it. I bought one a few weeks back and will be testing it in the spring. I am fencing 5 acres. I am also getting a second battery, I am sure it will go through them. I seen another video and they were getting about 10 holes a charge. I am looking for an extender shaft also so I can make my holes deeper, I live in Michigan and need to get below the frost line. Thanks for the video!

I was just about to buy a gas auger, instead I bought the Ryobi. Dug two holes last night as a test in Georgia red clay. Worked pretty good. Seems perfect for what I need. I already have several 40v tools.

The Anti Kickback is the best because that would save me from a couple of black and blues. This tool is something right up my alley. Have a few projects for the spring and this would be perfect. Hate to depend on people to help me. Not that is not welcomed but rather figure out how to do it myself, so I have a whole bunch of tools. I work at my own pace and I can look at the finished project and say, I did that. So going back to the tool, definitely getting it. Thank you. LOL

On the Home Depot site several people mentioned that they still need post hole diggers to lift out the dirt that the auger digs. I think I'm going to get one ($309 is the current price), because I think I can get that much use out of it over the 5-year warranty period.

    Hi TRZ,
OMG, This is an awesome cordless auger tool by ryobi. This will differently be great for a lot of landscape companies, farmers, home owners, ice fishing (alaska) even Handyman service for pole installing. Don't need to be breathing the exhaust anymore.
Differently need more ground testing but man still freaking awesome.
    Thanks for this video. ..

Lol. I’m sorry but this struck me funny only because the local HD TTI guy (aka the Milwaukee rep) only talks about ice fishing or his past surgeries when he is asked a question about tools. Now he can brag that they use this auger to cut holes in ice instead of using a 6inch hole saw attached to the m18 hammer drill up on some obscure lake. I’d give you exacts on tool but in his own words, ‘he don’t know model numbers’. I do wonder what Ryobi is thinking. Unless one is a rancher, farmer, post hole digger, or even an ice fisherman 😂, I see this as more of a rental tool for the average DIYer. Appreciate your time in giving us a look at this. Stay safe

  • @olumsezbey

I am putting in six posts to fence in my backyard. As much as I love Ryobi and want one, is it worth the cost vs renting? Long term... I’ll have to say no. I am still excited and will ‘wish’ I had one.

0:59 ...I agree...The mini 40 V charger doesn't get my thumbs up, but it does come with any 40v battery tool.......
but to buy the Rapid charger, you have to drop $170 cad....
or you can pay $148cad for the dual charger / 1x 18V one + 40V battery charger platform...
yah....that is pretty kewlll....that ryobi is putting out this new tool ..Auger.
This hasn't reached out HomeDepot store yet..but I sure will keep my eyes on it ...
6:36....I can see myself using this for :
Icefishing holes...(if it works, depending on the transportation and weight)
My friends can use it for pilot holes in postholing for deck renovations, and
    Fence post holes and
also for livestock , post hole fencing.
My buddy was excited when he saw this video, he was all about bury his large PVC tube Prepper cache supplies ....LOL
I want to try it for planting young fruit trees this year...we'll see how it does.
I know for sure it will be better than using a 7 ft metal digging bar and a clamshell posthole digger.
Thanks for the update info on Ryobi's new tool line ups. cheers...stay toasty.

Too bad you didn't drill with a gas powered auger a few feet away in order to compare.

I think you quit too soon...It was bringing up spoils, but at a slow rate. That is what I would expect in rock hard ground. BTW, I use a post hole digger, and I have a log wedge welded to the end of a heavy piece of pipe to break up obstructions in the hole along with a recip saw for roots.
