The Magellan fund manager was right, the investment environment was very tough five to 10 years from May 2005.

the issue is with retail investors attempting to time the market as opposed to taking the time to identify good businesses based on fundamentals and riding them out long term, which is how wealth is built. when people are fearful, be greedy. find those businesses and invest. everyone would rather be optimistic and that's just not realistic, both in the market and in life. basic principle. it's like having core values you learned from your parents / grandparents, sticking with those, and growing consistently overtime while others around you with little to no core values fall off, end up in terrible partnerships, and suffer avoidable consequences of not so well thought out decisions because they had no direction.

Did the former manager of Fidelity Magellan who gave this question happen to be Peter Lynch?

It’s unlikely as Peter has spoken to and met with Warren before.

It’s probably him. Yes, they know each other, but that doesn’t negate it

"Uncertain times"? When are times EVER certain? Nobody knows the future. Bad title.

There are never certain times. But there are uncertain times. Just meaning more uncertain than usual. I have nothing against the title, think it works fine.

@@davidjames1684 So? Just because there are "uncertain times" does it not mean that there are certain times as well. Uncertain times are times when its harder to predict where the economy is heading.
