I love how you easily explain complicated subjects in detail!! Getting every note t be expressive and even seems to be one of the hardest things to accomplish as a pianist!!! I'LL just keep putting in those 10,000 hrs!!! Thank you!!!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Dear Roger. Thank you so much for your words. That really means so much. I'm happy this video could help. Yes, it's difficult to work with slow and focussed concentration, giving each note authentic energy, but it becomes a beautiful and so rewarding practice...and it actually gets to a point that you need much less than 10,000 hours. I also have discovered a 'short cut' - a simple tweak of how to position the hand for greater accuracy and fluency. Stay tuned for that video. That will be posted on thegrandmanner.com. Sending all best!

I spent 30 years researching what produced the Golden Tone of the past. Pianists from over a hundred years ago were obsessed with it and it does more than just make a beautiful sound..It actually CREATES technique. What do you think of Paderewski's bridge technique mentioned in the video?

Thanks for writing Kira. Yes, there is more in depth training about the bridge and other aspects of piano playing on my website thegrandmanner.com- There you will find a free 60 minute tutorial. It is true what you say about Horowitz. He did things so unconventionally and made magic but it was his own particular adaptation. There were drawbacks though in his flat fingered approach and lack of bridge, which was that he needed a very light action piano in order to make it work. That is why he had to travel with his own instrument, specially customized. Also, although it looked like he had flat fingers, he actually did pinch them in ever so slightly, which created much colors. He made it work because he had great ears and astonishing creativity, but again, it was a way that worked for him alone. A good all-around pianist for learning great form I truly believe is Artur Rubinstein. His approach can work for all.
