Several years ago I boarded the trolley with my sleeping three year old boy in my arms. It was packed. But what I'll never forget was that the only person to offer me a seat was the young woman who stood up and allowed me to sit at the front. All I could think of was this lovely act of hers and of Ms. Rosa Parks.

Left out the part where they sued to protesters for not riding lol. Because they were losing so much money.

Sydney Thank you for that detailed info. I don't think a lot of people knew or know about that. Even when we are on the right side we ge sued... Smh

Claudette Colvin was the first one who refused to give up her seat. It's not right that Rosa Parks is the only one getting all the credit.

Thank you for reminding us that most of the people who took the first steps in fighting for racial equality have been forgotten. Please keep reminding us of those who sacrificed but who's names are not recalled. Thank you Claudette Colvin.

Claudette Colvin would have gotten the credit if she wasn't a pregnant teenager impregnated by a married man. Rosa Parks was more presentable to the public.

ROSA PARKS WASNT THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO REFUSE TO GIVE UP HER SEAT AND GET ARRESTED. SHE DID WHAT OTHERS DID AND YET WE REMEMBER HER BUT NOT THE OTHER WOMEN WHO STOOD THEIR GROUND. WHY IS SHE ANY BETTER THAN THOSE OTHER WOMEN?!

It didn't just stop there. Wek Walensa (sic) was inspired by Parks with his Solidarity movement in Poland which thwarted the communist control in Poland and later led to German reunification and a greater collapse of the Soviet Union.
