Some mistakes in life just shouldn't be made, like listening to Pinkerton before the Blue album. Ha. Great reaction, a consistent album indeed - every track is solid. Goin' surfing', goin' surfing...

I think you should REALLY react to "Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?" by of Montreal, I personally think that you will like it it's a really crazy album and one of the best indie pop albums
WE WON recs: Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles (Sick sounding early 90s math/indie rock, awesome guitar tone) Cap'n Jazz - Shmap'n Shmazz (The goats of midwest emo... the originators... I don't gotta say anything else. The album is the first 12 tracks of the compilation that's on Spotify btw, but you should also check out the Take On Me cover that's directly after the album in the tracklist, it's awesome) Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton (GORGEOUS unique sounding early 90s shoegaze, sounds like mbv, pavement, guided by voices with twee pop mixed in, so awesome, better than Loveless imo) Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (Unique folk-punk, early 80s college/alt rock, very catchy) Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque (Really catchy power pop, slightly shoegazey, same label as The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine) Quasi - Featuring "Birds" (Awesome Built to Spill-esque/Pacific Northwest indie rock, same label as Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Duster etc) The Breeders - Pod (Unique early 90s alt rock, Steve Albini prod, was in Kurt Cobain's top 3 albums of all time) Slint - Tweez (Sick late 80s post-hardcore/math rock, also Steve Albini prod) Pinback - Pinback (Very chill and creative late 90s indie rock) Modest Mouse - This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Amazing album, basically as good as The Lonesome Crowded West) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (badass big-beat dance music) Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand (lovely 90's lo-fi) Hella - Hold Your Horse Is (Math Rock with the drummer from Death Grips, before he was in Death Grips) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (Absolutely perfect 90's indie rock album)

The thing about the blue album is that it embodies the spirit of a debut album and is just a fun listen. Court of the Crimson King is absolutely godlike though.

Only in Dreams is fantastic and a true showing of their instrumental mastership. It's one of the few songs that give me goosebumps every single time, the crescendo at the end is so good it makes me just close my eyes and listen. It's powerful.
Man, this album is so iconic... glad you liked this one. My favorite Weezer album is probably 2014's Everything Will Be Alright In The End if you're looking for more to check out
You should react to Fantastic Planet by Failure or You'd Prefer An Astronaut by Hum. They are both underrated obscure alt rock masterpieces from the 90s
@@punker-gamer-trucker-guy you should listen to head trip in every key they knew the record label was gonna drop them so they just spent all of the money they gave them to make a more radio friendly album and just didnt do that but put a bunch of instruments in a few songs
Dunno if remember me. But again, u react to this and especially the broken social scene one wich is mindblowing and i always wanted somebody to do a full reaction to it. Im 30 and listened to that album since i was 18. But yo @Smags u are the goat music reactor for a reason. I dont do these recommendations a lot, only commented 3 times on ur channel. But i really think u should listen to Panda Bears "Person Pitch". To give some slight context. This is a classic album of the 2000s, easily imo stand together with daft punk discovery as the most important and influential sample based albums of the last 20 years. Add avalanches to that list too wich u have listened to. And Person pitch is of the same quality. The artist is part of the well known collective, surely u have heard of em, animal collective. And in this influential group, some members made solo project. Person Pitch is in contention to be the best work out off all of their creations. Really crucial album in the indie 'zeitgeist'.
Recomendation alert from me - it's a bit of a special one, since I don't think any reactors I can think of have covered it: The Holy Bible by the Manic Street Preachers. They're a rock band from the UK, and while they're really popular over here for their later stuff they're pretty unknown in the US. The Holy Bible is their third record, released in 1994 (same year as Weezer!) and it's gone down in history as one of the darkest albums ever made. Their guitarist, Richie Edwards, wrote the lyrics for it, and he was going through some MAJOR shit at the time. The music is insanely catchy and anthemic, and because of the way it's sung you won't pick up on what the singer's saying at first, but if you listen while reading the lyrics it gets majorly bleak. In the era of Oasis and Blur, it was VERY different. A few months after the album came out, Richie Edwards vanished, never to be seen ever again. People often compare it to Pinkerton - a big rock band's darkest and most musically visceral album, not anything like what they did before or since. It's one of the best things ever IMO.
One of my favourite records of all time! Through and through, and perfect 10/10. Saw Weezer live a month ago where they played this whole album front to back. Was euphoric! Subbed!
My wife was always way more into Weezer and he nerd/geek rock genre than I was in the day. They had some rockers though. The Blue Album and the follow up Green Album were their best. Just saw them a couple of nights ago in their current tour performing the Blue Album in its entirety. We and our daughter had a fun night.
Love the channel for both your enthusiasm and insightfulness. One big difference between us is that I love dark lyrics. They really do something for me. I think you tend to misunderstand how artists employ perverse and fucked up lyrics. On No One Else, he's not literally saying that he thinks it's okay to be emotionally controlling and co-dependent. He's saying that he's so insecure that he can't handle a normal relationship. He's saying, hey everybody look how fucked up I am. He's inviting us to explore that part of ourselves. You got really hung up on the "lover's piss" metaphor that comes up a couple times in You Forgot in People. Try to think about what he's saying there. It's a powerful image. What does it mean to drink lover's piss? I think he's talking about that feeling of being damaged that you'd rather put up with pain and humiliation than try to sleep in a bed alone. Maybe it's even deeper than that. It's such a wild and passionate thing to say. I wouldn't so quickly dismiss is as gooner shit. Just something to think about. I think your problem may be that you're too emotionally healthy 😆 I'd love to hear you react to something like People Who Can Eat People are the Luckiest People in The World by AJJ or Alopecia by Why?
