Pour on some cool tap water and watch the ice melt away off the windshield. Fastest and safest way to not break windshield. I did NOT say pour hot water. Just regular cool tap water will do and it will NOT crack your windshield. Done it this way for years.
I gave that same advice to my ex via text years back. I repeatedly told her to only use cold water, never hot. She told me I was crazy because she knew that hot water would melt the ice much faster. I can only assume she got the hottest water she could and just poured it over the windshield. A few minutes later I got a frantic text about a ruined windshield, telling me I need to help her fix it because she has to go to work. So I gave her the number for safelite. Oh she was mad.
That is the most stupid way of removing the ice from the car (Especially using that stick). It will end up removing color from the body of the car. Usually, in humid places where the ice sticks to the body or the glass, you can not remove the ice like that.
And thats how cars are born.
