Man Yvan really out here psychoanalyzing all of everyone today huh. (I just gotta say Siren is doing a fantastic job with the tonal shifts between situations. He's so gentle with us and so serious with the King. And speaking of emotions, you did a fantastic job with the anger and vitriol when he was angry and then the realization and panic after -that- line.)
Back to my original point though, Yvan is right. "They're not yours, you won't let them be." And I think Advisor is really starting to realize this. The difference between the two is so stark in this episode. Alistair is violent, threatening and taking all of his negative emotions out on the Advisor. He's insulting their intelligence, their kindness, while also calling us love and asking if they were hurt. And then promising to be kind and good before being taken away? It's blatantly manipulative and is almost textbook of the restart of an abusive cycle. He did come all the way here though to try and rescue them, but again, it's behavior exhibited in the cycle of abuse. I thiiink it's called the honeymoon stage? (EDIT: chapter 4 when Advisor was in the kinda coma, he actually promised to be kind. But, promises lose meaning when you constantly break them, especially when it's the same promise. There's no meaning to them, it's just words to get Advisor to come back to him.)
On the other hand, Yvan is staying relatively calm, respectful, and aware of how Advisor is feeling. Both apologizing after the petty insult and reassuring the Advisor that Alistair won't be harmed. He even warned Alistair to stop before he said anything he truly regretted, though Alistair Did Not listen. Plus, he is aware that Alistair is still needed for his kingdom..aaand also actually wanted their input.
(The whole "kiss him? I mean,," scene was hilarious it took me so off guard lol)
I'm still a little eh on the whole Yvan knowing very well that they love Alistair but at the same time keeping them. But then again Advisor did choose to sign that contract. I'm kinda getting the feeling that Advisor was sticking with Alistair more for nostalgia's sake. In love with a memory of a hopeful future. And now that they have an out, they're just desperate enough to take it. Especially when it's seems like that out comes with literally everything they wanted in their life.
"Do you really think what he's doing to you now is how love should feel?" Wow talk about getting this thrown in our face again. Uh. I'll words later for this because the ✨parallels✨

Me: Don't you dare talk of love as if you've ever shown it to me. Correct I don't know what it's like to feel loved but if it's the feeling of when he looks at me and it fills my heart with joy it just may burst than it just may be love. In truth...know one could hurt me the way you have these past years and I don't wish that pain upon another living soul.😭😅

Ok so maybe if Alistair learns to get over the past and become a better person I think that would be fine, character development is needed, I do feel kinda bad for him tbh, I mean why can't we be with both of them? Never harmed anyone 🧍♂️

Alister oh dear Alister, how I want to hug him and listen, this isn't right, she and he would be together! But the other prince, well, I have no words! Am I right people?

Yvan makes many good points, but clearly Alistair does too.
There is really no telling where Yvan's behavior might go from here. While I do believe that Yvan's current behavior towards the Advisor is more healthy than Alistair's, it really does feel more like a honeymoon phase more than anything. Besides, no matter how loving Yvan continues to be towards the Advisor, its clear that love will not be mutual any time soon (even Yvan acknowledges the fact that they've never stopped loving Alistair during that time away).
Yvan makes great points too. While I still dont believe Alisair was ever physically abusive towards the Advisor (unless that happened off-screen), he clearly was verbally and emotionally abusive. Yvan's words have also made it more clear that Alistair also has a tendency to put words in their mouth.
At this point, I think the Advisor just needs a reign check on love for the time being. Both of these royals need to back off on the romantic front and act like friends more than anything. If the Advisor tries to get into a relationship with Yvan, that can lead to different kinds of unhealthy dynamics (he did kidnap them after all). If they try to get back with Alistair, they'll be back to square 1 in regards to putting themselves down, not being as great at setting healthy boundaries, or advocating for themselves.
Anyway, this part of the series was great as always, AJ, Siren, & Esme! I'm stoked to find out what happened after this!
Wow, what a story so far. I got my jaw all down to the floor at this point.
And not a surpris but im team Yvan in this story.
Because i think this chapter got to a point where listener saw the full picture of a man the king has become, and to a point where his words are unsafeble.
I think the kings words have cutting to deep this time and maybe listener is going through an metamorphosis and breaking away from their chains to alister. But we will have to see🤭
