I took mine, a 2012 WK2 3.6 Pentastar to 210 Km/h (130 Mph) no problem, and felt that there was still a little bit to go. And mine is a 6 speed. And felt like was doing 120 km/h, solid as a rock!!!!

The transmission is an incredibly complex part of any vehicle and it really is the weak point of most modern vehicles. That having been said, the ZF 8-speed is pretty consistently touted to be one of the best on the market, as it consistently makes the top 5 list of any reputable reviewer and owner. I'm sorry to hear yours failed, but there are a half dozen reasons that could be at 85,000 miles. Generally poor maintenance, letting it overheat, or never getting your fluid changed are probably the top of that list.

Davey, this is not a direct injection engine - no chance to get troubles with carbon build-up like the direct injection TSI, GDI, TCe or similar European engines. Also - no DPF, high-pressure injectors or diesel fuel-pump. And unlike the 3.0 MultiJet (Ecodiesel), no fatal issues. Pretty solid power plant.

Very true, but I think the V6 is really well matched for the Grand Cherokee. It's no speed demon, but it also never feels underpowered. Good passing power and still gets decent fuel economy for such a heavy, solidly built, boxy SUV.

No. The V6 is a very competent engine and really quite perfectly matched for the Grand Cherokee, but it isn't a speed racer by any means. It'll get you up to speed, has good enough passing power, and gets decent enough fuel economy in a fairly large, heavy, and boxy SUV. Plus Jeep's 4WD system is usually too smart to let it happen.
On my overland it lowers suspension and tightens steering too.. I have the v6 with an ingen CAI, pedal commander, and dual Flomaster mufflers with resonator delete! Great vehicles!!
Most normal US version vehicle are limited at 180-215 kmh due rules. Even german cars in usa are limited at 210 kmh. I had Chrysler 300 3.6 without limiter and hit 248 kmh gps
this jeep is US model and has US limiter, most cars in USA has limiter even german cars in USA. 160 kmh limiter at pickup, 180 at many SUV, 190-210 some SUV, cars etc has limiter. sportscars like dodge challenger SRT has no limiter, thats why. without limiter this jeep could hit 220-230 kmh.

Dongfeng invested money into the Parent company of Jeep. You're jumping to conclusions to assume any car is made in China just because a company there bought a percentage of stocks from the other carmaker. All Grand Cherokees are made in Michigan, except for some of the foreign markets. which get them in limited numbers from South America or from Egypt if I remember correctly. Furthermore, the Grand Cherokee uses components mostly engineered by German and American companies with a small percentage even coming from Japan (airbags, alternator, etc) and while we're on the subject the car was actually designed AND engineered by Chrysler *in conjunction* with the Mercedes ML-Class of 2012, and shares a lot of basic engineering and components in some places because the two companies were still working together during that time. Anyway, almost all car makers buy parts from major international suppliers so it's hard to say ANY car is truly American, German, Japanese etc. So, all that being said, even Chinese cars are starting to pass global crash tests regularly and many of their export cars are also using higher-quality components from the well known and reputable major suppliers too - so its probably only a matter of time before Chinese cars start to lose their reputation for terrible quality; the same way the Korean carmakers did over the last 30 years, and the Japanese did before that 🤷♂️

Im from mexico, i have the same version of the grand cherokee v6, my top speed was 210 km/h, so so 130 mph. Its great Suv.

Yes mostly part was around 95-105 mph, after passing blue car we did hit at 120 mph and limiter kicked in
Looks like about 118 to 120 MPH max. Pretty fast, probably speed limited for the tires but that's still plenty fast.

The WK2 with the 3.6L ZF 8 speed 2014+ is one of “the best daily driving cars ever”, as proven here. Just an OG, solid tank, great mileage, etc.

I had a 2010 Overlander with the Hemi and comfortable highway cruising speed was 75mph. 80 mph felt like it was pushing it a bit lol

Higher revs and 140+ KPH, you won't get better than 7-7.5 KM/L. With normal 120-140 KPH highway driving will get you 8 KM/L

Maybe yours is a EU spec? The one we tested is a 2014 and US spec. It was limited to 193 kph (120 mph)

I have a base 14 Laredo. Still love it. Another question.. There is no manual button or lever to engage 4wd, how does it work?

You use the steering wheel paddles to manage the transmission shifts.
