- How to get rid of the awful thrift smell of your new bought gems
I tell you an easy and very cheap hack to get rid of that stinky smell.

Cheap bar of soap is all you need. Not a cream bar, just a cheap bar that makes your skin super dry. It takes away the oils in the clothes that makes the clothes stink like dead old lady.
Honestly some new clothes I’m buying smell so bad. Sort of cheesy smell even with pure cotton.. I hate it.
Thank you

You are supposed cleanse it with Ammonia, sea salt and laundry detergent or dish soap
I usually soak overnight in a vinegar solution then wash normally. I have a couple of small troublesome items at the moment, they had a siak and a wash and still smell bad, in this caseit stale perfume smell which is trickier than musty small.
These items came from e bay and I suspect the senders sprayed them with glade or febreze etc instead of washing. Any way the ar currently in a plastic zip lock bag, I added 3 table spoons of sodium bicarb (baking soda) closed the bag and gave it a goid shake, in the morning it's back into a vinegar soak, empty the bicarb in there too, then another wash. If that doesn't work, I'm done.
How did it go?
Thank you😁🫡
Hmmmm.. Even soaking a clothing item in straight vinegar for a few days doesn't work for me.
Same,very annoying
I didn't check this time and it was in the armpit area :( I washed it 3x, no luck. Then I spray the area with rubbing alcohol and I couldn't believe it but it's gone now. Give it a try.
Same here. Even have aired items for weeks, then soaked in vinegar for days, up to a week or more and then tossed it in the laundry -- multiple times. And if it still stinks, more soaking but now vinegar and baking soda for days and again washing in the laundry multiple times. Sometimes it's not meant to be and the garment gets donated because the smell is permanent. I absolutely loathe that thrift store odor and can detect it from a mile away.
What is that smell made of ? thx
Bedankt Esther!
What if it’s a dry clean only?
Air it out then take to the cleaners
Madam we have a large container overrun garments with humidity smells but all the clothes are dry. Because they didn't pack it well and brought here with a ship there's a mild smell on them. They are all brand new clothes and 120.000 of them I don't know how to get rid of the smell from them
Hi Esther. Would you happen to know how to get a smell out of a Mohair sweater? It’s mildew smell mixed with the scented carpet powder I put on it in a panic:(
Thanks mam
Thanks! This helped me so much 🫶
