What a great lecture. Short, but full of well presented, objective information. I appreciate the history lesson. Thank you.

More to come? As a student of the late Sir Roger Scruton, I am curious how this unfolds.

Philosophical influence? Practical influence in the ruling class I can see happening. A uniform schooling. The architects and trades might have schools, but was that so? Did they have, instead, guilds. Guilds that guarded their knowledge like priests. How did the guilds and schools influence each other? Were they both funded by the ruling class or were they both self-funded?
What if nuclear physicists, computer coders, solar panelists all had guilds? Would there be much philosophizing? Or would everyone be forced into a specialized field to earn their keep? How many nuclear physicists would there be then? Philosophers?

There is an opposite claim that value IS the precondition for perception, from what i know, it's related to evolutionary theory, and the first lifeforms as is. Imagine yourself this first random self replicating thing at the bottom of the ocean. You only will start developing perception and information processing mechanisms along with it only because you already need to self replicate, which is already the value, so value was the precondition for perception at that stage. What do you think?

At this point middle platonism was also an important intellectual trend (including in the Jewish context with Philo)

I thought Neo platonism had more of an influence than what was described here.. I thought much of early church doctrine was based on Plotinus. Am I wrong?

Jesus was in fact an Aramaic speaking jew and so were his followers. the gospels were in fact written 40-70 years after Jesus died and they were written in greek. they were not translated from Aramaic. they were written in greek by native greek speakers. the apostle Paul wrote his letters in greek for a greek speaking audience. he was writing to convert non jewish gentiles. he is in fact known as the apostle to the gentiles. st Augustine developed his theology based on the greek philosophy of Neo-platonism. these are all indisputable facts.
