Interesting to see how the turnout for a brush fire looks English fire services vs. what we have here in California. We’d call the 4x4’s “Type 6” units over here - generally a medium duty truck like an F450. Ours tend to have an extended cab to allow for 3-4 crew members, though, to fully staff the truck. I was surprised to see standard fire trucks responding, though! We call those Class 1’s, and generally avoid taking them off road since they don’t have a high ground clearance, but even our “Urban” engines have more ground clearance than the ones shown here. Honestly wish we had more reasonably sized apparatus here in the States, but that’s an aside. The lack of aircraft was also interesting, though California is an outlier for having such a large airborne firefighting response on standby all the time. But, for a fire this size you’d see aircraft on scene within 20 minutes at most to try and contain the spread until hand crews and bulldozers could get in to build fire breaks.
In the uk we dont have a “routine” air response to brush fire , there is a mutual aid agreement leant to the civil services by a neighbouring military through the NATO partnership, but as a civil emergency service the UK has NO ability whatsoever to fight fire from the air.
I assume Ambers are the brightest colour and more visible Our cop cars have code 3 excalibur lightbar, amber at lower and blue lights on main dome and amber appears to be more brighter and visible than blue or red They are LED excaliburs btw
@@thunderbear0Thank you for your response. It has been proven that clear (white) light is the most conspicuous of all. I can only imagine that, given that you cannot have forward facing red lights (in the U.K.), then amber serves as a ‘warning’ colour.

The fire looks to be behind the butts of the rifle rangers at Longmoor. The red flag is up so shooting is going on. That entrance is at the end of a 600m range. 51°04'34.4"N 0°52'32.0"W My brother and his unit may have started a fire on the ranges up at Otterburn, well, they were expending the surplus tracer at the end of the training year...
It definitely was a manic day and so many good catches that day as well
Fun fact, the wildfire vehicle at 3:55 is not a 'knock off' land rover, it's actually a rebadged mercedes G wagon.
Yes, that's right. It's called a Steyr-Puch Super G.
@@scousertom0388 'Super G' being a UK fire service specific designation for it.

Just curious who was the pickup with the white body and red doors on it?
Says Training Safety on the side with an MoD sticker. So I presume it’s the safety officer for the military site
Modern-day Range Warden. My granddad was Range Warden of Strensall Camp during WW2.
3:47 bloody brilliant 2 tone air horn better then the modern whaler type sirens
It's really not though 😂
Are the white cars at 9:32 and 10:22 volunteer firemen?
They are fire officers
I’m pretty sure this is the first u tube catch of Bordon turning out from home station
Yes i believe it is along with most of the other bits are also a first haha
What’s the personal hygiene unit, rehab, portable wc or showers? We don’t have them in the states
Where are you looking?
Just portaloo chemical toilets
Is Borden retained?
Yes it is, pump, 4x4, water carrier and a co-responder
What a Vid!
