    Metal shmetal, Killing Joke were spawned by the punk scene, but created their own tribal, high energy, intelligent rock. They are their own genre in my opinion, just enjoy em.

      facts the worst day of my life was when I saw metallica covered their song on that album. KJ is maybe one of the bands I'll still kind of respect

    A plain reasonable and realistic guy. I like his awareness.
    He's very good in explaining how stupid commercial liveaid actually is... the money didn't go directly to the people.

    Thankfully Killing Joke don't really fit into a single pigeon hole musically, be it post-punk, metal, industrial or whatever. This is one of the things that I've always found refreshing about them. Their just a good fucking band and one of the most important ones of the last 30 years or so (and Jaz hates fucking Bono too, nice one fella).

    He's SO wise. He really understands the world in SUCH a profound way. I suppose spending your entire adult life without ever doing a day's work outside of travelling, doing the soundcheck, drinking the rider and regurgitating stats you read in magazines has lead Jaz to such a heightened state of awareness. Like Bono.

    Wow, he's read Carol Quigley's tragedy and hope in modern times! The 1st edition is the one to go for before everything was edited. Still, it is a great read. Carol Quigley was the librarian for the 12 banking families and they commissioned him to write a book of their history. The first 25000 copies sold out within 3 days! When Quigley asked his publisher what had happened he was told the book was a resounding failure! It was grudingly put out as a 2nd edition after the alterations. Anyway, all that aside Coleman is right this is a must read and these are the guys who are never mentioned on the internet. You can even try and search for their names but it won't come out! They are behind the Vatican, the Monarchy and all royal families and of course behind the so-called Jewish/zioniest cartel. Their history is the history you're never taught in school and the only other person to delve into them have been Dr Lana Corrine Cantrell who has been on the run ever since and wrote the greatest story never told. The other ones are jenny and Sterling Seagrave who wrote about the banking families influence in the East and the part this played in the world wars and why japan was nuked even after they surrendered.

    Consistently doesn't mean every year,does it?
    I'm not sure if the reunion is cashing in.
    In a practical way:they lost a hell of a bassplayer and they seem to have put aside their differences with Big Paul.
    So what's your reason for believing they're cashing in?

  • @MisAnnThorpe
    @MisAnnThorpe 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Surely anyone accusing Jaz/Killing Joke of cashing in would point at them allowing their songs to be used in video games. I know "The death and resurrection show" was used on one and I believe "Turn to red" was also used for is it Grand auto theft? I would genuinely like to hear Jaz explain why he agreed to this. If he is doing it because he wants to do something positive with the money, like setting up an eco village, then fair enough. It's just that like Jaz, I have a very suspicious nature!

  • @MisAnnThorpe
    @MisAnnThorpe 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's exactly the question I've been asking myself; Where did a bankrupt Nazi Germany find the resources to start a world war? Funny, but I don't ever remember seeing a single programme on the TV that attempted to answer that question. In fact, I don't even recall the question being asked! I think it might make for a very interesting and enlightening film but no, what we really need is another film about the holocaust!

      He sings about them😆.... 'panopticon' lyrics:
      Self censorship, self policing
      Shaping human behaviour
      Computer games, low attention span
      Distractions for the servile brain
      Inside the panopticon
      You don't have to have your phone on
      All behaviour calibrated from bulk metadata
      Weishaupt comes alive
      The all seeing eye
      All your habits, all your movements
      All your sexual preferences
      All your colleagues, all your friendships
      How often you take a shit
      All your debts, all your bets
      All your hopes and fears are known
      Consolidation in every nation
      The great work is nearly done
      Weishaupt comes alive
      The all seeing eye
      Everything is known, health and your loans
      All privacy gone in the panopticon
      Everything is known, health and your loans
      All privacy gone in the panopticon
      Retaining bulk metadata to be held against you
      The elitist leanings of man appealed to by corporations
      Diminishing expectations can be seen in every nation
      Many tongues, one voice
      The great work of age has come
      Weishaupt comes alive
      The all seeing eye
      Everything is known, health and your loans
      All privacy gone in the panopticon

    I think it's more to do with them getting older and realising they won't be able to do this for much longer. Yes, being able to play together again after so many years must be a fantastic buzz but I'm sure the paycheck doesn't hurt either.

  • @jmiester25
    @jmiester25 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @COwens i agree with Fancyjoke. remember this was back in 05 and Ferguson didn't come back till 08. and Youth has been back with them since 93 and he was of the main to bring them back in 02. he and Raven both contributed on their 03 album and Youth decided to let Raven do all of Hosannas, which was selfless of him. it is unfortunate that Raven died in 07 and Youth and Ferguson came back the next year in his honor.

    @sicomatt123 : It does not mean KJ are metal because they inspired certain metalbands.
    Agreed,they have some elements in their sound,but there are much more elements present than only metal.
    For instance take their debut album (1980) is that metal?No.It is so much more than just one stream or sound,that seems to be what KJ is all about : not to be pigeonholed.

  • @Sashphoenix

    Hehehehe, only Jaz could get away with calling Bob Geldof a sociopath! A lot of people decry him as a nutter and don't like what he says. However, I think he speaks an uncomfortable truth that we could all benefit from listening to, taking heed and making the very necessary changes. However, it might make your comfortable little life somewhat less so.

  • @COwens
    @COwens 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    'Consistently doesn't mean every year,does it?'
    Nor does it mean seven years.
    'So what's your reason for believing they're cashing in?'
    What sells better: Killing Joke on new album tour or original lineup playing selected classic albums in their entirity?
    If you read my comment, you'll see that I'm just as excited about the gigs as the next Gatherer. But when he dismisses reunions in a manner displayed in this interview, it does leave a bit of a sour taste. Remember Gems of Power?

    Hell,you have to make a living,right?
    I would do the same in his position I suppose.
    Selling out would be to play what people want to hear,they are not doing that imo.
    Agreeing to use a track for a game generates money,they might use that for some reason,no idea where it goes and all,stuff to do with royalties.
    Let's see some ecovillages then,and clue where they are?
    Any photos yet?
    I don't agree on all his speeches,but there is an element of honesty I respect.

    @Fancyjoke Actually, limiting population growth will help hugely. the human population of the planet grows yearly because we deny natural selection, the ill and in-firmed dont die, those babies born premature or deformed, dont die and people are living longer and longer. It won't solve it all but it would help. the "benefits society" has seen unemployed youngsters having two or three babies just so they can reap the tax paid benefits.

  • @sathos
    @sathos 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Studas2006 In all honesty it doesn't work...everyone has their own taste in music and as a lifelong gamer of the best part of thirty years I can happily state that if I don't like the music in a game I go into the options, turn it off and put my own on via other means, even in games with mixed soundtrack I will skip the stuff I simply dont like and listen to the songs I do enjoy.

    "I don't believe in our system of Democracy. Its a two horse race, and both horses are run by the same stable owner"
    No kidding. Civilisation is about having a stable ruling regime, not revolution between extremes every 4 years.
    Not to say change doesn't happen, just not frequently. Americans are basically in their 3rd social contract, the New Deal one being the latest, and the quasi-libertarian original and the Lincoln era being the others.

    @opensourcethong Don't b so naive! Yes, there no doubt are exceptions 2 the rule, like Roger Daltrey perhaps, who craves the adulation of an audience but do u really think Keith Richards would rather b sharing a stage with Jagger, playing "Brown sugar" again, than at home listening to his favourite blues & classical records? Charlie Watts has spoken quite openly about what a chore it is for him, playing drums in a rock band. These people choose a certain lifestyle & to maintain that costs money.

    All this "selling out" stuff. If you sell your music for profit, you've sold out. So why wouldn't an artist want thier music to be heard across many different platforms? If it is played on the radio that is somehow different? It's not.

    Jaz - fantastic vocalist, lyricist and frontman for possibly the greatest band of all time.
    But he is full of shit: 'putting out records consistently since 79'. Does a seven year gap count as consistent?
