I found TI4 base game more a sort of King the hill type of game, with Mecatol Rex. Prophecy of Kings adds so much more replay ability and makes it a true 4X game. I had my 32nd game last sunday, i love the game with a passion.
I absolutely love, love, love this game, and I haven't even played it all that often. It's truly incredible and, like you said, an event when it hits the table!
Dude you definitely need to get Prophecy of Kings in there!! Your new favourite game will only get even better..💯 nicely edited and presented video by the way. Loved it!! Btw, where'd you get those wormhole stands from? I've only ever seen 3D printed ones.
Eclipse is really just a space combat game. There's a little resource management, upgrading ships, and lots of dice rolling, but that's it. Once I'd play TI4, I sold my Eclipse copy because I just couldn't think of an occasion I'd want to play that instead of TI4. The only limiting factor is if you have the time to play TI4.
I love TI4 (I played TI3 too) and think this is a good review/intro. I will say, I think you are over stating the length of the game. I would say 8 hours as a usual time frame. Saying all weekend might scare people off.
I think 8 hours would be normal for experienced gamers (not necessarily experienced with TI4 I mean, just games in general). My group tends to be... not. So there's a lot of analysis paralysis ;)
@@TabletopDungeon Yeah, I played about a month ago with me, a very experience player and 4 people new to the game, who were all long-time gamers, and we did it in around 8 hours. Trying to teach this to non-gamers and get them to play it??? I couldn't imagine it really. I showed my brother the box and some the tiles and his eyes were glazing over. At this point I mostly am just blinging out my set and watching youtube videos, to feed the craving.
Welcome to my hell of trying to get 5 other adults to set aside an entire day to play one boardgame :D
I just started learning about the game and I love everything I've discovered, but now I have to live with my group never being able to play it...
That's why this is only suited for kids below 12
Yeah I wish I could place once a month, but in reality, it is more like once or twice a year.

This presenter is world class and so few subs? I wish him every success!
Aww, thanks for the kind words! :)
I thought I was listening to a BBC presentation! @@TabletopDungeon

I lasercut them on my CO2 laser ;) Sorry!
Definitely agree , best game ever if you have a nice group to play with :D
Welcome to the club, bruh.
Nice overview
I have this, gigantic monster of a game, but it’s so daunting, so I took out the space ships and use as ships in Dune imperium 😅
I'm in between of getting TI4 or Eclipse.. still not sure yet. Help! Lol

I would say second best after Root, but TI4 is quite a great game.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly! The gap between the two keeps getting thinner and thinner tho 😅
We tried it once but we much prefer Eclipse > More actions, more battles and easier to play often! So we sold back TI4.
