Add the hours of light on a timer in the morning.. that way it will not disturb their roosting. Otherwise they will be faced with instant darkness and won't be able to see how to get on the roost. I add my hours in the morning to it gives me 14 hr days... then the timer shuts off the light an hour after sunrise.. let it overlap enough that it will act as uninterrupted light.
I agree about the roost bars all being the same height. It cuts down on squabbling at roost time.
