Social media has a talent for causing bitterness xD It's handy to see what other people are doing, but it can really erode away at you. Getting away from it can always be super helpful :3 Glad to hear that you're feeling better about content creation!
Nice touch using the fanart as b-roll! It gives that sense of "Hey! I know the person who made this!" and makes me feel like I'm part of something nice ^^
I appreciate this video Yam. I came in late, but I understand you've been struggling a lot. And I'm happy top see you refusing to give up. I think you're insights are right on the money especially with regards to avoiding being overwhelmed by negativity. I think your mention about the frustration with not being able to be as productive as you like resonates with me. Thank you!
So glad you and so many others have felt that this video resonated with them. it definitely makes me feel less alone. Thank you for taking the time to share!
These are one of the reasons I admire you. You saw what was wrong and decided to make changed that are best for you. I too will simply do what I enjoys 😊
Thanks, great stuff. I'm glad you also, whether through your Discord server rules or here, meaningfully use positivity, not merely to mask, gloss over, or downplay the bad out there, but add to the conversation with your own and others' good stuff, as well as critiquing in relaxed ways that are more likely to break through, or at least not step on others' feelings. Really neat things here, I hope I can apply some of this in my own life, even with my own strong convictions, goals, and desires. :3 Proud of you, as always!
Yes, new years is a great time to reevaluate how the past year went and use that information to help shape your mindset for the next year! I am looking forward to the new year myself!
A lot of the planning in this video can be applied to life instead of just content creation. It echos stuff my therapist has said to me in an effort to help me out of depression. Good video.
Thank you! I am so grateful to my fan artists for giving me such great options. The original art is found here, please go support the artist, as they are a hidden gem! x.com/babadabra/status/1718628812420743186?s=20
Damn, pretty relatable stuff regarding TH-cam for me too atm, I find your content very interesting and hope you won't stop doing what you do. Take care Yam.
good to see you back, I have been somewhat binging your content to help me get my head round Vtubing/content creation, thank you for all the vids you have done and I look forword to what you will be doing form here on
Thought I had commented on this previously, but not seeing it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences on this. A majority of this can also be applied outside of content creation. 😊
I think I'll try some of those steps for myself. I make Touhou arrangements as a hobby and every now and then something happens and I get really bitter, suddenly hate the community, and get in this mind set of "Nobody cares about me or the music I make. I suck anyways so why should I even bother. I'm just going to quit. I really hate it here." So hopefully taking some of those steps will help me out too
I see a lot of people talk about how twitter is overly negative...yet somehow this sort of stuff really makes it into my feed... I chalk it up to what posts I tend to interact with and how I seem to be an anomaly to any sort of content algorithm (in terms of content being suggested to me); anyhow hope 2024 treats you well and look forward to my continual lurking
The bitterness is something everyone will go through at some point. But its always nice to see when a creator i follow actually adresses it in a way to do better. I will be looking forward to all your upcoming projects no matter when they come out, take your time.
Hey Yam! I'm glad to see that you were able to pull yourself out of that pit of bitterness. I definitely understand wanting to keep up with trends, but sometimes it's easy for us to get trapped in it, and to misinterpret the things that we see. And even easier to focus on the people who *don't* seem to have problems get noticed or staying monetized, while missing all the ones who do. It's a cruel irony that the practices that yield the greatest quality and integrity are also the ones that seem to fall on the wrong side of algorithms. For what it's worth, the Irys video in particular was one of the ones that got me interested in your channel. It was great to see a detailed breakdown of what makes a vtuber design work or not work, and I've liked some of the other videos you've made describing (for example) trends in the corporate scene as well. They're videos that have definitely made me think about the state of the vtuber scene, and why certain decisions are made. It sucks that the Irys video was demonetized, because I really think it's essential viewing for understanding some important aspects of character design as a non-artist. As for scrapped projects, they're a very difficult-to-accept fact of the creative process. Bands typically leave TONS of songs unpublished, and we're lucky to get even a few of them as B-sides. It's just something you don't really see as a consumer, because they're not mentioned anywhere in the track list. As an independent creator, this feels way rougher, because we have to manage our own time and output. It sucks! But sometimes it's best to just let something go if it doesn't come together in a way that we're satisfied with (or at all). Anyway, I'm glad to see a new video from you, and I hope your 2024 is more positive for you than your 2023 was. Best of luck!
I just had a discussion with my mom bc of a fight she had with my negative granny, so i opened YT, and then this video… And i wasn't expecting to feel better so soon. Even myself, an internet addict, can recognize when social media gets out of hand, and starts making the good things, into bad things, so i celebrate your choice, Yam. Social media is great for growth, but also not that great to the mind, so we should all try to stay away from it, like, not using them 24/7! Jaja. There's a lot of negativity out there, but learning to focus less on that and more on the positive examples, is a whole other lesson, and it takes time, and a strong will to do so. Our brains can easily fall into the trap of feeding off negativity, that we forget how amazing it is what we already accomplished, so congratulations, Yam, you already did a part of the mental tasks needed for this! I hope to see more positive and constructive content in the future, i really like your channel, and i love when you are so positive, like this, it inspires me to be better myself.🌈✨
