Until recently, I had no idea that Sora turned into his Timeless River form during Clock Drill's Shotlock. I never used the Keyblade, but I still find that so cool.
I love this stuff so much. It feels like Sora is finally mastering the Keyblade. Where the lingering will’s keyblade form changes were seemingly arbitrary, Sora’s are an extension of his connections to his friends. Where Lingering Will gets a motorcycle thing, Sora gets a chariot from Olympus. Where Terra gets a generic cannon, Sora uses the Magic Launcher. Instead of a whip, Sora gets… a yo-yo, I guess? Really cool stuff. Easily one of the best additions to the series.
Considering that Terra is formally trained, his keyblade's forms are likely not arbitrary, but established techniques dating back to Dark Road!Scala ad Caelum

I was just pointing out that Sora’s are functionally similar to that of a trained keyblade wielder (thus displaying his gradual mastery of the weapon) while the specific details and styles of his form changes reflect the people he’s connected with on his journey, hammering home the whole “my friends are my power” thing.

When people say Anti-form and Rage Form are similar, I believe they're talking about playstyle; both of them deal in savage multi-hit attacks, and high evasive capability, at the cost of *most* of your other abilities while active. Personally, I believe that Rage Form *IS* Anti-form, the difference being that now Sora can control it.
These videos made me appreciate a lot of the Formchanges more than i initially did, so i'm glad a compiled video's been made for this. Hoping Formchanges (or something akin to them) appear in future games so we get more of these, cos they're great!

Having recently restarted kh3 on crit for the first time(clean start no carry overs) this is super helpful to refresh my memory on different blades. This is awesome for so much information. Great work
2:16:50 "Look at her". "Undead". "Beloved". My mind went to Yozora, since he can't find his 'beloved', and is seeking her at the border of sleep and death. There is also a connection to Strelitzia, as she too is a missing 'beloved' character found in Quadratum, the realm beyond death. Though it makes more sense for Sora and Yozora to be tied in this way as Sora is mistaken for the other through out the game. Though again, no one is looking for Strelitzia right now either. "Look at her", almost becomes like a command.
I see them more as command styles from BBS than Drive forms from KH2 they function like command styles and even have some of the same attacks and animations as the command styles in bbs

Best early game build imo is shooting star+ever after+happy gear. The mobility and ranged potential of double arrowguns is great for training hordes and weakening bigger hp bars. Mirage staff gives some serious dps at mid-long range and its finisher is best used as a nuke. Agile claws is so good for rapid close range dps, plus twin yoyos is so fucking insane, if you can use a lot of flow motion in the combat arena you're basically untouchable Yoyos work great for close-long range Imo the counter shield transformations are basically useless and hyper hammer is kinda mid as it felt a bit too slow and heavy so if i suggest sticking with second form until you go to monsters and drop that soon as you get happy gear, at that point ideally you wanna get the three keyblades into theur transformations asap and swap between the three quickly as needed for the ideal range. After getting those three I'd suggest the frozen keyblade next to replace happy claws or shooting star depending on how quickly youre able to switch the claws into the yoyos and whether you feel you need or want more melee or ranged power
Rage form feels like Anti but it’s more controlled. I wish there was some kind of story lore behind this form. It feels like this is much more controlled and it feels like Sora has more control of when he uses it.
that would've been amazing to see fleshed out, as we never get an explanation on both Rage and Anti from the lores standpoint and only through the game mechanics view point
As much as I love the variety of the form changes, there’s just something that is more satisfying about the drive forms. I can’t put my finger on it. Double form is dope though, no arguments there.
y'know, if i were to change the magic some of the forms use counter shield: aoe frying pan: cannon blizzard claws: arrows honey blasters: cannon honey launcher: arrows boom hammer: cannon clock drill: arrows
Hidden potential is mainly used for low level/level 1 runs. Hidden potential is on every formchange and increases your stats by a predetermined amount given the combat level of an area if your lower level/strength to compensate. Example: If the area is level 1 in combat but you've been doing no exp the entire time till the end the formchanges hidden potential will secretly increase your strength and magic by 10, and the values grow higher each world. Its impossible to notice unless you're literally doing a low level/1 run because the thresholds needed to bypass hidden potential is very forgiving.
Could you maybe do a review on Trueblade Seeker’s “With Style” videos? I know it seems a bit weird, but considering some of the combo moves he uses/creates, I think it would be interesting
People hating that we do t have driveforms forget that keyblade tranaformations Do the same as driveforms without locking out abseits. Replaying kh 2 made me relise ther equaly as good..kh 3 however handle theway the plot is told better. And i finaly relised that the reason Maleficent wasnt seatching fot the Black Box in kh 2 was RIGHT she was locking for a new hideout..... that seasms to ne somethibg she Drops after kh 2 or is she now using TWTNW?
I'm really regretting not using these Formchanges more. I was stubborn and mostly only used Kingdom Key so it would be in cutscenes lol. They really need an option to set a Keyblade to always appear in cutscenes in the future. Also, I wonder if Sora got the idea of the Twin Arrowguns from Xigbar? 🤔
i really hate that every dlc keyblade has the same exact formchange they could’ve gave an actual reward for preordering not just a rehashed kingdom key
I always thought these were more upgraded forms of sora's drive forms from KH2, due to their color scheme and their abilities related to certain fighting techniques (Elemental being one as wisdom displays more long-range magic based magic in KH2 and elemental form shows this and with slight glides when moving away like wisdom form did) idk if this is correct, but I always thought about it this way.

I've noticed something about Wisdom form and Element form: Sora's Wisdom clothes are decorated with flames. I think this is because magic is usually associated with knowledge, and the flames are a callback to the Greek myth of the Titan Prometheus, giving the fire of knowledge to humanity. However, Sora's Element clothes replace the flames with stars. Why exactly this change was enacted, I don't know. Perhaps it's because magic can also be loosely associated with astrology? Either that, or it's meant to represent a Wiccan pentagram (the star representing the five elements).
Techincally yes. Sora implements drive form combos in his formchanges (at least in the strongest versions like ultima,oblivion and oathkeeper) and adds more to that. The only argument can be made with finalm form of kh2 but it's hard to understand hoe it compares to the strongest formchanges as they are all broken
Late reply but: KH3 Sora at base is much stronger than KH2 Sora (going off his strength at the end of both games). KH2 Drive Forms provide a much more significant power boost (because he merges with his allies to transform), especially Final Form, but since his base is so much higher the KH3 Formchanges result in Sora being stronger overall.
I’m sure everyone has thought of this but why do the creators give the lingering will and xehanort the ability to use their key blades as whips and bows while the main characters could not I mean yeah we get cool form changes but I always thought the ferocious flurry of whip action was cool and did quite a number on your Health
Doubt you'll see this roxas but. Sora's rage for seems to have 4 hearts not counting sora's used in risk charge. So that means sora has another heart inside him. Perhaps thats vanitas still holding onto the part of vens heart he had in bbs
so 2 of the 3 "pre-order" keyblades are able to be obtained, midnight blue and dawn till dusk can be purchased as dlc keyblades you can start with, whitch i did for midnight blue
i cant help but think the symbols that appear on soras clothing are incorrectly placed, especially the blue flames not being on the blue form. in the original kh2 there were glitches with the symbols not appearing which was fixed in the remix version

So in a sense 'tis' might literally mean "Nothing" "But you were nothing" A reach, someone also pointed out 'tis' could also be "Something." Again, playing with the idea that kingdom hearts plays around with language when it comes to things literally meaning something or nothing.
Second Form: yeah its fun, but the effects on a lot of attacks are way tuned down compared to the original. Idk it's fun but I was never a huge fan Counter shield: this shit carried me through the ansem trio. The block and massive damage on wrathful flurry are amazing, not the mention the healing shotlock. Its amazing on critical, especially on boss fights. the finisher command is ass though Shooting Star: mmmm love wisdom form 2.0, especially since its mixed with some xiggy. Not a huge fan of magic launcher though, I definitely prefer the guns Favorite deputy: the keyblade is so damn hideous that I refuse to use it and have no opinion on it. The forms will be mentioned on Classic Tone Mirage Staff: yeah this shits my favorite. Sora rarely uses Light on its own. Explosion is the only main line example iirc. But this is Sora finally going all in on HIS element. Yes, the finisher is ass and keeps you in place too long. Don't do the full combo then. god i love sora being an actual mage. Wisdom doesnt count, Keyblade is just being used as a gun
If you can beat a game without ever purposefully utilizing a tool, then that tool shouldn't be there. Form changes are just extra fluff to make you think you're making more choices than you actually are. Once you realize that most of Sora's moves perform redundant functions, all strategy gets sucked out of the combat and you're left with a glorified rhythm game.

Counter shield was helpful for most of the game since it gave me the second chance ability. I had to wait until lvl 42 to get it otherwise

I just realized. Nano bots can be anything, so it'd make sense that weapons based off them have a wide variety of attacks and attack styles

Mirage Staff: yeah this shits my favorite. Sora rarely uses Light on its own. Explosion is the only main line example iirc. But this is Sora finally going all in on HIS element. Yes, the finisher is ass and keeps you in place too long. Don't do the full combo then. god i love sora being an actual mage. Wisdom doesnt count, Keyblade is just being used as a gun

If you can beat a game without ever purposefully utilizing a tool, then that tool shouldn't be there. Form changes are just extra fluff to make you think you're making more choices than you actually are. Once you realize that most of Sora's moves perform redundant functions, all strategy gets sucked out of the combat and you're left with a glorified rhythm game.
They really should've just kept the Drives from Kingdom Hearts 2.
Kh3 is real gimmicky which is why I didn’t like it, kh2 forms were just better

I absolutely LOVE formchange!! The designs, the new abilities, it’s probably my favorite thing about using a keyblade, including keyblade gliders!!!!
