Life In BASILAN In 2023 (30 Hours In Isabela City)

  • LIFE IN BASILAN - I'M BACK ONE YEAR LATER.
I first came here last June, and loved it so much that I came back a month later.
This time around, I spent one and a half days trying to really understand how life is in 2023, with lots of different explorations around Isabela City, the island's largest.
From Marang-Marang, whose women's association is rapidly developing with a new floating cottage and a thriving weaving industry, to the former JW Strong/American Rubber/BF Goodrich rubber plantation in Barangay Baluno that's now under a cooperative, to seeing old friends on the boulevard, to Isabela City's public market on bagsakan day (products are brought from the nearby mountains to the city every Sunday) to a local-style lunch on Block 4 beach - these were such great experiences.
Isabela City - I love its diversity, its vibrancy, and its openness.
*** I STILL RECOMMEND YOU COORDINATE WITH THE ISABELA CITY TOURISM OFFICE BEFORE COMING HERE. CONTACT THEM ON FACEBOOK: / isabelacitytourism

Thank you, KD, for featuring that part of my country. I am a Filipina living in Belgium for decades now. Soon I will be retiring and I will be back for good to my amazing country. My country is blessed with abundant natural resources, good, happy and kindhearted people.

One can see from the public market scene how rich the soil and the waters are around Basilan. If we did not have a peace and order issue there for decades, this place and a lot of the people in it would be very wealthy now and the place would also be a great tourist destination. It's not too late and I'm very glad to see the steps taken to improve the people's lives and livelihood there. Thanks for sharing and more power to you!

Ansel, whenever I watch your vlogs I can't help but be amazed at how you discover and explore introducing those various parts of our country and culture. Something that most of us has never done in our entire lifetime. But because of foreigners like you, we get to discover, appreciate, and understand more of our culture and fellow citizens in those somewhat remote areas of our country. Plus, whenever I watch you and your vlogs, it is like I am watching a British National Geographics because of your gorgeous voice. I guess someone might have already mentioned this to you one time in your vlogs maybe. Hehehe. 💞🙌🎉🎊

    Mangrove Forests are very important.
These are vital assets to both marine and terrestrial wildlife, acting as nurseries for various species of fish, birds, and invertebrates. They provide rich habitats for numerous creatures, and their dense root systems help to stabilize shorelines, prevent erosion, and maintain water quality by filtering sediments and trapping debris from the open ocean.
