I've had a 250 on my planted 55gal for 3 years but it can just barely handle it. I added 2 powerheads to help. I'm getting a 350 now. It totally depends on your bio-load. The 250 worked great until my acaras had babies + the plant growth. The tank crashed. So... get the 350 if you plan on having plants and cichlids. I will say though.. it's an amazing filter. Solid as a rock and quiet for 3 years. Rotate Purigen through the can and you'll have crystal clear water.

Hi can you please tell me how many litters per hour are you geting from this filter the classic 350 as I just bought one I used to have 2x 250s and I got 360/390lph from them that's after going through media and back up to tank the output hose when thought an eheim reef flex 350uvc unit I was shocked at how much flow I was geting from it as most canisters only put out 50% of the top flow but I also do know the rated flows at zero head by look on ur video I'd guess ur maybe geting 495ltrs of the 620ltrs rated?
Boris Yurin I keep my filter in the cabinet under the fish tank and the noise has never bothered me. If they’re noisy it means there is air trapped in the system, which should sort itself out after a few minutes, or it’s a warning that something is wrong. Last time my filter was noisy it was because I hadn’t fitted the impeller properly. Otherwise it’s a constant low hum that doesn’t bother me in the kitchen, I’m not sure I’d want to sleep next to it.
kilden Hi Kilden, you can purchase double taps which attach to the inlet & outlet hoses and these allow you to shut off the water flow and disconnect the filter without draining the whole system. Some Eheim filters come ready supplied with a set of double taps but if yours didn't then you can buy them separately. If you buy double taps make sure that you get the right size taps to fit your hoses as there are different sizes depending on your Eheim filter model.
He's pulling the return bar out off the water too show how much water is flowing. Normally, that's supposed to be under the water level. These filters are ridiculously quiet. There's a low hum from the motor, but you won't even hear that when it's in a cabinet under the aquarium. FAR quieter than any HOB filter in existence.
I just bought myself also a 250 for a 60-65L tank. I went to another shop of the same chain and there they said it would be too much. What media do you have inside? (Want to install it tomorrow)
Correct. The Eheim 250 is a 2213. I have one in a 75 gallon with two RES turtles and it's not enough. Having to clean a lot. Looking at a 2215 or even a 350.
Always over filter so get a filter rated for 50 gallons and you will be good to go your tank will be much cleaner and you wont need to clean it as often
I'm pretty sure my 250 started out much stronger but weakened after about a year for no apparent reason, even after thorough cleaning of impeller and pipes it will never be as strong as it used to be brand new. My 350 is still going strong after 2.5 years though.
Not true at all I have a fluval 407 and a ehiem classic 600 and the 600 hold way more media zero water bypass and just as much power if not more even though the gph rating is 270 and the 407 is 385gph
I have an eheim 2215 and it fucking SUCKS. The DARN THING wont fucking FLOW. I'm about to throw the damn thing by the window, I don't care who you are, the fact that it works so well is pure fucking luck.

With most canister filter there is a low hum but these are pretty quiet if there is no air in the canister and the return pipe is submerged

animeworldnr1 I use coarse sponges (you can buy extra from Eheim) at the bottom, then fine filter wool and a bag of ceramic rings at the top.

Ehiem classic 250 would be good or 350 depending on your stocking

@@daize92 I cleaner my 2213, everything - pipes, output/input from filter, put a vaseline on impeller. Its like new.
