This is the best funeral doom album ever, still unparalleled.
Mehmet Ziya Aypar I still prefer Stream From the Heavens, but this one is amazing too; they're like Left Hand Path and Like an Everfowing Stream: it's hard to choose.
I prefer mournful congregations book of kings.

Awesome album, now is like a classic not only in this genre "Funeral Doom" but Metal in general...
Their best; lovely and moving, yet strangely compelling and meaningful; not depressive at all. A fine achievement..
Their lyrics are philosophical and so much more than the generic pretendy misery that many lesser doom bands can't seem to get away from. I think doom at its finest is the most human and empowering of Metal styles in many ways.

I still think they are the best together with Bell Witch, do not think wrong Mournful Congregation, Evoken, Esoteric, all majestic bands. But in those cases I feel the depresison, here it looks to me more like a ceremony.

Does anyone else hear some Type O Negative elements to this record? Some of the synth lines are reminiscent of Josh's style in my opinion.
Kip Dynamite I wasn't saying one is better than the other (although seeing as you have, I've pick TON any day). I was simply making a comparison between the element's of each band's sound.
Kip Dynamite True, Josh played keyboards and piano as opposed to an organ.
Same tuning as Type O used as well, which makes the tones sound very remincent.
Yeah its reminiscent but I prefer this, it lacks the tacky pastiche that type o has. Both great bands

IMHO this brief Continental milieu of 90s "funeral" doom (Thergothon, Disembowelment etc) is the ultimate aesthetisation of this style of metal. truly detest all Anglo-Saxon stoner/drone trash...

If I was a drug user, I am sure I would choose smack over cocaine. I like my metal the same way--slow, grinding, dirgelike. This band hits the spot.
You definitely would ... the countless nights I spent with a bottle of smirnoff , or some other cheap shit , on one side and a foil in which I would run a huge Heroine Caramel , from time to time , in between dream and lucidity which were most of the time one and the same , all this while spinning records from that era such as Unholy´s " 2nd ring of Power " ( probably my favourite Doom record of all time ) ; Monumentum´s " In absentia Christi " and many other escapism enducing records which weren´t even necessarily Metal ... just full of dark psychedelia and dreamy soundscapes ( think Lustmord or even 80´s The Cure ) .

Is the sound quality on this video true to the original?
Svart records from Finland is doing a re-issue (cd and lp) of this very soon with a new mix by the band from the original master tapes. If you want a release with the best sound, then you should probably pick that up. There is a sample song from that online that you can easily find. It certainly ads a lot more separation for the instruments and lot more clarity. I will pick up my copy from them when it releases.

Adds to the vibe tbh. But I do wish a lot of doom albums had better cleaner production at times.
I got here on accident. This is like a 1.4 out of 10. This sounds like the music you would hear in a world war two documentary when you find out what the germens were getting up to.

if you think this album is a 1.4 out of 10 I'm not interested to hear what you consider good music, cause quite frankly you're not to be trusted at all. This is the pinnacle of funeral doom and a perfectly paced somber dreadful album with rich texture. Piss off annona.

Understood, but this subgenre takes time and many other bans give you other perspectives, so over time you could enjoy it without the need to fill you concerns or state of personal interest.
