Y'all must travel a lot farther than we do in a day. We're old retired FTers who try to limit our travel says to between 150-200 miles. We will get up and make coffee before we head out at around 9:00 am or so. Then we'll drive for 3-4 hrs., usually making a stop for gas and maybe a sausage biscuit or a bottle of water before stopping for the day around 1-2 pm. When we stop for the night before our final destination, we will always find a free place to park for the night. It might be an Interstate rest area, a Cracker Barrel, a Bass Pro Shop, a city park or a Walmart parking lot (usually to do a little shopping), as long as it's near our travel route and it's free.
When we stop, we are ready for our big meal of the day. We frequently eat leftovers, make a sandwich or buy something at a nearby business (we like chicken on the road - either roasted or fried). We always get extra, so we can zap some up later. It's nice having enough batteries and solar to be able to run anything in our coach, for as long as we like - microwave, both A/Cs, heat, etc. and still have power to spare. One of the nicest things about traveling in a motorhome is not having to exit a truck and walk back to our RV with our pets if it's cold, bad weather or the area doesn't look that safe. Plus, the temperature is always correct inside when we stop - no waiting for the temperature to get correct before we transfer our pets, and the animals don't get upset leaving their comfortable home. It's nice to be able to start the engine and drive off almost instantly, at any time we feel uneasy or unsafe.
BTW, we're in NC now, not far from Charlotte, visiting family. We found a nice RV park that's letting us camp in a spacious dry campsite for only $100/mo. We dump and fill about very 2 weeks like we are boondocking, saving $500/mo. vs their FHU sites. Hope to see you down the road one day!

We try to keep it at about 300 miles per day depending on how fast we need to get some place. Thanks for watching.

We are not full timers yet. So we have a box that we keep just behind the center console with snacks. Our trips short, usually under 200 miles. Once or twice a year, we take a week and go further for a longer drive. On those trips, we will stop at a rest stop. Go in the camper and make low carp wraps and turkey, ham, and cheese.
Mike will make a regular sandwich.
