    My dad was a Los Angeles Policeman and he taught me how to drive a car. That was one of the things he always told me, that Allen concluded the show with, was to always watch out for the other guy when driving. That advice of my dad saved me from many accidents over the decades.

    I love the the way the celebrities really look like their having a good time, and want their partners to win. So fun to watch their genuine glee then they/their partner guesses the word.Today's celebrities wouldn't condescend to play a game like this.

    As a second or even first clue for "Balloon" I can tell you one thing they could have done that would have cinched it: turns out In July - LITERALLY two months before this taping - the song "Up Up and Away" was released and a smash hit on the radio (for those of you who don't know the song, "up, up and away… In my beautiful BALLOON…" It was on everybody's mind at that time (even me as a six-year-old kid) so if the clue giver just sang (no gestures) "AWAAYYYYY" OK... and maybe snuck in a little eye movement up toward the ceiling, LOL - certainly is a second clue I think that would have cinched it :-)

      'Montgolfier' was the first clue I thought of for 'balloon'.

    • @voicetube
      @voicetube 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasonhurd4379 could be a good one. That said, I had not been familiar with that word until I googled it just now, so would not have thought of that and it wouldn't have worked with me, obviously :-) Back then though, maybe Montgolfier would have worked with the folks on this show.

    Funny how that's before dude was part of the normal vernacular of especially young people which probably started about five years after this was taped - maybe that's being charitable and we could say six or seven. I think that iteration may have started with "surfer dude"

      It was a pejorative used in the old west to describe a city slicker or a green horn. That's why the guy got it from the clue "ranch"

      @@lynnturman8157 Good point. Yes, I had forgotten about how "dude" was used most certainly in the old West. PS, I am voicetube but I'm responding from my other channel.

    At least as a second or third clue, I'm surprised no one said "Chicken" for "Henpecked." While saying the word "Chicken" as a clue, maybe having a little angry look on your face and pushing your nose forward a short ways very quickly (I know, no gestures but if it were done subtly it would have probably been allowed).

    I guess in the lightning round, for "Quit" he could've first said "Give…" (And after the contestant dude would've probably said take) then followed up quickly with "Up" ( with a downward liltin the voice).

    Good episode of password with Dolphin London and Jim Backus the only thing wrong with it is it's missing 18 seconds

    • @loissimmons6558
      @loissimmons6558 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it is missing more than 18 seconds. And it repeats part of the earlier words played. The word "virtue" is announced and suddenly it skips back to an earlier part of the game. Suddenly the players have switched celebrities. We never see the end of the first game for the second set of players, including the lightning round.

    Wouldn’t have thought “Bull” was roughly a form of the word Bullfight. It’s contained within it but is also a word within its own right. If Dorothy had given the clue as “Bull” I doubt it would have been accepted as valid.
