- Headed out to my friends house with the G scale tehachapi loop layout in his back yard for some operations and just plain old fun running trains. I hope everyone enjoys this video and thanks for watching! Be sure to check out TJs website and youtube channel to see more of this amazing layout!

That’s some beautiful artwork there, some fine gardening and excellent construction. What’s most surprising is someone running these beautiful trains through this beautiful garden at realistic speeds. Well done!
That bloody neighbour is running his trains again, at 6 in the bloody morning. I am starting a petition to get him/her to start at 5 in the bloody morning !!! . Fabulous layout and awesome sound. Wish I was your neighbour, so I could help with derailments. Thank and regards people. Dave
So cool would love to see more of this garden layout. amazing
Thank you for NOT running the train at 150 MPH. Love to see the consist.
I agree. So much better with the trains at a slow speed
Realistic to the gauge as well. Looks all around better at the speed they had going, than most.
Fantastic sound 🎉
I couldn't focus on the awesome locomotive sound systems because of the incessant axel squeaking. Just a drop of machine oil on each surface every once in a while totally remedies that.
Wow that is so cool You've made a G scale replica of Tehachapi Pass Great job on the loop at Walong
It’s my buddies layout but it’s awesome for operations
@NSReadingLineRailfan is there a layout diagram posted anywhere?
That was really nice to watch
Glad you enjoyed it!
***** Well Done Gentleman !
Suuuuuper cool!
I liked that lumber car; its appearance was highly realistic!
SDP45. in there too. I watch for custom locos since I built my SD40T-2. Great theme area for a layout.
Wow a lot of trackage !
Thanks for producing and sharing this vid' of your friends awesome layout .
G-gauge derailment ! yooowser
For my 40' lumber load I fastened to the flatcar using a small screw coming up from the bottomside into the bottom cross bar.
Looking at your footage of the derailment site it looks like the approaching curve is slightly 'superelevated', coming into that flattening section of curve, where it looks like the higher unfastened lumber load shifted too much for the change (?).
I 'found' that an AristoC'-RDC can like a track inspection unit, identifying potentially challenging sections of trackage for some units of consists ;-)
Also enjoyed seeing all their flourishing 'Alberta Dwarf Spruce' 8-)
"G-Gauge may not RULE, But it GROWS on Ya !! " djc'99
Need another project ? ;-)
How about painting that section of seemingly steel rail fenceline green (maybe spattered shades of gr'n), and develop saay about a foot long tunnel under it with a low-budget/homemade cutout 'portal' at each end 8-)
Our G-gauge worlds' are never "completed", similar to the real world imho, LoL
Personally been lucky to drop down (via LAX lol) to visit the Tehachapi Loop the beginning of the week, then along with Lvg'Desert, Perris, no time for Disney' just a week of (other) rail' ;-) , ..... previous to attending the main event - the days of BTS'02, on the Queen' . 8-)
Not a problem! There are many other videos from this layout on my page and a few on my friends page if your search “G scale Tehachapi loop”
Thats really neat, thanks for sharing!
Incredible !
so cool! i love the custom pieces and repaints!
There’s quite a few in there!
Thumbs up because you showed what really happens with model railroads (love that lumber load). Trying to be prototypical with DPUs was a nice touch, but I believe you have WAY too much prime mover power up front, 2 or 3 engines is all that is necessary in that situation, especially since it appears your cars aren't weighted. Your engines should slip before pulling cars off the track. In addition, all engines should (including DPUs) be MU'd together responding to one control if this was DCC. The start voltage, and individual engine decoder settings can be manipulated for nearly exact start and pull. Very nice video!!
Love the SP Dash-9's you have. I was lucky enough to get 1 from Scale Trains in N scale.
That’s amazing!
Nice to see someone running at scale speed.
LOL Want a laugh? I showed this video to my aide. He thought they were real trains.....lol.... I've been a collector of G scale trains for many years, but I never had an outdoor garden layout. Sadly, my collection is just static display pieces now. It's been years since I've heard the sound systems in my locomotives. I even have a gorgeous G scale Blue Comet set, made by the now defunct Aristo-Craft. I even have gorgeous Aristo-Craft RDC's and trolley cars.
Haha yeah my friends collection is mostly ARisto, USA and LGB And mine is mainly USA and Aristo
The circuit is very good, only that they should have made the curves wider, it turns out that it is very closed and makes it difficult for the wagons to move due to tension, the other thing is that they had to remove the central wheels of all the locomotives, I think they lose traction, but the circuit is very good, and doing it at ground level is excellent, besides that the terrain has an inclination and that is good because it makes you think about how to save the slopes, really very good, greetings
Where you there like 2 weekends ago? If so I was the guy who came later with the Winchester and Western locomotive that was also running around
That is awesome!!!! But its not a train without a caboose! lol 👍👍👍
Meravigliosamente bello , come nella vita reale👍💪
Sweet seat up
Nice plants
I'm not a train person at all, but I love watching various vids. That derailling - I've always wondered why that inwards pull on curves doesn't cause tipping over in the real world.
It does .....A LOT ! They have many "string lines" on the real Tehachapi!
That was too cool
You guys need to model some RJ Corman equipment and crew for your layout to keep up with your derailments!
wuonderful😮
wow, a 4 axle SD45R. never seen before🤪
That was done to help navigate some of the sharper curves inside the house
I have an N scale outdoor railroad in my gazebo. Daily dust requires constant cleaning every single time I run trains otherwise the locomotive makes a horrible connection. How do you keep all these rails so clean and have good continuity to the locomotive so well?? This is awesome
@@RCsportflyer22 everything is battery powered
@@NSReadingLineRailfan that is cool. I didn’t realize that was an option! What systems are you using?
@@RCsportflyer22 railpro with big lipo batteries
Olá, sou do Brasil. Linda ferrovia e jardim. Obrigado, Vanderley.
Fantastic! Did you do a “building of” video?
Unfortunelty no, it’s not my layout it’s a friends, but they’ve been building for 8+ years and it’s really not even done yet
Nice
12:32 stringlined
where is that poison train going right?
Great great video. Question? Are all four engines powered or is just the lead engine-powered and pulling the rest of the train?
All engines are powered, with those grades you can’t afford to have dummy units with each car weighing in at 3lbs a piece
@@NSReadingLineRailfan Thank you. You are my go-to guy with all the answers.
You need to pick up the dead horses.
😂
you need a rail hobo sat on one of the grain wagons just to finish it off
It's me again NS Reading Line Railfan. I know the engines are powered with a battery but are there different levels of power. I mean can you purchase more powerful batteries?
Yes you can
@@NSReadingLineRailfan again I thank you
I Gave You "5 STARS" !!! (Dam U Tube Comments)
It's outside. 😮
WOW !
What are the 2 different materials that the tracks are on at 7:00 minutes and 11:00 minutes?
Both the same, corrugated foam board which the track is attached too, just one is colored and the other isn’t.
WOW a ex EL SDP45
Es geht auch mit einem
Big Boy und einer Dash-9 &
24 Streamliner .
Grüße vom Peter aus Berlin-Germany
That is awesome! How do you keep that out of the Elements?
You don’t… it’s out side, all the rolling stock comes in his house but the track stays out all year long.
"G-gauge may not RULE, But it GROWS on Ya !! " djc'99 8-)
@NSReadingLineRailfan do you have snow at your place ?
Question what is TJs official TH-cam channel Name.. The links don't work for me.. I would like to subscribe... We have the same taste in engines.. Amazing setup and running sessions Thanks 😎👍
Belt line Productions
Thank you so much I subscribed to both of you... Awesome channels
😎👍
love the layout, would like to make next open house, what state are you in?
Pennsylvania, open houses are usually popup but keep an eye on his website!
bro this is so funny in a way
What’s funny about it?
small train with the big horn, no hate i just thought it was funny@@NSReadingLineRailfan
At 10:09 & 12:14 Oops! Train Derailments/Slow Motion Replays.
What brand engine are you running there not lgb are they
A good mix of USA Trains and AristoCraft
Looks like shit got real. Just like it does in real life!
We had so much force the couplers between engines came apart causing the string lining lol just meant we needed more rear Helpers
@@NSReadingLineRailfan I see you stuck in some mid-train helpers later! Much safer!
That's a seriously good video! I was expecting one of those toy train set ups, but nope; a proper model of Tehachapi in G scale. JUST AWESOME!!!
Die Wagen sind zu leicht und müssen alle Kugelachsen haben .

in democratic america, trains deliver democracy.
🙋👋Oi
Its need to go a little faster, but i like it
Why faster? It’s realistic for trains to go slow
@@NSReadingLineRailfan oh sorry, it wasn't towards you, I just used to running trains a little faster and watching them, hope you understand.
The curve 8s to tight
It’s protypical… that’s part of the challenges the real railroads face too
...is to t
Look you all, this, and the majority of people who have the money for this child's hobby, is not true modeling. They are only operators. There is not one example of anything depicted in this video that represents true modeling.
What do you mean it’s not true modeling… they are building era accurate locomotives and rolling stock that ran on this route in their era that were never produced, hell they made their backyard geography match the prototype area. This is TRUE modeling. Not sure what’s your talking about but this is way closer to true modeling then you can get in any other scale
14 cars and 2 locomotives is pathetic and just makes all the other attention to detail worthless. Least you could do is run 50 cars on that.
It makes operations for more inexperienced operators easier… if you look at several other videos I have from this layout we were running 40+ car trains with 7 locomotives. For open houses you want trains running constantly not having to worry about derailments or even paying much attention to them, unfortunately with those grades and long trains that’s just not possible
Tipping over is a result of barely creeping along and it also makes for a very boring video.
Tipping over has nothing to do with going slow; the trains only go slow because the are pulling a 1.5-2.0% grade in the track, each car weights a little over 3lbs so even a 15 car train is coming in at 45-50lbs on flat track, it’s actually quite impressive for a model believe it or not.
@@NSReadingLineRailfan I disagree with you on the tipping over, but no worries. I have a friend that has a G scale train setup and he has slightly over 10 (real) miles of track down. He runs his trains at a slow trot or a fast walk and never has an issue, but he gets tip over in a few places on his track when he is creeping along. When he has a little speed to it, there is no tipping issue. I know the cars are heavy and I dont know the exact weight of one of his Big-Boy engines, but I will guess at around 35 or 40 pounds with the tender, but that engine will pull a butt-load of cars. Dont know the exact dollar amount with all his trains and stuff to go with it, but I think a safe guess will be something around $250,000.00.
Nice
